Diesel filters are available as boxes and filter elements.<br />
They have to filter out contaminants as well as they have<br />
to separate the water contained in the diesel fuel.<br />
Since water is heavier than diesel, it accumulates in the<br />
water storage. If diesel filters without water storage are<br />
used, water separators are installed in the suction line<br />
between the tank and the fuel-supply pump.<br />
Insufficient water separation can reduce the life time<br />
of the injection system and can lead to performance<br />
problems as well.<br />
