Bypass valve
The engine oil reduces the friction between the engine
parts while the engine is moving. It conducts abrasion
particles away from the friction surfaces and acts as a fine
sealing and corrosion protection.
Bosch oil filters remove up to 99% of dust, abraded metal
particles, combustion deposits and carbon particles from
the circulation oil and guarantee optimum protection of the
engine components.
Next to the traditional spin-on oil filters, car manufacturers
are using more and more oil filter inserts. With a fixed
housing in the engine compartment, the only part to be
exchanged is the filter insert.
Anti-drain valve
The anti-drain valve prevents the filter from running dry after
the engine has been switched off and guarantees a rapid
pressure build up and immediate lubrication on restarting
the engine.
Bypass valve
The oil supply of the engine is essential - in case the oil filter
is stuck with particles or the outside temperature is low and
the oil is viscous the filter must be bypassed.
The bypass valve assumes this function. It opens at a certain
pressure ratio and allows the engine oil to flow to the
engine without being filtered. Although contaminants reach
the engine components this causes less damage than an
interrupted oil supply.
