Trends in <strong>Hospitality</strong><br />

<strong>Hospitality</strong> Research: Multi-disciplinary Approach<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>Christ</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>University</str<strong>on</strong>g> was established in July 1969 as <str<strong>on</strong>g>Christ</str<strong>on</strong>g> College under Bangalore<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>University</str<strong>on</strong>g>. The <str<strong>on</strong>g>University</str<strong>on</strong>g> Grants Commissi<strong>on</strong> (UGC) c<strong>on</strong>ferred Aut<strong>on</strong>omy to <str<strong>on</strong>g>Christ</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

College in October, 2004. It became the first College in South India to be reaccredited<br />

with A+ by Nati<strong>on</strong>al Assessment and Accreditati<strong>on</strong> Council (NAAC) in May 2005. The<br />

UGC had identified <str<strong>on</strong>g>Christ</str<strong>on</strong>g> College as an Instituti<strong>on</strong> with Potential for Excellence in June<br />

2006.<br />

On July 2008, the Government of India declared <str<strong>on</strong>g>Christ</str<strong>on</strong>g> College as a Deemed to be<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>University</str<strong>on</strong>g>, in the name and style of <str<strong>on</strong>g>Christ</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>University</str<strong>on</strong>g>. The <str<strong>on</strong>g>University</str<strong>on</strong>g> is rooted in<br />

Gospel values, and committed to provide holistic educati<strong>on</strong> through the development<br />

of intellectual competence, pers<strong>on</strong>al skills, inter-pers<strong>on</strong>al skills and societal skills. The<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>University</str<strong>on</strong>g> welcomes to its fold students from all over the country in an envir<strong>on</strong>ment of<br />

religious harm<strong>on</strong>y and secularism.<br />

About the Department<br />

The Department of Hotel Management was started in 1991, with the primary objective<br />

to inculcate hospitality knowledge and skills am<strong>on</strong>g aspirants and to c<strong>on</strong>tribute to the<br />

hotel industry. Today, the Department offers a four year professi<strong>on</strong>al programme, two<br />

diploma programmes <strong>on</strong>e in wine studies and another in food and beverage service,<br />

besides five certificate courses in allied areas.<br />

The four year undergraduate programme focuses <strong>on</strong> core aspects of hospitality with a<br />

blend of management elements which prepare students to become both hoteliers and<br />

managers. This programme comprises both theory and practical subjects to blend both<br />

academic learning with professi<strong>on</strong>al skills. Besides, it is mandatory for students to<br />

undergo a 24 week internship with the hotel industry for them to gain hands <strong>on</strong><br />

experience.<br />

Importantly industry interface is an <strong>on</strong>-going facet of the programme. Professi<strong>on</strong>als<br />

from leading hotels like the Accor, IHG, ITC hotels, Lalit, Mariotts, Park Hotels, Oberois<br />

and the Taj Group, interact and share their experience with our students and staff.


The Department has a training and placement cell which m<strong>on</strong>itors the placement of the<br />

students and boasts of an enviable 100 percent year after year. The Department has<br />

c<strong>on</strong>sistently been ranked am<strong>on</strong>g top hospitality institutes in India by business<br />

magazines like the Outlook, India Today and The Week.<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>C<strong>on</strong>ference</str<strong>on</strong>g> Overview and Objective<br />

The Third <strong>Hospitality</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>C<strong>on</strong>ference</str<strong>on</strong>g> hosted by the Department of Hotel Management,<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>Christ</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>University</str<strong>on</strong>g> will provide a multi-disciplinary platform for academics, researchers,<br />

professi<strong>on</strong>als and students, under the theme “<strong>Hospitality</strong> Research: A Multi-<br />

Disciplinary Approach”.<br />

The aim of this year’s c<strong>on</strong>ference is to emphasize hospitality trends and provide<br />

investigators with insights into hospitality research. This c<strong>on</strong>ference will support<br />

investigators and scholars a platform to exchange knowledge through presentati<strong>on</strong>s,<br />

debate and discussi<strong>on</strong>s <strong>on</strong> multi-disciplinary approaches to hospitality research.<br />

We welcome investigators and scholars to participate in the c<strong>on</strong>ference where each<br />

study broadly addresses the theme and focuses <strong>on</strong> the key thoughts of the c<strong>on</strong>ference.<br />

Author Guidelines<br />

Abstract:<br />

1. The title should include all variables c<strong>on</strong>sidered for the study and should be<br />

centre aligned above the abstract.<br />

2. Below the title of the study, list the name of the author(s) involved in the study<br />

and superscript the affiliati<strong>on</strong> of each author. Give the email address of the<br />

corresp<strong>on</strong>ding author below the list of author(s).<br />

3. Abstract(s) should describe the purpose of the study, the relevant literature<br />

review, details of the study and its findings and should relate the findings of the<br />

current study to the existing knowledge in the field of hospitality research.<br />

4. The accepted f<strong>on</strong>t for the title and the text is Times New Roman. The f<strong>on</strong>t size for<br />

the title should be 14-point and the text 12-point.<br />

5. The abstract should be limited to 500 words.<br />

6. Keywords should be menti<strong>on</strong>ed below the abstract under the subheading<br />

“Keywords”. Keywords should not exceed 5 words.<br />

7. All abstract(s) should be <strong>on</strong> MS word (doc., docx.) format and in portrait paper<br />

orientati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong>ly. Allow <strong>on</strong>e inch (2.5 cm) margin <strong>on</strong> all sides of the paper.<br />

8. Do not use any abbreviati<strong>on</strong>s in the abstract.<br />

10. The manuscript(s) will be refereed through a double blind review process for the<br />

scholarly/theoretical merit, soundness of methodology, relevance of the study,<br />

for plagiarism.<br />
