POWERTECH Medallion<br />

A medallion is located on the rocker arm cover which<br />

identifies each engine as a <strong>John</strong> <strong>Deere</strong> POWERTECH<br />

engine.<br />

NOTE: Four-valve head engines also have “16V” or “24V”<br />

printed on their medallions. The 4045HF475 has<br />

“16V” to denote 16 valves total while 6068HF475<br />

has “24V” to denote 24 valves total.<br />

Engine Serial Number Plate<br />

Each engine has a 13-digit <strong>John</strong> <strong>Deere</strong> engine serial<br />

number. The first two digits identify the factory that<br />

produced the engine:<br />

• “CD” = Saran, France<br />

• “PE” = Torreon, Mexico<br />

• “T0” = Dubuque, Iowa<br />

• “J0” = Rosario, Argentina<br />

The engine’s serial number plate (A) is located on the<br />

right-hand side of cylinder block behind the fuel filter.<br />
