Smashing summer nights bring early fireworks<br />
to the Golden Apple Dinner Theatre.<br />

Drag Queen Bingo celebrates the beginning of<br />
its third hilarious year. The tradition of bingo and<br />
bawdiness continues throughout the summer, at<br />
8 p.m. every Friday. “This ain’t your grand mama’s<br />

“Folsom City Blues” and the classic “Ring of Fire”<br />
among other of Johnny Cash’s many hits.<br />
Dick Hyman: “Solo Jazz Piano” brings this<br />
composer and master of the piano back to the<br />
theatre at 8 p.m. July 7. With a career spanning<br />
over 50 years, this versatile and prolific artist<br />
has produced over 100 studio albums. Hyman’s<br />
movie score credits include “Moonstruck,”<br />
“The Mask,” “Two Weeks Notice” and many of<br />
Woody Allen’s classic films. Gershwin, <strong>Port</strong>er,<br />
Waller, Blake and Berlin are sure to show up<br />
for this truly All-American Jazz evening. Join us<br />
for this grand evening with one of jazz’s master<br />
musicians. This evening will benefit the Professional<br />
Learning and Theatrical Organization at the<br />
Golden Apple.<br />

Like a welcoming oasis, Kingsway Country Club sits just off I-75, yet in a world of its own. It’s ne stled in the Lake Suzy community, just off King’s Highway, so it’s easily accessible.<br />
Yet, as you pass through the gates and proceed up the winding entry road lined with pristine trees a nd foliage, you feel as if you’re miles away from civilization and the cares of everyday life.<br />
The 18-hole, par-72, championship course boasts Tifeagle greens and a rolling terrain that makes the course both inviting and challenging. It was designed in 1976 by Ron Garl, who has designed golf<br />
courses throughout the world and is known for creating courses that “maximize and enhance the land’s natural characteristics.”<br />
Garl was contacted again in 2005 to redesign the course that had been ravaged by Hurricane Charley. “We lost 2,500 trees to Charley,” said J. B. Belknap, general manager of Kingsway Country Club.<br />
“The redesign is even more appealing to the eye,” said Belknap.<br />
Today, Kingsway has six sets of tees, ranging from 5,200 yards at the front tees to 7,100 yards at t he back, championship tees. Its 18,000 square foot Old Florida style clubhouse has a majestic two-s tory<br />
foyer, a fully stocked pro shop, two dining rooms, a Grille Room for soups, sandwiches and snacks, l ocker rooms, a game room and a covered outside veranda.<br />
Teaching pro Adam Miller gives lessons to help you sharpen your game. Practice facilities include a driving range, chipping green, bunkers and putting green that are as well maintained as is the main<br />
course.<br />
If tennis is also your game, Kingsway’s newly resurfaced tennis courts will accommodate you as well.<br />
Kingsway Country Club sits in the midst of the picturesque Lake Suzy area, but is not affiliated wit h any community or development. The club is semi-private, offering both memberships and public play.<br />
“Members can book tee times seven days in advance; then the public can make tee times up to four day s in advance,” Belknap explained. Many different membership types are available, including equity<br />
and non-equity golf memberships and social/dining only memberships. Non-members are welcome to eat at the club after golfing.<br />
The club hosted the Golf Week/Titlest National Senior Invitational tournament in January, and will h ost the Florida State Golf Association Junior Invitational in May. Throughout the year they host ma ny<br />
fundraising events for local charitable organizations. Their facilities and catering are also avail able for weddings, banquets, corporate events and business meetings.<br />
The course is open from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., seven days a week, except for May through September, wh en it is closed on Mondays.<br />
