All - wheel drive and trailer stabilisation – technology that pulls together<br />
Although a stretch of sea is one of the few obstacles<br />
which the M - <strong>Class</strong> is unable to overcome,<br />
the <strong>Mercedes</strong> Off - roader is the ideal way of getting<br />
to the water, especially if you have a boat<br />
in tow. For one thing, there’s the new manually<br />
folding trailer coupling. And then there are all<br />
the advanced technical features : the electronic<br />
traction system 4ETS and ESP incorporate ABS,<br />
acceleration skid control and active yaw control.<br />
In combination with 4MATIC, the permanent<br />
all - wheel drive, this makes for outstanding traction<br />
on practically any surface. <strong>The</strong> optional<br />
Off - road Pro Engineering package also demonstrates<br />
outstanding qualities when towing, par -<br />
ti cularly on slippery surfaces like wet grass<br />
and soft sand, or when starting off on hills. In critical<br />
situations, ESP trailer stabilisation comes<br />
to your assistance. Through selective braking of<br />
individual wheels it can keep the towing vehicle<br />
and trailer on course and reduce fishtailing – even<br />
when the shipping forecast is less than encouraging.
