Marwaan Davids, the RMI’s new National Director of Training.<br />
The RMI’s New National Director for<br />
Training, Marwaan Davids, will be<br />
focussing a lot of his attention on aftermarket<br />
fitment centres, in terms of<br />
getting skilled employees fitting <strong>co</strong>mponents<br />
to highly sensitive areas of typically<br />
<strong>co</strong>mplex new cars.<br />
Now aged 41, Marwaan cut his<br />
teeth in the car industry working on<br />
customers cars in an informal environment,<br />
before doing his apprenticeship<br />
as a diesel mechanic for the PUTCO bus<br />
<strong>co</strong>ncern.<br />
From 1994 to 2 000 he was “on the<br />
bench” and after that he moved into the<br />
field of training and development. He<br />
also had experience in re-building vintage<br />
and classic cars for Verlaufer Cars<br />
in Robertsham, south of Johannesburg.<br />
He was also employed by Tracker in the<br />
training field, before moving to the RMI<br />
earlier this year.<br />
He sees his new role at the RMI as a<br />
logical step in his career, as he his mar-<br />
<strong>co</strong>ntinued on page 4
