Flying Geese Units<br />

*Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (2) 2″ light print (B) Connector Corner squares. Place a (B) square in the corner of a (C)<br />

medium/dark print 2″ x 3½″ rectangle. Sew (scant) on the drawn line; press and trim. Repeat on the other side. Make (8) matching<br />

Flying Geese (B/C) units that should measure 2″ x 3½″ unfinished.<br />

Nine Patch Units<br />

*Gather (5) matching medium/dark 2½" (D) squares and (4) contrasting 2½" (E) square sets.<br />

Arrange squares as shown and sew together in rows; press in alternate directions for opposing seams.<br />

*Sew rows together; press.<br />

*Make (1) Nine-Patch block that should measure 6½" unfinished.<br />

*Sew (2) B/C Flying Geese units together; press seam open.<br />

Make (4) pairs of B/C units that should measure 2½" x 6½"<br />

unfinished.<br />

*Arrange the units for the <strong>Pin</strong>s & Needle block as shown. Sew<br />

units into rows; press to indicate opposing seams. Sew rows<br />

together; press.<br />

Half Square Triangle Units for pieced border<br />

*Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of all (74) assorted 2⅞" light print squares.<br />

*Match each with an assorted medium/dark 2⅞" square. Sew ¼" (scant) on each side of the drawn line; cut apart,<br />

the darker triangles.<br />

Pieced Border Assembly<br />

*Referring to the color photo, sew (34) assorted Half Square Triangles together; press seams open. Make (2) pieced<br />

top & bottom borders that should measure 2½" x 68½" unfinished.<br />

* In the same manner, sew (40) Half Square Triangles together. Make (2) side borders that should measure 2½" x<br />

80½" unfinished.<br />

Quilt Assembly<br />

*Referring to the color photo, arrange the (42) <strong>Pin</strong>s & Needles blocks, sashing strips and light print cornerstones as<br />

shown. Sew together into rows; press to the sashing strips in all cases. Sew rows together; press. Your quilt center<br />

should measure 64½" x 75½" unfinished.<br />

*Piece (2) 2½" side border #1 strips to measure 75½" unfinished. Sew to the quilt center; press to the border.<br />

*Piece (2) 3" top & bottom border #1 strips to measure 68½" unfinished. Sew to the quilt center; press to the border.<br />

Your quilt center should now measure 68½" x 80½" unfinished.<br />

*Sew the Half Square Triangle side borders to the quilt; press to border #1.<br />

*Sew a 2½" light print cornerstone to each end of the top & bottom Half Square Triangle borders, then sew to the quilt<br />

center; press to border #1. Your quilt should now measure 72½" x 84½" unfinished.<br />

*Piece (2½) 4" side border #3 strips to measure 84½" unfinished. Sew to the quilt center; press to border #3.<br />

*Piece (2) 4" top & bottom border #3 strips to measure 79½" unfinished. Sew to the quilt center; press to border #3.<br />

Your quilt center should now measure 79½" x 91½" unfinished.<br />

Finishing the Quilt<br />

*Layer the backing, batting and pieced quilt top. Baste and quilt as desired.<br />

*Piece (355) inches of 2¼" bias binding and bind the quilt.<br />
