Assembled CNC master patterns can be produced on multiple machining centers so the patterns can be completed in a fraction of the time normally required. With assembled CNC master patterns, you not only save time, but you also save money as material costs decrease dramatically when you don’t require thicker sheets of material. Accuracy is improved because we will split the geometry in such a way as to eliminate the need for complex setups. Solid Concepts routinely uses CNC Master Patterns for its’ QuantumCast Advanced Cast Urethane process. Each CNC Master Pattern is finished with the required texture (black A-side shown) prior to being casted. The Medical Cart project below began as a CNC Master Pattern, was prototyped as a QuantumCast Cast Urethane, and is now in production through Solid Concepts’ Tooling/Molding Group. CNC Finishing Options Solid Concepts doesn’t end the job when it comes off the machine. We offer a variety of Finishing Options to ensure that your parts are shipped ready for use: Vapor Polishing – Proprietary process offered by Solid Concepts that puts an instant clear finish on machined clear polycarbonate and other solvent bondable materials. While Vapor Polishing does not produce a lens quality finish, you’ll get a rugged production material with a great look. Polishing – A hand process that significantly enhances clarity for clear machined parts or significantly improves the surface finish on metal and opaque machined materials. Anodizing – Increases the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of metal parts to improve corrosion and wear resistance. Anodizing also provides better adhesion for paint primers and glues than bare metal. Painting – Solid Concepts offers both Non-Cosmetic and Cosmetic Paint options. Paint is typically applied to parts used for presentations, marketing studies, photography, mock-up display models, and for production work. Cosmetic Paint is applied after hand finishing and primer coat application to assure a high quality finish. Chem Film – Chromate conversion coating can be applied to aluminum, zinc, cadmium, copper, silver, tin, and their alloys to slow corrosion. EMI/RFI Shielding – Protects electronic equipment placed in a plastic enclosure from electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI). EMI/RFI Shielding utilizes a nontoxic paint that contains silver, nickel, or copper for excellent conductivity.
