Female Sale
Sunday, December 19, 2010, 1:00 p.m.
Solsgirth Community Hall, Solsgirth, MB
Sale Welcome
Thank you to all who have supported us this past year. While it was a diffi cult fall, we offer our heartfelt gratitude and wish that everyone come
celebrate with us. On December 19th, at the Solsgirth hall, we will be providing a wonderful lunch as we sell some stellar females and extend some
old-fashioned fun to set the Christmas season off right!
It has been a long haul in the beef world, but the industry has fi nally taken an upturn. Even the most optimistic are leery, but we remain positive that
the future of beef production and the importance of Simmental genetics are going to trail blaze into the New Year.
While we typically calve out over 100 bred heifers each year, we just don’t have the capabilities to ‘keep them all’. So, we are offering a large group
of females that highlight the best of our program. Leading the sale are 48 purebred females, bred early with no exposure to ensure that the fi rst
calf will be profi table. Also, a solid group of Simmental-based commercial females that will begin calving April 1st to a Red Angus calving ease sire
we purchased from McMillan Ranching will offer diversity to the sale. To fi nish, we have selected 5 heifer
calves to showcase some of our newest genetics, including ACS V8 and LFE Rochfort. These calves are
tie broke, well-made, and exciting prospects that will make great junior projects. All the females will be fully
vaccinated, ivomec’ed, and preg tested. If you have any questions, or would like to view the cattle, they
will be on display at Wayne’s yard, reference the map on the next page. Keep in mind; we are showcasing
these females in an old school way, so dress warm, should we face inclement weather. We will have lots of
hot coffee, Baileys, and baked goods to keep you warm, but please prepare for outdoor viewing. The sale
offering will be sold again by video auction. Each lot will be displayed on a large screen as they are selling.
Buyers usually have their selections made ahead and can view the sale in comfort.
We would like to thank everyone who helped us throughout the year, including our amazing neighbours and
many friends, the perogy crew, past customers and everyone in the family who helped get the daily work
completed.
May you all have a wonderful holiday season and enjoy the spirit of the New Year.
Happy Holidays and Many Thanks,
From The Bonchuk’s
Sales Management Comments
On December 19 you have a special opportunity to select from one of the great Simmental gene polls available in this great breed. The Bonchuk
family have strived to raise cattle for both purebred and commercial cattlemen alike. They have expanded their genetic base with an extensive A.I.
program of both proven, and the newest and fi nest genetics available.
This group of females they have assembled are from the heart of the herd and were diffi cult to offer for auction. They are a super stout, big bodied,
sound set of young ladies with loads of phenotype. They have been selected on these traits as well as proven cow families. This group has something
for everyone in terms of red, black and fullblood, horned or polled.
With the cattle markets on the rise and good, young, productive females fetching premiums this fall, this is sure to be one sale you will not want to
miss. Come for the great set of cattle that have been assembled from a great family who strive to produce high quality seedstock and build lasting
relationships with the customers who become friends.
If you can’t be with us sale day, please call one of our cell numbers and we will be pleased to assist you with any buying advice you would like and
purchase on your behalf.
We hope to see you sale day.
A female with a ton of potential that is destined to be a hard working, heavy milking
cow. She is a descendant of 88F, the high selling open heifer calf at the Rendezvous
Reduction Sale that was held years ago, but when you invest in quality, it always carries
through for many years. This dark red heifer carries the service of Porsche; expect
great things from this mating.
A solid, deep sided Stride daughter coming from a heavily pigmented, dark red daughter
of Everest, and a female that was one of the most infl uential cows we ever owned, a
Bavarian daughter that was purchased from Twin Brae Simmentals. 139E left a very
profound impact on our herd. 11W displays great depth of body, full pigment, excellent
temperament and carries a service to our junior herdsire, Jeremiah 9022, a full Fleck
bull that we partnered with Double Bar D to own. 9022’s dam is a daughter of Western
Union 5Z and MFL Zaila 8Z, one of the strongest producing cows at Murray Farms.
Could be a very interesting calf!!
A traditional daughter of Houston and a may be the sleeper in the sale. Her dam is
a dark red, blaze faced cow that comes from one of the best fullblood cows we ever
had working here. 26E had many great calves and she was herself a model cow. We
chose to breed this heifer to Red Rock to provide her new owner with a red calf that
We used Stride on our fullblood heifers with great success. They started small, and
when your fi rst calvers can raise calves that turn out like this heifer, it’s not all bad!! 31W
combines solid colour, pigment, great temperament and eye appeal and will prove to
be a useful cow. She is a descendant of Great Guns Rhapsodie, whose infl uence was
noticeable at MFI. Bred early to Hugo. Bull or heifer, it will be polled and good.
These Bravado females really grow on you. They are making really useful cows that
can go out and raise a great calf every year. 50W is no exception. Plenty of eye appeal
and yet has that built in predictability that lets you know she will make a great mother.
Her dam is a red blaze faced female that comes from a Fleckvieh background, ensuring
that 50W will be a top producer of easy doing, maintenance free progeny. The Red
producing cow family. The 21H Maximizer cow is still working here and has produced
some very marketable progeny. 57W is
solid red with goggles, has great depth, feet
added bonus of being full Fleckvieh. Her
Dark red, low set, polled, tons of hair and middle combined with major eye appeal best
describes this heifer- wait, in fact, that describes most Red
Rock heifers!! 81W is a daughter of Red Rock that has
commanded attention all year. Her fl uidity of movement,
wide topline and udder development has been admired by
many astute cattle people. Her dam has a picture perfect
udder and granddam 16L is still producing here as one
of our foundation red factor cows. The consistency in the
Red Rock calves is no accident. He is one of the most
predictable bulls we have ever had the pleasure of using.
A Red Rock daughter was crowned Champion bred heifer
and Reserve Champion overall at the National Show in
Brandon. Buy this female with confi dence as she will
mature into a gorgeous producing cow of quality progeny.
Will calve late February to 99U.
Moderate framed daughter of Red Rock that comes
just crowned Champion mature female at the National
brood cow look that all the Red Rock daughters
have. The fi rst calf crop of Red Rocks have exceeded
our expectations. He sired the Grand Champion bred
set progeny that are defi nitely right for the times. She
noticed by a lot by visitors, the kind of shape we would love all our cattle to have. She
also has the advantage of some outstanding cow power behind her. 111W and 112W’s
pedigree is anchored with powerful matriarchs -- 53M was a top producing Powerline
cow, and 72K was a daughter of the elite matron 304Y, who was a foundation cow for
Barry Labatte. 111W will have the benefi t and advantage of maturing into a model female
cake without icing Her calf will ensure that calving season will be all smiles, with dark color and wooly
Full Fleckvieh. A full Fleck female that has great color, type, and style, 139W is one of our leading
ladies. Her pedigree is stacked with some industry leading genetics, including our own fl ush cow, 54L.
I also have to highlight the power of Adonis, Bonnie Lass, and Double Bar D Lynn. If you buy based
on pedigree, you would have to search long and hard to fi nd such a stacked genetic profi le. That being
said, if you buy based on type, this heifer’s moderate build, complete soundness, and maternal strengths
are enough to captivate the most critical judge. Her early service to Real Deal has the potential to
create a genetically dynamic offspring.
a black female with some Fleckvieh infl uence and has a super udder that is always
full of milk. 128X should prove to be an extremely productive type of female that will
produce for many years.
Open.
Lots of paternal and maternal power in this solid
red female. She is our fi rst Rochfort daughter to
sell. He was the high selling bull purchased from
Lewis Farms in their 2009 Bull Sale. He has done
an amazing job as his sire group was the heaviest
average weight group to go across the scales
this fall. Everyone that has seen Rochfort has
been very impressed, almost as impressed when
we pointed out the dam of this heifer. 55R is a
model cow, very clean fronted, pear shaped, great
tempered, and a tremendous set of hips that she
seems to transmit to her progeny. 269X is destined
to be a front pasture female.
