Why you should advertise in Autolive
AutoLive is the best way to keep up to date with
news and views about the South African and international
motor industry in all its sectors as a convenient
e-zine delivered twice a month.
■■
Importantly, the concept has been embraced
by the organised SA motor industry
and the mailing list already includes the
membership of:
■■
Retail Motor Industry organisation (RMI)
■■
Motor Industry Staff Association (MISA)
■■
National Association of Component and
Allied Manufacturers (NAACAM)
■■
McCarthy Motor Group.
■■
Unitrans’ Toyota dealers
This is in addition to another comprehensive
list of people operating in the industry and we are
currently negotiating for further meaningful lists in
the industry. The publication has been running for
a year now and there has been an excellent response
from the industry – including many senior executives
and industry leaders.
AutoLive certainly has great potential as a
source of up-to-date news on this very important
sector of the national economy and is thus a powerful
advertising medium to a target group.
This means advertisers who are suppliers or
service providers to all facets of the SA motor
industry are seen by a focussed target market. In
addition, the e-zine format cuts time in getting
your message across, compared to a magazine,
for instance.
Ninety Gs is
The Cut-off
“We’re not sure why, but we are experiencing unprecedented
demand for cars in the sub-R90 000
price bracket,” reveals Darryl Jacobson, managing
director of Burchmore’s.
And it just happens that one of the country’s
best-known auctioneers has a massive stock holding
of vehicles that fit this bill. “There is absolutely
no question that we offer the biggest model mix in
this price range in the country – we knock down
hundreds of cars for under R90 000 each month,”
reveals Jacobson.
Examples from recent auctions include a
2010 Nissan NP200, 2010 Volkswagen Polo Vivo
1.4, 2008 Volkswagen Polo 1.4 Comfortline,
2008 Toyota Yaris T3, 2010 Ford Figo 1.4, 2008
Ford Fiesta 1.4-litre Trend, 2008 Honda Jazz 1.4,
2011 Hyundai i10, 2009 Hyundai Getz 1.6, 2009
Chevrolet Aveo 1.6, 2010 Daihatsu Charade 1.0 and
2010 Fiat Punto 1.4.
“These cars all have one thing in common: they
“Do I hear more than R90 000 Going once, going twice ....”
sold for between R85 000 and R89 500,” reveals
Jacobson.
Yet another car that is proving exceptionally
popular within this price range is BMW’s muchloved
3 Series. “Last week we knocked down a
2005 BMW E46 320 for R89 000 – these cars are
exceptionally sought-after. Their popularity has, of
course only been accelerated by the fact that BMW
was recently named the country’s coolest brand,”
Jacobson comments.
The Burchmore’s MD, one of the country’s
leading used car gurus, says that the current popularity
of sub-R90 000 cars is a mystery. “Motor
vehicles are so well built nowadays that they can
run safely, economically and efficiently for hundreds
of thousands of kilometres – so, to be perfectly
frank, we cannot explain this craze. We
don’t know why ninety is the magic word – but
it is, and we are able to satisfy that demand. And
that’s what counts.” ■
