In Chicago, participants improved an average 25.56% in<br />
physical health as measured by a cardiovascular<br />
running test.<br />
In Milwaukee, the number of participants categorized as<br />
obese decreased by 9.5%.<br />

In New York, participants ran an average of 34% further<br />
in a post-assessment than they did at the beginning of<br />
the season.<br />
BECOMING<br />
ENGAGED STUDENTS<br />
In Cleveland, 86% of parents believe that their child's<br />
school attendance has improved because they don't<br />
want to miss the <strong>America</strong> <strong>SCORES</strong> programming.<br />
In DC, the number of participants who like school and<br />
believe they will graduate increased by 18%.<br />
An evaluation by Educational Research Consultants<br />
determined that <strong>America</strong> <strong>SCORES</strong> LA elementary school<br />
students attend nine more days of school than their<br />
peers.<br />
In <strong>2012</strong>, <strong>America</strong> <strong>SCORES</strong> was selected to join the<br />
<strong>America</strong>n Graduate movement, a campaign presented<br />
by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to improve<br />
high school graduation rates. The campaign showcased a<br />
series of PSAs with poetry by poet-athletes in St. Louis and<br />
featured <strong>America</strong> <strong>SCORES</strong> on a national PBS broadcast as<br />
part of <strong>America</strong>n Graduate Day.<br />

In Seattle, an external evaluator found a significant 60%<br />
improvement in participants’ writing samples.<br />
In New England, participants improved in English<br />
Language Arts by 7.8 points as measured by the MCAS<br />
Test.<br />
In St. Louis, participants showed a 50% improvement in<br />
their writing (mastering the use of two out of four literary<br />
devices).<br />
In the Bay Area, 69% of participants positively changed<br />
in eight targeted behaviors.<br />
