For F more th than fift fifteen years now, my inkjet paper<br />
of choice has remained Hahnemühle Photo Rag.<br />
I currently use Hahnemühle Photo Rag Bright<br />
White (308 gsm) for both my black and white<br />
and color printing needs. When I first began to<br />
produce digital prints, back in 1992, I felt that<br />
it was important to avoid attempting to mimic<br />
the characteristic look of the conventional<br />
(silver gelatin) prints I had been producing<br />
since the early 1970’s. With so many vast<br />
improvements to both digital printers and fine<br />
art digital printing papers over the past nineteen<br />
years, digital prints have long since proved<br />
themselves to be deserving of no apology<br />
or excuse. Pigment ink prints possess their<br />
own decidedly unique and uncompromising<br />
aesthetic qualities and attributes which allow<br />
them to stand side-by-side with the very best<br />
conventional photographic print processes.<br />
Yet, digital prints are as aesthetically different<br />
from silver gelatin prints, as are platinum prints<br />
from silver gelatin prints. Each process has its<br />
own aesthetic nuance and expressive potential.<br />
Personal preference is the key. Hahnemühle<br />
Photo Rag Bright White paper provides me<br />
with the aesthetic qualities, sheet-to-sheet<br />
consistency and dimensional stability that I<br />
demand in a digital printing paper.<br />
