His Name
Zechariah means

The Book of Zechariah is both Messianic and
Apocalyptic.
The messianic emphasis of Zechariah accounts
for its frequent citation by New Testament
authors.
There are 41 New Testament citations or
allusions to Zechariah’s book.

Vision of the Measuring Line
Zechariah 2
Then I raised my eyes and looked, and behold, a man
with a measuring line in his hand. 2 So I said, “Where are
you going”
And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see what
is its width and what is its length.”

And there was the angel who talked with me, going out;
and another angel was coming out to meet him, 4 who
said to him, “Run, speak to this young man, saying:
‘Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns
without walls, because of the multitude of
men and livestock in it. 5 For I,’ says the
Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her,
and I will be the glory in her midst.’ ”

“Up, up! Flee from the land of the north,” says the Lord;
“for I have spread you abroad like the four winds of
heaven,” says the Lord. 7 “Up, Zion! Escape, you who
dwell with the daughter of Babylon.”

For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory,
to the nations which plunder you;
For he who touches you
touches the apple of His eye. 9
For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they
shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know
that the Lord of hosts has sent Me.

Zechariah 2 - Future Joy of Zion and Many Nations

“Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am
coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the Lord.

“Many nations shall be joined to
the Lord in that day, and they
shall become My people.
And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that
the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. 12 And the Lord will
take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy
Land, and will again choose Jerusalem. 13 Be silent, all
flesh, before the Lord, for He is aroused from His holy
habitation!”

Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing
before the Angel of the Lord hw:hyÒ &a'l]m',
and Satan (The Accuser) standing at his right hand to
oppose him. And the Lord said to Satan,
“The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord who has chosen
Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked
from the fire”

“Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our
God, and the power of His Messiah (Christ) have
come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused
them before our God day and night, has been cast
down.

Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was
standing before the Angel.

Then He answered and spoke to those who stood before
Him, saying,
“Take away the filthy garments from him.” And to him He
said, “See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I
will clothe you with rich robes.”

And I said, “Let them put a clean turban on his head.”
So they put a clean turban on his head, and they put the
clothes on him.
And the Angel of the Lord stood by.

Then the Angel of the Lord admonished Joshua, saying,

“Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘If you will walk in My ways,
And if you will keep My command,
Then you shall also judge My house,
And likewise have charge of My courts;
I will give you places to walk
Among these who stand here.

‘Hear, O Joshua, the high priest,
You and your companions who sit before you,
For they are a wondrous sign;
For behold, I am bringing forth
My Servant the
BRANCH.

‘Thus says the Lord of hosts,
saying:“Behold,
the Man whose name is the BRANCH!
From His place He shall branch out,
And He shall build the temple of the Lord;

Yes, He shall build the temple of the
Lord. He shall bear the glory,And shall sit
and rule on His throne;So He shall be a
priest on His throne,And the counsel of
peace shall be between them both.” ’

Isaiah 4:2 - The Renewal of Zion

In that day the Branch of the Lord shall be
beautiful and glorious;And the fruit of the
earth shall be excellent and appealing,
For those of Israel who have escaped.

And it shall come to pass that he who is left in
Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called
holy—everyone who is recorded among the living
in Jerusalem. 4 When the Lord has washed away
the filth of the daughters of Zion……

Isaiah 11:1 – The Branch of Jesse
There shall come forth a Rod
from the stem of Jesse,
And a Branch shall grow out of his roots.
The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him,
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit of counsel and might,
The Spirit of knowledge
And of the fear of the Lord.

A Branch of righteousness;
A King shall reign and prosper,
And execute judgment and
righteousness in the earth.

In His days Judah will be saved,
And Israel will dwell safely;
Now this is His name by which
He will be called:
THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Zechariah Chapter 3 - The Coming Stone

For behold, the stone
That I have laid before Joshua:
Upon the stone are seven eyes.
Behold, I will engrave its inscription,’
Says the Lord of hosts,
‘And I will remove the iniquity of that land
in one day.

In that day,’ says the Lord of hosts,
‘Everyone will invite his neighbor
Under his vine and under his fig tree.’ ”

Seven Eyes are the Seven Spirits

And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the
throne and of the four living creatures, and in the
midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it
had been slain, having seven horns and
seven eyes, which are the
seven Spirits of God sent out
into all the earth.

Seven Lamps are the Seven Spirits
… Seven lamps of fire were burning
before the throne,
which are the seven Spirits of God.

The mystery of the seven stars which you saw
in My right hand, and the seven golden
lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of
the seven churches, and the seven lampstands
which you saw are the seven churches.

Revelation 1:4 - Greeting the Seven Churches

John, to the seven churches which are in Asia:
Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was
and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits
who are before His throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, the
faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler
over the kings of the earth.
To Him who loved us and washed us from
our sins in His own blood, 6 and has made
us kings and priests to His God and Father,
to Him be glory and dominion forever and
ever. Amen.

Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see
Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the
earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
