<strong>The</strong> leading diesel technology<br />
Anyone who enjoys exploring the great outdoors<br />
knows how important it is to respect the<br />
environment. This mindset is also reflected<br />
by the M - <strong>Class</strong>. Its diesel engines, which are<br />
equipped as standard with a particulate filter,<br />
are designed to run quietly and offer good<br />
fuel efficiency which results in low emissions.<br />
Yet they are also decidedly powerful : the<br />
ML 300 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY develops 150 kW<br />
and a maximum torque of 500 Nm.<br />
<strong>The</strong> ML 350 BlueTEC gives you an output of<br />
155 kW and a maximum torque of 540 Nm while<br />
the ML 450 CDI is powered by an efficient V8<br />
developing 225 kW and up to 700 Nm of torque.<br />
<strong>The</strong> diesel engines are particularly economical<br />
thanks to their optimised common - rail technology.<br />
This means that, when the engine is running,<br />
the necessary injection pressure is always avail -<br />
able in a central fuel line. It is stored there and<br />
put to work as required by individually controlled<br />
valves. <strong>The</strong>re isn’t a great deal to see, but you<br />
notice it in the engine’s smooth running characteristics,<br />
at the filling station, and – in the long<br />
term – in the environment.<br />
