A Happy Occasion
Editorial
Research
Russia 38
The Russian researchers Yuri Rachmanin and
Vladimir Kondratov developed an experiment to test
the effects of Grander Technology and were astonished
at the results.
China 43
Two new projects undertaken in China involved
a study of plant growth and an attempt to reduce
the chemicals required at a textile-dying factory in
Hong Kong.
Austria 46
In a dissertation on Grander Technology at the
Technical University in Graz, the physical changes
that take place in Grander’s revitalised water were
examined for the first time.
This second issue of the Grander Journal is centred
around a happy occasion: the Russian Academy of
Natural Sciences has awarded its Silver Medal of Honour
to Johann Grander in recognition of his discovery of
water revitalisation. There are many water-treatment
systems, but Grander Technology is unique, and all the
imitations that have sprung up in the wake of Johann
Grander’s success have one thing in common: they
have absolutely nothing to do with water revitalisation
according to Grander. Statements to the contrary are
simply untrue and can easily be refuted. Although there
is as yet no scientific explanation for why water revitalisation
according to Grander works, there is no doubt that
it does work, and this can be proven by more than one
standardised method. And this is a further important
topic of this issue of the Grander Journal. One of the
accusations levelled at (traditional) science in connection
with Grander Technology was that science seemed to
have lost its curiosity. The standpoint taken by many
researchers is: Anything that is not in line with current scientific
research simply does not exist. However, those who
retain their curiosity and are willing to follow the track
to water’s secret have been richly rewarded. They have
discovered something. There are many fascinating items
of news to report, among others a dissertation at the
Technical University in Graz which – among other things
– succeeded in proving changes in the surface tension
of water revitalised according to Grander, horticultural
growth trials at the Ministry for Agriculture in Beijing,
experiments with the effect of chemicals and dyes in
a textile factory in Hong Kong and studies in a Russian
research laboratory that prove increased capability for selfrevitalisation
in water revitalised according to Grander.
And what would the Grander Technology be without
the personal experiences of its individual users These insights
are useful, and each can be checked and verified.
A Celebration
Aurach (Tyrol), 13th September
2000: a great day
for Johann Grander, indeed
not only for him but also for
his entire family and all those who
have lived and suffered over the
past years and decades in developing
water revitalisation. The large
hall of Eichenheim Golf Club is
filled to capacity. Guests from five
continents and over 30 countries
have arrived to be with the Grander
family on this day. The festive occasion
is underlined by the presence
of a local brass band. Outside
it is raining cats and dogs, as if
the heavens themselves wanted
to send the guest of honour their
best wishes.
Johann Grander is to receive
a high honour today: The Silver
Medal Award of the Russian Academy
of Natural Sciences. This award
honours the man from the Tyrol for
his discovery of water revitalisation.
A number of scientific institutes in
Russia have worked intensively,
studying and analysing Grander
Technology. The results have led
the scientists to the conclusion
that “Grander’s method makes it
possible to increase the energy and
information properties of water and
therefore to make it biologically
more valuable”. With new findings
about the structure of water his discovery
encourages further development
of science and business and
is thus of world-wide significance
for science in general. Weighty
words from an international scientific
point of view for the simple
naturalist from the Tyrol; indeed
the discoveries made by Johann
Grander are an absolute sensation.
Those who know Johann Grander
realise how pleased he is about
this award. Georg Huber, a longstanding
friend of the Grander family,
has organised the celebrations
along the wishes of Johann Grand-
sciences of the 21st century,
it is of decisive importance to
this regard, Johann Grander has
shown us a fascinating path.”
er, little pomp but much heart. In
the midst of this celebration and
happy atmosphere, the many
hard years Johann Grander spent
experimenting and researching
under very difficult circumstances
are forgotten. Today is the day
when Johann Grander’s life’s work
is finally and irrefutably recognised,
in defiance of all adversaries, and
those who mocked and envied.
Most recipients of this award receive
it posthumously. Fortunately,
Johann Grander is able to experience
this recognition himself, and
he deserves it more than most.
Notwithstanding some rather
massive opposition, his discovery
of water revitalisation has asserted
itself world-wide.
The ideas of his adversaries: that
water is just water is now being increasingly
questioned internationally,
as hundreds of thousands of
users benefit from the advantages
of Grander Technology, their lives
no longer imaginable without its
reason for Grander’s motto: “If
only science were able to recognise
even one percent of the knowledge
of God’s creation, the world would
be a different place!”
In his eulogy the first speaker,
Dr. Walter Heginger – representing
Austria’s Minister of Science, Elisa-
Family members and
friends of Johann Grander were
beaming with joy at the recognition
he had worked so long
to receive.
Dr. Thomas Gamse of the
Technical University in Graz was
academic adviser for the first dissertation
on Grander
Technology. In his address, he
compared water revitalisation’s
arduous path to recognition with
that of homeopathy.
“Verification has
been achieved:
it has been proved
scientifically that
your method is
effective.”
The solemnity of the
ceremony was underscored
by the music of a
wind ensemble.
the effects of Grander Technology
was conducted, compared the arduous
path to recognition of Grander
Technology with the long struggle
and its attendant difficulties that
homeopathy had to suffer on its
way to recognition as legitimate
medicine. Gamse in his speech:
“How long for instance did homeopathy,
in which active agents are
diluted to the extent that actually
only the information remains, have
to fight to be recognised alongside
traditional medicine!
A heartfelt handshake
confirmed the friendship
between science and
natural research.
beth Gehrer – put it in a nutshell:
“Verification has been achieved,
that is, it has been proven scientifically
that your method is effective.
And the critics, who have not always
treated you well, have been
refuted!” Dr. Thomas Gamse, representing
will certainly never
forget this day.
“We are not yet
far enough along
to completely
analyse nature.”
How much more pleasant is the
fact that already more than one
Austrian has successfully managed
to follow and achieve recognition
for ways of thinking that do not
correspond to the norm. Today we
are gathered here to honour Johann
Grander. His technology should
be a sign to scientists and also an
impulse for the future, so that we
may recognise that we have not yet
reached the stage of analysing
nature fully, not even the most studied
medium, water.”
Member of the European Parliament
and journalist Dr. Hans Kronberger,
an old friend of Johann
Grander, compared water revitalisation
according to Grander with the
transformation of high-grade wood
into a Stradivarius violin: although
there was more than enough highgrade
wood around, only one human
being actually had the ability
and art to build a Stradivarius.
After the speeches the guests
watched with much emotion as Dr.
Yuri Rachmanin – Vice President of
the Academy of Natural Sciences in
its purest form: an Indian
solemn moment when the
Silver Medal of Honour was
presented to Johann Grander.
The EU parliamentarian and
journalist Dr. Hans Kronberger,
author of numerous books and
films on the environment and
water research, has been a
friend of the Grander family
for many years. In his speech
he underlined the uniqueness of
water revitalisation according to
Grander.
Moscow, responsible for the water
supply for Russian cosmonauts in
space and a WHO expert – and
Prof. Vladimir Kondratov – known
as Russia’s scientific “Einstein”
– presented the Silver Medal of
future prospects made possible by
Thanks to the simultaneous
interpreting, the international
audience could follow with
interest the speeches delivered
the new way of looking at water,
from naturally improving its keeping
qualities to chemical-free purification
techniques, all of which
have opened up thanks to Johann
Under the flash of many photographers’
cameras Prof. Rachmanin
pinned the blue cross on
Johann Grander’s breast. At this
The happy “Grander family” was enthusiastic
about the meeting in Aurach and is already
looking forward to the next conference.
The Four Corners of the Earth
International Grander Meeting 9th – 16th September
2000 in Aurach near Kitzbühel
The family of Grander consultants
has grown over the
past years. They meet at
irregular intervals, but at least every
three years, in the Tyrol. Grander
sales organisations are active in
New Zealand, Australia, India, the
United States of America, Canada,
China and South Africa, as well as
in many European countries.
The meetings take place for a
variety of reasons: they enable the
consultants active across the world
to get to know each other and to
exchange experiences, to take part
in basic and additional training
and – last but not least – simply to
philosophise.
Johann Grander signs a book.
The colourfully mixed group
of people from many different
cultures included medical doctors,
biologists, physicists, chemists and
university professors from a wide
array of faculties, but also representatives
of public organisations,
for example the Czech pioneer of
water research, Dr. Frantisek Kozisek,
Director of the Department
for Drinking Water at the National
Institute for Health in Prague and
his colleague Dr. Chlupacova, chief
microbiologist.
Georg Huber spoke about
Johann Grander’s personal life story
and the early days of water revitalisation.
Professor Yuri Rachmanin
10
International Meeting
reported at length on three years
of research in Russia (see page 38).
Many of those attending the meeting
were surprised at the volume
of information, insights and corresponding
results already available
on the topic of water revitalisation.
Professor Vladimir Kondratov
provided details of his work on the
structure of water and the particular
characteristics of Grander water.
The report given by Johannes
Larch, head of the Grander
Laboratory, concerned itself with
internal quality control and fundamental
explanations about Grander
Technology. This was followed by
a short presentation on a degree
dissertation prepared at the Technical
University Graz on the subject
of Grander Technology (see page
46). In a compelling session Dr.
Horst Felsch presented the results
of his laboratory tests. He provided
“It’s clear that
the world-wide
interest will
soon surpass all
expectations.”
The Grander consultants
never tired of listening to
the extremely informative lectures.
basic information about microbiology
and reported on new insights
into the proof of the effectiveness of
Grander Technology, with particular
emphasis on the results of the
increased keeping quality of water
revitalised according to Grander.
Johannes Koppensteiner explained
some practical uses and special applications
of Grander Technology.
Two things not to be missed were
a trip to the Kupferplatte mines
and an outing to the Kitzbüheler
Horn.
The highlight of the intensive
Participants, big and small,
enjoyed taking a ride on the
miniature railway during their breaks.
working days were the lively final
discussions. Making new friends
and finding or developing ideas
just happened alongside everything
else. In other words: the meeting
in Aurach was so successful that
some attendees wanted to register
immediately for the next seminar.
And Professor Rachmanin predicts
world-wide interest will surpass all
expectations at the forthcoming
international conferences.
Doctors’ Congress
Doctors as Grander Users
A Small Congress with Grand Perspectives:
The Doctors’ Meeting in Vienna was a Great Success
Photos: PflŸgl (3)
On 6th October 2000, Vienna
was the venue for
the first discussion meeting
for medical doctors, who had
for some time been using water
revitalised according to Grander
in their surgeries. The conference
attracted participants from three
countries: Austria, Germany and
Switzerland. The main aim of
the event was to gather doctors
together and give them the opportunity
to share experiences
with Grander Water and to absorb
new experiences in their turn. The
conference was a great success;
conversations were particularly
dynamic, not least because the
event was also attended by doctors
new to the idea of using water
revitalised according to Grander.
It was not so much a case of
presenting great results but more
a matter of getting to know each
other and improving communications
in future. The experiences
described by the various doctors
were surprisingly similar.
One thing that was particularly
noted was the fact that most of
Exchange of views:
concentrated and
focused faces at the
first Grander Doctors -
Congress in Vienna.
the doctors were made aware
of revitalised water by their patients,
from whom they drew
their knowledge and experience:
“An ideal situation in a doctor-patient
relationship” in the
words of one participating doctor.
The exchange of medical
experiences was facilitated by
12
Doctors’ Congress
“It was
a very special
group!”
Carola Engler
Carola Engler, a correspondent
specialising in medical matters.
Her summary of the event: “I
think it was an historical meeting
of open-minded doctors willing to
consider new ways of thinking. I
had the distinct impression that
there were great developments
both in the conference room and
in the following informal conversations.
Although I have dealt
with medical matters for many
years, I have never experienced
such enthusiasm and keenness to
Although some of them
may have arrived with
feelings of scepticism,
they all departed in a
spirit of friendship.
There was a lively
series of conversations
and discussions
led by the journalist
Carola Engler.
experiment in doctors before. It
was a very special group.”
The congress participants
agreed that traditional
medicine unjustly
gives the medium water far too
little importance and considers it
to be nothing more than an ideal
transport and solution medium
for medicines, but without any
further significance. They also
expressed the wish that more attention
be paid to water, within
the context of healing and, in
particular, the use of Grander
Water.
One thing was clear: it was
the first of many future medical
conferences.
Revitalised Water
More people every day are convinced
of the positive effects of water revitalisation
and put their trust in Grander
Technology both in their professional
and private lives
Richard Hompesch refused
to drink only mineral water
for the rest of his life: he put
his trust in Grander.
Well over a hundred thousand
people world-wide
use Grander Technology.
Given that water determines
our everyday life 24 hours a day, i.e.
around the clock, it is the all-preserving
life-elixir.
The state of the water is crucial
for our health and well-being, and
for the preservation of our entire
ecosystem. This is why many users
of Grander Technology like to pass
on their experiences with revitalised
water, out of gratitude for what
they have experienced personally
and to enable other people to make
use of these experiences.
Water of life: well-water
instead of mineral water
of the water. Mr. Hompesch
had the samples of his revitalised
water analysed by the Dr. Berg
Hygiene Institute in Eschweiler.
The results were so baffling that
the tests had to be repeated more
than once, as the institute had
doubts about the fantastic results.
“The equipment paid for itself
within a year and half with the savings
made because we no longer
needed to buy mineral water. I am
convinced that the well revitaliser is
responsible for this effect, as we did
not undertake any other measures
to improve the water.”
Husband and wife Richard and
Gisela Hompesch just did not seem
able to enjoy their lovely house on
the edge of the nature reserve in
Nideggen-Abenden in North Rhine-
Westphalia. The reasons: constant
problems with their well-water, their
only source of drinking water. The
couple became aware of this fact
after buying the house. They were
forced to drink bottled mineral
water, as the water from the well
had to be boiled before it could be
used. This dilemma still affects the
neighbours. Richard Hompesch,
however, decided to take matters
into his own hands and installed
a Grander well revitaliser. The
moment of truth came when the
local health authority requested
microbiological and chemical tests
The official test report
confirms the perfect
quality of the well water.
Enthusiastic talk-show
viewers jam phone lines
Ulrich Wunsch is a passionate
GP. On 2nd May 2000 he and his
young patient Alina Dahmen were
guests on the TV talk show Fliege.
Alina had run a rusty nail through
her upper lip while playing and
had refused to go to hospital. She
wanted to be treated only by her
family doctor, who sewed the
wound and treated it successfully
with Grander Water in a very short
space of time, and without leaving
a visible scar. Alina’s description of
the incident and the healing process
had a lasting effect. The telephone
lines of the Fliege editorial department
(Jürgen Fliege has himself
been a user of Grander Technology
for the past four years), Dr.
Wunsch’s surgery and the central
Grander sales office for Germany
in Garmisch-Partenkirchen were
jammed for days. Thousands of
people wanted to find out more
about Grander Technology.
Ulrich Wunsch’s experience:
homeopathic medicines take effect
faster, and the pain associated with
circulatory problems is reduced.
Skin-related infections and illnesses
react well to revitalised water.
Hannelore Görgens has been a
patient for many years. One evening
while playing with her dog she was
bitten in the cheek and upper lip.
Dr. Wunsch wanted to admit her
immediately to hospital for an
operation. Frau Görgens however
insisted that he should treat her
himself, so he sewed the wound
as best as he could and treated her
with water revitalised according to
Grander. Frau Görgens continued
the treatment at home. To everyone’s
great delight there was no
infection or festering of the wound.
Today the scar is practically invisible,
removing any fear of needing to
undergo cosmetic surgery.
Like so many other
physicians, Dr. med. Barbara
Reiniger was made
aware of Grander Water
by her patients.
Doctors learn from patients
Dr. Barbara Reiniger is a GP
and homeopath in Garmisch-
patients: “ Many of my patients
use Grander Water. I was very
surprised that these patients healed
much faster when treated homoeopathically
or with acupuncture
than other comparable patients.”
Personally, she was convinced by
the visibly improved growth of
her own plants: “Having seen how
well my plants grow, I can imagine
that a person with this water inside
them would have higher resistance
to illness than one without this
advantage!” The most dramatic
experience Dr. Reiniger had was
from very severe neurodermatitis,
mainly on my face but also on
my elbows. I was ashamed of my
face; I did not want to continue
my ballet training. On the first
day we had Grander Water I took
a bath, and since then, things have
improved. The neurodermatitis has
receded; after four weeks my skin
had completely healed, and is so to
this day.”
Healing with Grander
Water
Dr. Eberhard Meyer follows new
paths in medicine in his surgery near
Rosenheim. The strict vegetarian
puts his trust in alternative healing
methods. Initially he was very sceptical
about Grander Technology.
Today, he cannot imagine living
without Grander Water. “I believe
that there is a great future
for Grander Technology. It will
be successful because the population
will realise that something
positive is happening that can be
a help in all aspects of life.” His
medical experiences are the same
as those of his colleagues: there
is an accelerating effect with
homeopathic therapies and the
body’s self-healing processes are
stimulated. Since starting to use
Grander Water, Dr. Meyer’s wife
can once again get a good night’s
sleep.
A convinced vegetarian,
Dr. Eberhard Meyer believes
in alternative therapies
and is an advocate of
Grander Technology.
Dr. Michael Walter
decided to experiment on
himself and noticed a
marked improvement in
his diabetes.
Even diabetes can
be treated
“I can not recommend carbonated
water to anyone”, says
physician Dr. Michael Walter,
whose surgery is located in Riedböhringen.
The doctor’s initial experiments
with Grander Water were
on himself. A diabetic, he tried to
balance his own body water levels
– successfully. His skin impurities
were reduced and his general
well-being increased. Dr. Walter
was particularly impressed by two
cases that were obviously connected
with revitalised water. An elderly
lady with impaired kidney function
experienced a rapid improvement
after treatment with Grander Water,
and a young man’s skin problems
healed by themselves. As far as Dr.
Walter is concerned Grander Water
is not a miracle cure but simply
good, healthy water: “And that is as
important as good, healthy air and
good, healthy food!”
Wolfgang Strübing:
“Water is the most precious
thing on earth, and thanks
to Grander we can make it
even more precious.”
Application of Grander
Technology encourages
holistic thinking
“Berlin water is problematic
for any application, and its quality
leaves a lot to be desired.” Berlin
music teacher Wolfgang Strübing
thinks he knows why fresh water
is called just that: “The term ‘salt
water’ is clear and unambiguous.
But tap water does not usually
taste fresh. Since I installed
Grander Technology my tap water
tastes fresh and a little sweet. That
is astonishing!” However this was
not the only surprise for Wolfgang
Strübing. His garden has experienced
a veritable explosion of
growth, the fish in his pond swim
around friskily, and he himself now
feels fit and vital. The man from
Berlin found out about Grander
Technology during a visit to Graz,
Austria. The new ideas about
water have led him to look differently
at many things in life and have
helped him to think in a more ecological
and holistic way. Strübing
experimented enthusiastically in his
own home and achieved concrete
results. He added a Grander heating
water revitaliser to the tank of
his heat pump, which has allowed
him to reduce the energy requirement
two-fold. This means that he
now needs less energy than before
to heat the water to 40° Celsius.
Wolfgang Strübing: “Water is the
most precious thing on Earth,
and we can make it more precious
still!”
Revitalised water shortens
convalescence after injuries
Physiotherapist Bernd Laudenbach
has famous customers, many
of whom are competitive sports
men and women. His task is to
undertake “repair jobs” for the human
body. Two of his most famous
“patients” are real world champions,
in artistic cycling. A normal
human being would break his neck
using this form of transport, but
even professional bicycle acrobats
The professional bicycle
acrobats Michael and
Heiko Rauch use Grander
Technology to recover
more quickly after an
injury.
The physiotherapist
Bernd Laudenbach has
been using Grander Water
for some time now in his
therapy.
like the brothers Michael and Heiko
Rauch regularly suffer light and
medium injuries. Artistic cycling
is a sport prone to injuries. Bernd
Laudenbach uses Grander massage
equipment and a Sanomag, because
his aim is to get the injured athlete
back on his feet as quickly as possible.
The Rauch brothers swear
by Laudenbach’s unconventional
method using Grander Technology.
Michael Rauch: “After an injury
one is fit quicker and thus able
to return to training sooner than
with conventional treatment. And it
is particularly important during the
pre-season preparation to be able
to train regularly and for injuries
18
to heal quickly.” Acrobats like
the Rauch brothers require full
concentration for their dangerous
headstands on the bike saddle,
and backache would only get in
the way.
Artist discovers Grander
Water
In her Galerie Steinreich in
Berlin’s Akazienstrasse Gabriele
Fromme sells beautiful stones and
individually designed stone fountains.
Most of them are real works
of art. The fountains are not only
decorative, but also have a calming
effect given them by the harmonious
flow of water. As is the case
with other inhabitants of Berlin,
Ms. Fromme is not happy with the
quality of the city’s water. The artist
considers this inferior water quality
the reason why her fountains suffer
from rapid build-up of limestone
and algae. She is involved, on a daily
basis, with water, and considers
it an elixir. Friends told her about
Grander Technology. First experiments
proved to her that revitalised
water simply tastes better. Being
Lots less work:
because she uses
Grander Water,
Gabriele Fromme
no longer has to clean
her fountains as often.
able to drink water straight from
the tap was an unimaginable luxury.
The advantages she has seen
since installing Grander water revitalisation
equipment are mainly of a
practical nature. The fountains now
remain free of algae for much longer.
This was not the case before she
started using Grander Technology.
Previously the room fountains were
green with algae after just a few
days. The limestone marks have also
disappeared, and the constant need
to clean the display fountains has
been dramatically reduced. As far as
Gabriele Fromme is concerned the
water has become “simply livelier”.
She is convinced that water contains
“information” that can be applied
sensibly in many different areas.
Continuing this line of thought it
becomes obvious that water is an
essential part of health care. Fromme:
“Drinking water should be
encouraged: then people would be
ill less, they would suffer less from
arthrosis, and have fewer problems
with their metabolism.”
Tons of noodles in
every variation: now
they´re more popular
than ever before.
Handmade pasta sells like
The nice thing about hobbies is
that one can choose them oneself.
In his daytime job Thomas Lehr is a
shop assistant in a food shop in Altheim
in Baden-Württemberg. His
cellar, however, is a special kind of
workshop. He produces all kinds
of noodles. In addition to fresh
egg and spelt noodles he has also
mastered the art of making exotic
varieties, such as basil-, tomatoor
pizza-flavoured noodles. A TV
A staple foodstuff, bread
documentary in which a baker
from Verl, Rudi Schumacher,
described his experiences with
Grander Water made Thomas Lehr
aware of Grander Technology. According
to Schumacher, dough
made with revitalised water rises
better. Thomas Lehr and his wife
Sabine wanted to try this out for
themselves. And in fact they can
confirm the experience made by
their “baking colleague”. Although
there are many noodle factories
around Altheim, handmade pasta
à la Lehr sells like hot cakes, and
deliveries to places as far away
as Norway are nothing special.
Thomas Lehr: “Our turnover has
I have now started to bake bread
More flavour through
Grander Technology
According to Rainer Knoll,
who comes from Bremen, baking
is a philosophical act. Not all bread
is the same, and as far as Knoll is
concerned only the best is good
enough to be a staple in our diet.
In the bakery in Bremen only the
highest-quality raw materials from
environmentally-friendly sources
are used for bread, biscuits and
cakes.
The essential thing with baking
is the proportion of flour to water.
“The more water one can bind, the
better the quality of the bread”, the
master reveals. One of his customers
introduced Knoll to Grander
water revitalisation. After some
initial hesitation the first practical
trials convinced him: “We were able
to bind up to 2% more water, which
makes the dough smoother and
the aromatic flavour stronger, so
the proof of the pudding is literally
in the baking!”. The Knoll bakery
Northern Germany, most of which
are whole-food shops. The bakery
also noticed something else: the
quantity of detergent used could
be reduced to such an extent that
fewer cleaning staff were needed
than before. Baker Knoll: “Cleaning
the baking sheets and ovens is a
much easier and faster job now and
there is no build up of lime scale on
the machines!”
Austria’s most beautiful holiday
venues. Both in summer and winter
the demanding guest is offered
attractions available in the holiday
resort 3600 feet above sea level.
The Bergland Hotel is one of
the pioneers of the application of
Grander Technology in the hotel
business. Their first equipment was
The lovely indoor pool at
Hotel Bergland now attracts
even more guests with its
new, improved water quality.
a few days. The most remarkable
changes were those that occurred
in the laundry and swimming pool.
The machines in the laundry suddenly
started to foam, and at first
we didn’t understand the connection,
as very few user reports
about Grander Technology were
available at the time. Neither the
manufacturers of the machines nor
the washing-powder suppliers were
able to explain the phenomenon.
We then reduced the dosage, and
the results were astounding. According
to the information provided by
the detergent manufacturers this reduction
would no longer guarantee
the level of cleanness, but laboratory
tests on the laundry proved that
is was absolutely clean. The savings
made in terms of chemicals quickly
offset the initial investment.”
The experiences they had with
the swimming pool were no less
interesting: “In the swimming pool,
which gets heavy use, we were able
to reduce the dosage of chlorine
and other chemicals significantly,
and the water quality has also
improved.” A conscientious hotel
When one decides to offer a
specialised hotel service and to
cater for children, young families
and naturally also for household
pets, then water plays a particularly
significant role. In the
spring of 1999 Werner Bergauer
opened his children’s hotel, Villa
Kunterbunt, in Loipersdorf on
the border between Burgenland
and Styria. The hotel has large
rooms and just about everything
a child could wish for. The finest
care is of utmost importance, as
is the quality of the cooking. The
enthusiastic owner already knew
about Grander Technology from
his previous hotel in Vorarlberg.
“Children are veritable water-babies
anyway, but parents keep asking us
what is so special about our water,
time we ask our little guests we get
the same stereotype answer: that
the food and the water are our main
Located as we are at the heart of
the thermal region we already have
high-quality water, and presumably
revitalisation according to Grander
has an even stronger effect. It has
also happened more than once that
guests who brought their dogs
have commented on their four-legged
friends growing finer and silkier
coats during their stay. I think these
improvements, which one can see
and feel, are caused by the water.”
The entire Lang family
is pleased with the
fantastic results they
have seen in the wine
and schnapps they make
themselves.
Grander Improves the
Flavour of Good Wine
“Can wine be revitalised” is a
question that is often asked. Johann
Lang, a wine-grower who also runs
a typical wine tavern in the idyllic
St. Johann in der Heide in Eastern
Styria, wanted to find out more and
accordingly began a private series of
tests on wine and schnapps from his
own stills. His first result: “Good
wine gives excellent results. We
found that wine passed through a
Grander revitaliser before bottling
was significantly ‘fresher’, more
easily digestible and ‘younger’ after
a year than a comparable sample
that had not been revitalised. The
flavour of the fruit is more noticeable.
Revitalisation smoothes the
‘edges’ of the wine, so one should
only revitalise those wines where
this is a desirable effect.” There is
one thing the wine-grower warns
against: “Grander Technology will
not transform bad wine into good
wine. Anyone trying to do that
is bound to fail miserably.” The
experiences gained with wine also
apply to schnapps: “The same thing
happens here”, says the distiller of
quality spirits. “Revitalisation removes
the harshness of the alcohol,
making the schnapps rounder, more
easily digestible and softer, and the
flavour of the fruit is definitely enhanced!”
Dogs lap up Grander Water
The first time Christine Saahs,
the landlady of the exclusive Heuriger
Nicolaihof in Mautern – an establishment
known far beyond the
borders of Lower Austria – came
across Grander water revitalisation
was during a holiday on a Demeter
farm in the Waldviertel over ten
years ago. The farmer was very
proud of his new acquisition. Her
first thought was: “Oh dear, the
poor man has been sold a pup.”
Since then she has had a Grander
device installed in the main water
pipe in her hotel, and everything
from tea-making to preparations for
the vineyards is revitalised.
it is actually the wine that
she wants to sell in the elegant
a welcome drink. She often hears:
“That’s wonderful water, where
does it come from” Mrs. Saahs
was particularly pleased by an
“animal” experiment of a special
kind: she “served” her dachshund
revitalised and non-revitalised water
in two separate china bowls,
lured him away and then switched
the bowls round. The dachshund
wasn’t fooled though, and made
a beeline for the bowl with the
revitalised water every time. Frau
success of Grander water revitalisation
For the community of
Gloggnitz the alternative
to a classic swimming pool
was a natural pond with the
aid of Grander Technology.
Swimming ponds instead
of a pool make Gloggnitz
particularly attractive
Revitalising a public swimming
pool is a large-scale project requiring
particular care and attention.
Many factors, from the fundamental
water quality to the dosage of
chemicals and the size of the fresh
water supply have a part to play.
Keeping a (public) swimming pool
running is close to a science in its
own right.
In the natural pool in Gloggnitz
in Lower Austria, close to the Semmering,
a conscious decision was
made to risk “wading” in uncharted
waters. The local authority director
responsible, Karl Stierba, explains
the starting position: “Originally we
wanted to refurbish the pool completely
using conventional stainlesssteel
equipment. This would have
cost 30 to 40 million Austrian shillings.
As the local community was
unable to finance such a project, we
needed to find an alternative, and
this led to the idea with the swimming
pond.” After a prolonged
search, the first details about
Grander Technology came to light.
Stierba: “We decided to install a
revitalising system to improve the
already high drinking-water quality
of our water even further. We
were able to observe that the selfcleansing
capability of the water has
increased. Our guests find the water
particularly pleasant. The influx of
swimming guests from neighbouring
towns and villages also has a
positive effect on the local community.
It is also important to note
that we only need to use the minimum
specified quantity of chlorine
and that the negative effects of the
chemicals are greatly reduced.”
Choice crockery in the
shop, choice water in the
pool – Slama has both
The name Slama is rich in tradition
and indeed something like
the epitome of quality in Vienna.
In the minds of the Viennese the
long-established department store
on Mariahilfer Strasse in the 6th
district is automatically associated
with precious crockery, glassware
and china.
Friedrich Slama has been
a convinced Grander user
for the past five years and
has thoroughly enjoyed
his swimming pool.
in a swimming pool in regular use.
Why would the businessman pay for
water samples just to fool himself
The effect has remained the same
for the past five years. Slama: “One
feels very well. The water doesn’t
smell, eyes don’t smart , the skin
doesn’t itch the way it usually does
in other pools where the water contains
chlorine. And as the Grander
revitalisation has worked without
any hitches for five years – we
have changed the charge only three
or four times during this period – I
have no reason to believe that it
won’t keep working in future.”
ammonia and nitrogen is greatly
increased. The enthusiastic farmer
also runs his own farm shop,
which offers mainly meat products
for sale. As far as Franz Katinger
in concerned, producing healthy
foodstuffs is a matter of conscience
and great responsibility. Thus he
refuses to use any commercial
fertilisers.
The senior boss, Friedrich
Slama, had problems with the inhouse
swimming pool until 1995.
If the contraflow equipment was
switched on after not being used
for two or three days, brown water
from the rusty pipes would flow
into the pool. In 1995 the successful
businessman decided in favour
of the installation of Grander water
revitalising equipment – and
he has operated his indoor swimming
pool without the addition
of chlorine ever since. He has the
water regularly tested by the local
Viennese authority, and invariably
the results are a cause of hilarity for
Slama: the civil servants tell him
every time that the water they have
tested cannot possibly come from
his swimming pool, as it would be
impossible to have such clean water
How a doubting farmer
became an enthusiastic
Grander customer
“The animals must feel comfortable,
only then can I be successful
economically”, farmer Franz Katinger
is convinced. He breeds pigs,
and had quite a lot of trouble with
the odour of pig manure. The passionate
farmer tried many different
products but without much success
until he finally came upon Grander
manure revitalisation. “Normally I
tend to be rather sceptical about this
kind of invention”, he admits, “but
the test results and the significantly
reduced odour emissions when
spreading the manure on the fields
have convinced me!” A further success
Dr. Jörg Mitterdorfer
will heed his mother´s
recommendation and test
Grander Water.
Austrian scientist tests
Grander Water in a
“secret laboratory”
Dr. Jörg Mitterdorfer is a commuter,
travelling between the chemist’s
shop owned by his parents in
Amstetten in Lower Austria and
Harvard Medical School in Boston,
USA, where he researches the
different functions of nerve cells.
During a visit to the pharmacy back
home he discovered “revitalised”
cosmetic products. After hearing
about the installation of a Grander
water revitaliser from his mother,
Dr. Mitterdorfer began to study informational
material about Grander
Technology. The background to
this interest: in nerve cell research
it is necessary to isolate the very
sensitive cells in culture dishes, in
which they stay “fresh” for an hour
at most. The state of the cells is
determined by the quality of the
water used to prepare the nutrient
solution. His luggage for the next
trip to America includes Grander
Water. His plan: “I am just curious
and would like to see whether
cells in nutrient solutions prepared
with Grander Water are more stable.
And I would also like to see
whether Grander Water influences
the electrical activity of the nerve
cells. But I’ll try it out quietly and
secretly – in case the rest of the
research team thinks I’ve gone
completely mad!” Can’t wait to
see the results ...
Water revitalisation gives
Italian cheese products
a special kick
Daniele Bassi from Milan could
not believe it: “In the beginning I
was astonished. I couldn’t believe it,
because it seemed impossible on a
logical level.” Notwithstanding his
scepticism he installed a Grander
From a technical point of view,
the cheese produced in Milan
by the Bassi company has a
more even and constant acid
curve since a Grander water
revitalisation system was
installed. Practically speaking,
it simply tastes better!
Luxury hotel offers guests
harmonious whole-body
Mrs. Flechl with her sons,
The neurodermatitis the
since birth has finally
disappeared.
Desperate mother bets on
Grander Water against
neurodermatitis
The high mountains of South
Tyrol are ideal reservoirs for spring
water. This is why Grander water
revitalisation is a matter of course
for many hotels in the area. Word
of mouth has spread the news about
its application. Hotel Erika in Dorf
Tirol belongs to the luxury class.
“We would like to offer the guest a
way of life that encompasses all dimensions
of body, soul and mind”,
says landlord Josef Nestl. For the
past two years all the water that
flows in the spacious hotel has
been revitalised. The landlord is
enthusiastic: “I believe that this active
water circulation has activated
the whole house in a positive way,
because there is a lot of energy
inside there.”
water revitaliser in the big milk
tanks. And the cheese expert was
surprised: “From the very first
time we used the Grander system
we noticed an improvement
in productivity where milk and
cheese were concerned. The hygienic
characteristics were greatly
improved as well. Cheese and milk
are more aromatic and taste better.”
Test results confirm what the taste
buds know anyway: that the Bassi
products have a more even and constant
acid curve. This preserves the
natural flavour and the undesirable
aftertaste disappears. Professional
cheese tasters recognised the difference
immediately.
For many years Mrs. Flechl from
Großsteinbach in Styria has been
going back and forth between alternative
and traditional medicine in
the search for successful treatment
for the neurodermatitis suffered by
her twins, David and Armin. From
the age of four months onwards the
children suffered from constant itching
and suppurating, festering skin
all over their bodies. The doctors
explained that there was no chance
of a cure before the end of puberty.
So Mrs. Flechl went back to looking
for a cure, and this time she was
successful: after installing a Grander
water revitaliser it took four months
for the boys to be healed from all
complaints. Mrs. Flechl: “I didn’t
need a skin specialist or a cream, no
diets, nothing. I just left the kids,
who were six years old at the time,
in the bath for half an hour; early
on I also used creams but was able
to stop doing that. The children
have been healthy for the past five
years.”
Only the best is good enough
at Hotel Erika in Dorf Tirol.
For a long time now, that has
An Inseparable Team
Over Many Decades
Johann Grander’s father was
technically very talented and
well known beyond the village
of Jochberg. He experimented
with magnetic rollers, so-called
induction current devices. In the
1920’s Johann’s father worked for
a timber merchant and during this
period also drove the first tractor in
the county. Johann was born as the
second of five children on 24 April
1930. For seven years he attended
the primary school in Jochberg, al-
though he was frequently excused
from school during the war, when
he was needed as a relief tractor
driver on the local farms. After
the war Hans drove lorries for a
haulage company in Kitzbühel
for seven years. After that he was
employed as a lorry driver for
a fruit and vegetable company
for thirteen years. His sister Kathi
worked in a textile factory in Vorarlberg.
Her best friend, Inge,
from Feistritz in Carinthia, often
where she grew to know and love
Kathi’s brother Hans. They duly
had four children in relatively short
order, Roswitha, Heinz, Inge and
Johanna, and the young couple
soon outgrew their rented accommodation
and decided to
build themselves a house. In 1963
Hans took a nine-year lease on a
petrol station in Jochberg. In the
early 1970’s he also got involved in
local politics. He became leader
of one of the local parties in Jochberg,
but kept this position for
a long time, are already being
considered his successors.
one term of office only. Four more
children followed: Hansi, Heidi,
Heribert and Stephanie. As Hans
was unwilling to renew the lease on
the petrol station, the head of the
family was then obliged to earn his
money as a master concrete mixer
in a concrete works and subsequently
went back to working as a
lorry driver. From 1978 onwards he
picked up some of his father’s ideas
and dedicated most of his time to
his research projects. A year later a
business was founded. During this
period the whole family had to stick
together to navigate their way past
many financial obstacles. In 1989
the company was renamed Innutec.
Altogether they had to travel
a very arduous path to bring the
water and their products to market.
These days the company is one of
the largest permanent employers
in the village and has world-wide
exports.
A letter from Namibia
Gert Botha from Namibia sends
us this letter: We live in a small
town (with only 1500 inhabitants)
on the South-west coast of Africa.
Swakopmund lies in the middle of
the Namib Desert, supposedly one
of the oldest deserts in the world.
Within a radius of 70 kilometres
are three dried-up rivers. In other
words, these rivers (the Kuiseb,
Swakop and Omaruru) carry water
no more than once a year (on
the surface). The rivers sometimes
carry no water for a few consecutive
years. Their catchment area is
a few hundred kilometres away, in
Namibia’s central highlands (Khomas
Highlands). On its way to the
sea the water flows through areas
with high mineral content (usually
containing copper, lead, zinc, tantalum
ore, pewter, tungsten and even
salt and gypsum). After the water
has passed through these areas it
disappears underground through
the sand.
The water is pumped out of the
prehistoric delta of the Kuiseb and
Omaruru rivers and piped to three
cities to be used there. Because of
its “history” it is very hard and
contains many dissolved salts. It
therefore has a rather unpleasant
flavour and only few people drink
it (fortunately we have excellent
beer).
Since we introduced Grander
Technology a few weeks ago, the
“new” characteristic of our water
has made us deliriously happy: for
the first time hair shampoo actually
foams (fantastic!) and hair no
longer feels like winter grass, lime
scale visibly disappears, and the best
thing is, we can drink the water!
Even just this fact alone is of great
significance, because we all suddenly
came to the conclusion that
everyone had been suffering from
the classic symptoms of dehydration
(constipation, dry and smarting
eyes, stuffy noses, dry skin, digestive
problems, etc.). All of a sudden
one can’t drink enough water!
On top of that – and this is rather
strange – the more one drinks, the
more one wants to drink! We had
to set up working teams to “treat”
the water containers until very late
into the night. Half the town was in
turmoil. I can assure you on behalf
of Swakopmund: we are exceedingly
grateful to be able to use this revolutionary
technology!
In Namibia good water is just
as important as beer. Grander
Technology has had
phenomenal success.
Mrs. Hill from Hamilton in
New Zealand had already given
fingers just couldn’t cope
any more. In 1996 she started
and in her fingers. Within eight
weeks of starting the “treatment”
her blood sugar levels dropped,
because of her improved condition
her doctor reduced the dosage of
insulin, crystals of uric acid dissolved,
and the pain caused by the
gout disappeared. Mrs. Hill: “I no
New Zealanders are a wonderful
from all parts of the world,
they insist on quality in all areas of
these areas.
of the highest standard. His baked
goods have never seen a pre-prepared
Grander Technology circles the globe.
Water revitalisation is now at home
in New Zealand as well.
Incredible but true
This story from the New Zealand
town of Napier sounds quite
incredible. New housing was going
to be built on a river bank that had
previously been used by a mineral
oil company as a rubbish dump
and was accordingly polluted with
hydrocarbons. The contamination
reached levels of no less than 8000
ppm to a depth of one to three metres
over a large part of the area.
Because of this, the whole area
was out of bounds to the public.
Some parts of the area were even
contaminated with tar and there
were many different kinds of hydrocarbons
around.
Napier city officials discussed and
decided to implement a remedial
project using the Grander Technology.
The entire area was flooded with
revitalised water, and the water was
renewed daily.
According to the experts’ estimates
the natural regeneration
could have taken as long as fifty
years. Within three weeks the first
signs of improvement were noticeable.
Microbiological activity in the
ground increased, which caused
the hydrocarbons on the surface to
break up more quickly. The process
was continuously measured.
Towards the end of the treatment
process, which lasted 35 days, the
first sea-birds went back to drinking
the water which flooded the area – a
sign that the water was on its way
to a usable state. Birds are incorruptible
indicators of water quality.
Initial heated debates cooled
Near Napier a river bank
contaminated with hydrocarbons
was completely
cleaned up with the use of
Grander Technology.
as the project advanced, and after
the five-week experimental period
there was agreement and satisfaction.
The measurements were
convincing. Hydrocarbon values
of only 13 ppm were measured.
The appearance of the river bank
showed that it was clean and
inviting. Six weeks later, Napier
City Council had the river bank
remodelled as a riverside walk.
A year later a lawn was laid and
opened for public recreation. It
is now possible to build the apartment
block.
Chinese medicine
Three and a half years ago Dr.
Cheung Yun Fat, a specialist in Chinese
medicine, introduced Grander
water revitalisation into his surgery
in Hong Kong. A particular problem
for his patients is the high degree
of air pollution in the former
British colony. So in his surgery he
works mainly with the Grander air
revitaliser. His patients noticed immediately
that the air in the waiting
room was fresher and better than
elsewhere. Dr. Cheung works
mainly with different kinds of
herbs. Even before using them he
stores them on the Grander revitalising
plates. Dr. Cheung: “The result
is that the healing power of the
revitalised herbs is much stronger
and more concentrated than it is in
non-revitalised herbs. My patients
felt the difference immediately. I am
very happy about the pleasant results,
and I also feel much stronger
and full of energy myself.”
In Macao trees grow to the
stars
Reverend Joseph Tai is the director
of the Caritas School for the
Handicapped in Macao. His access
to Grander Technology is unique.
A friend had recommended that he
use the revitalised water against the
unpleasant odour of the school’s
dogs. The apparatus was installed
in the main water pipe. Then the
papayas in the school garden started
to grow with unusual vigour, and
everyone was so enthusiastic about
Dr. Cheung Yun Fat:
“The healing power of the
revitalised herbs is much
stronger than that of the
non-revitalised herbs.”
the new shoots the plants were producing
that a separate garden class
was set up for the children. As far as
Reverend Tai is concerned the most
phenomenal thing was the way the
children gained new access to water.
They even drink it unboiled – very
unusual for Macao. The parents
were initially sceptical and were
afraid about their children drinking
unboiled water, “but we haven’t
had a single upset stomach in the
past year”, says Reverend Tai.
Thanks to the installation
of water revitilisation
equipment, children in Macao
can drink tap water for
the first time in their lives.
Holland steps up use of
Grander Water Revitalisation
Holland is a country of flowers,
and Grander water revitalisation
has experienced an immense
upswing there over the past five
years. Two typical examples for the
successful application of Grander
Technology:
“Every year I spent more than
10,000 guilders on chemicals for
the maintenance of our boilers”,
remembers Gert-Jan Conijn, owner
of a factory that produces baking
additives in Hoom in Holland. The
boilers are cooled in water with a
high content of iron. Grander
Technology not only saves a lot of
money, but in Mr. Conijn’s opinion
also increases the useful life of the
boilers. The pond beside the house
has never been so healthy and manages
without any chemical additives.
The apparatus paid for itself within
only a year.
“Nature is simply a miracle!”
Jaap von Etten and his brother
have been enthusiastic gardeners
since their childhood. Near Rotterdam
they grow mainly Caltha
palustris (a marsh plant). Both the
water in the rainwater reservoir and
the supply into the greenhouse are
revitalised. Japp von Etten describes
his experiences: “First we noticed
that weeds started to grow. That
isn’t so good, but when it happens
other plants grow faster as well. The
water is incredibly soft. This makes
it easier for the plants to absorb nutrients
and they need less fertiliser.
The leaves are more perfect, much
livelier in shape and colour. They
are also much more resistant. In the
past I had to take steps to make sure
the plants wouldn’t burn during the
hot season, but that is no longer a
problem.” For the past seven years
the von Etten brothers have cultivated
caltha plants, and Jaap von
Etten tries to figure out how nature
works: “I don’t know why Grander
Technology works but I know for
“I don´t know why
Grander Technology
works, but I do know
for certain that it does
work.”
sure that it does work. How does a
plant grow, how is a bud formed”
He has already figured out one
thing though: “Roots grow faster
in a waning moon, the plant in a
waxing one. These are complicated
processes. We should examine the
processes more and not just be
satisfied with the results; then we
would move ahead further. Nature
is one great miracle!”
Maintaining the machinery
in Jaap von Etten´s factory
has become much easier
since the introduction of
water revitalisation.
The Iberian Peninsula has
Spain is Europe’s vegetable
garden. The plantations owned
by the company Teres Hermanos
in Alicante belong to the Teresa
group, one of the leading exporters
of vegetables and melons. The first
experiments with Grander water
revitalisation within the company
were done with yellow peppers. The
fruit promptly ripened twelve days
earlier than usual. Yield increased
by a remarkable 40%. Towards the
end of another series of tests a virus
attacked the cultivation plots and
destroyed part of the harvest. Even
in this situation there was a difference
between the fields irrigated
with revitalised water and those
where non-revitalised water was
used. The revitalised plants turned
out to be significantly more resistant
and were attacked five to six days
later than the rest. Only 25-50% of
the harvest failed. The consequence:
from December 2000 onwards the
use of Grander Technology will be
stepped up.
In April the company San Javier
Plants, which grows seedlings for
peppers and melons and sells them
to plantations, installed its first
Grander water revitalising device.
It was at the stage when the pepper
plants were being replanted.
Normally the water was taken
from a storage pond fed with water
from the central water mains. The
chlorinated water led to continued
problems with the sensitive root
mass. After using Grander water
revitalisation, the engineers found
that after just one month the pepper
plants were growing faster and
were significantly more healthy. A
clear difference was also visible in
the root system, which was better
developed than it was when the
conventional irrigation system was
used.
The Spaniards’ imagination
in applying water revitalisation is
limitless. As one example of many
we can present the La Sella Golf
Course in Jesus Pobre, which was
transformed back to a lush green.
Experiences from the far
Some four years ago, Norway
became the first country in
Scandinavia to introduce Grander
Technology. The results have been
amazing. Here are three examples:
The Cato Centre in Son, Norway,
offers rehabilitation for the
physically handicapped. At the beginning
of 2000, technical manager
Paul Gummerson installed Grander
Technology in the wave pool. He
was sceptical about the concept and
wondered if this unknown technology
was just another gimmick !
The wave pool has a temperature
of approximately 38 degrees
Celsius, and is very popular at the
centre.
Two weeks after Grander
Technology was installed, says
Gummerson, things really started
to happen:
“The patients told us that they
couldn’t detect the smell of chlorine
anymore, and that, in addition,
the water felt extremely soft and
comfortable to the skin.
“Now we no longer have to
scrub the floor and bath. The dirt
is easy to remove without the use of
detergents.
“In the technical equipment
room we had spilled chlorine on
the epoxy floor. The stain was impossible
to get rid of. But Grander
water sprinkled on the stain did the
trick. It just vanished by itself.
“We normally change the water
every week. Now every third week
is enough.
“In spite of increasing traffic,
the use of chlorine and chemicals
has been greatly reduced. Each
month we used to use 300 litres of
chlorine. Now we need only 150
- 200 litres. The filters have also
become really easy to clean. We
are currently considering installing
Grander Technology throughout
the entire building. We have to
admit that we don’t understand
Mr Grander’s invention, but it
certainly works. We most certainly
recommend that others try it.”
Pears thrive on pure water
Karin Moe installed a Grander
Technology unit in her home in
September 1999. She had problems
with her laundry: the whites were
always greyish. Now the whites are
white, and coloured fabrics keep
their clear and vivid colours, even
though she now uses less detergent.
She was surprised at this but was still
a little sceptical, so she decided to
try an experiment with a fruit tree.
She simply watered the pear tree
with Grander Technology water.
Nothing else. The results amazed
her. The tree bore a huge crop of
perfect fruit, despite a generally bad
harvest in the area that year.
When the doctors gave up ...
In 1999 a nine-year-old boy had
acute eczema on his scalp, extending
almost down to his eyes. He suffered
terrible itching and scratching,
and the condition caused him to
be depressed as well. His mother
took him to several doctors, who
prescribed various ointments and
creams, all of which were extremely
painful and none of which relieved
his condition. After a while he refused
to use them.
We gave him a bottle of Grander
Vital Shampoo. After using it for
about four months, he was symptom-free,
and has been completely
well ever since. His mother was
absolutely thrilled.
The story so far:
Fate sometimes moves in mysterious ways. How did
Grander Technology reach Russia – first Moscow and
then as far as Ekaterinburg
The idea of making Grander Technology known
in Russia originated in 1996 with Grander consultant
Johannes Koppensteiner, whose previous activities as sales
director for various companies provided him not only
with an excellent command of the Russian language but
also with detailed knowledge of Russian behaviour and
customs. Russia has an excellent reputation world-wide
in the area of water research; indeed this was the case for
most of the countries of the former Eastern Bloc. It was
therefore obvious that importing Grander Technology
into Russia would prove to be a very difficult undertaking,
as the state authorities are particularly sceptical
and have extremely high testing standards. It was this
challenge that was the reason to venture into the lions’
den. And it transpired that it would in fact be close
to impossible to obtain permission to import water
technologies based on the transfer of information and
structural changes.
On 29 June 1997, Johannes Koppensteiner flew
to Moscow “armed” with Grander’s house chemist,
Dr. Horst Felsch. The Austrian trade attaché,
Gerhard Supancic, co-ordinated the talks between
the four members of the Russian delegation, led by
the director of the microbiological laboratory of the
Russian Institute for Human Ecology and Environmental
Medicine, and the two Austrians. For five
hours Dr. Felsch was inundated with critical questions.
The Russian experts demanded not only proof that
Grander Technology is harmless, which would have
been quite a simple matter, but also
proof of its efficacy and with it, of its significance,
not such an easy thing to do from a
scientific point of view. The first group of
Grander
Prof. Yuri Rachmanin and Johannes Koppensteiner:
the Russians have accepted the challenge.
The “mystery of water” is the focus of the future.
Quantum Leap in
Water Research
experts was interested but was unable to guarantee that
it would be possible to establish this significance. The
Austrian itinerant preachers Felsch and Koppensteiner
were referred to the deputy director of the Moscow
Institute of Hygiene, Olga Skvortcova. She was also
interested, particularly in the transfer of information in
water, which is an indication of the highly developed
scientific culture of these researchers. As far as she knew
there was only one man in a position to master this challenge,
and this was Prof. Yuri A. Rachmanin, director
of the Laboratory for Potable Water at the A. S. Sysin
Research Institute, Vice President of the Academy for
Natural Sciences and expert for drinking water of the
World Health Organisation.
Dr. Felsch remembers their meeting: “First of all
we were led into an enormous conference room that
looked very much like an exhibition hall for water
treatment devices. I counted fifty different types, ones
with active carbon filters, reverse osmosis, membrane
For a long time, the Russian
researchersYuri Rachmanin
(r.) and Vladimir Kondratov
have been investigating the
technology of Grander
water revitalisation.
The Russians want to know.
What else can Grander Technology do
filter equipment, devices with permanent magnets,
pyrite gel cartridges, and many more. Seeing all this
equipment I knew that we had finally found the right
man. For the third time I began to talk about Grander
Technology, but I soon realised that my generic
explanations about water molecules, cluster formation
and information transfer were not holding Professor
Rachmanin’s interest. His eyes and body language indicated
boredom, and when he simply couldn’t stand
my explanations any longer he seized the initiative and
told me that all of this was already well known. On the
other hand he described the enormous problems facing
Moscow’s water-supply company. The foundation
stone for an extremely fascinating collaboration had
been laid.”
In the summer of 1997, Prof. Rachmanin prepared
an extensive research programme which included physical,
chemical, microbiological and also medical tests.
He wanted to establish that Grander Technology had
no negative effects on the health of the general public.
These tests proved the health and environmental safety
of the Grander Technology. In the summer of 1998,
the Russian Ministry for Health granted unrestricted
permission for the use of Grander Technology in
Russia.
In order to establish how Grander Technology
works and what its effects on water actually are, Dr.
Kondratov, an expert in the study of water structure,
was asked to participate in further tests. The results of
the research activities of the Rachmanin/Kondratov
scientific duo have since been registered world-wide
as scientific discoveries. They are the reason why
Johann Grander has been awarded the Silver Medal of
Honour of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences,
and it is assumed that this is the first stage of a quantum
leap in water research.
The basic statement the Russians are making is that
the 20th century was dedicated mainly to the exploration
of water chemistry, whereas the 21st century will
belong to the neglected physics of water. The results of
these tests are not without significance. The investigations
focused on the differences between water revitalised
according to Grander and non-revitalised water.
The most important results can be summarised in
three points:
Grander Technology reduces radioactivity in drinking
water. In many parts of the earth the environmental
conditions are such that there is increased radioactivity
in groundwater and food grown in these areas. Here
Grander Technology opens new solution possibilities
– this is the subject for further research work.
Photo: Die Fotografen
Prof. Vladimir Kondratov
is considered to be one of the
leading scientists in the field of
water-structure research.
Science
The Grander method also improves the microbiological
condition of the water; the self-cleansing
capacity of revitalised water is noticeably increased,
and bacterial cultures diminish much faster in water
revitalised according to Grander than in non-revitalised
water. Extensive microbiological analyses with many
different micro-organisms confirm this. Test series
were run with Salmonella, coliform bacteria, Klebsiella,
Legionella, Escherichia coli (see diagram) etc.
It should also be emphasised that Grander Technology
reduces the mutagenicity of drinking water. When
chlorinated water and organic substances are exposed to
each other, this results in the formation of organo-chloride
compounds, which are for the most part mutagenic.
This is also the most common way in which mutagenic
substances are created.
The topic of the mutagenicity of chlorinated drinking
water and the problem created by these by-products has
only recently been considered and as yet has no solution.
Chlorinated organic compounds are very difficult
to break down, which is why these substances are so
abundant in nature. The so-called Ames test was used
to examine Moscow tap water from two different waterworks,
both of which use chlorinated surface water.
The result shows that it was possible to significantly
reduce the mutagenicity through the application of the
Grander Technology – by as much as a reduction factor
of 70%. What is all the more remarkable is that the
water was not filtered; 150-200 litres of unfiltered water
was run through a Grander Revitalisation unit. This
Engineer Dr. Horst Felsch:
In 1993 he began systematic
research on Grander Technology and
the many applications for its use.
reduction of the mutagenicity of the organo-chloride
compounds has many possible future applications.
These impressive research results are one of the main
reasons why the two Russian scientists Rachmanin and
Kondratov (the latter gives the impression of being very
modest and uncomplicated but is considered by his peers
to be Russia’s “Einstein”) travel to Jochberg at least
once a year in a sort of pilgrimage, in order to discuss,
with Johann Grander and his in-house research team,
further test possibilities, in as yet unexplored fields
of application.
The reduction in the activity of
radionuclides through the use of
Grander Technology was more than
20%. The different test results using the
flexible apparatus and the rivitalisation
rod can be explained by the varying
exposure times. The water revitalised
using the flexible apparatus was
exposed to it for ten seconds, while
the revitalisation rod was left in
the water for 24 hours before the
measurements were taken.
Two New Studies on the
Subject of Water Revitalisation
China was one of the first countries to look
at the Grander Technology from a scientific
viewpoint. As far back as anyone can remember
China has sent out scouts across the world to bring
back new water technologies. Johann Grander also
received a visit years ago and was politely asked about
the ECO-Kat he had developed. The device was tested
in Shanghai by the Chinese State Railway Company
and found to be good. The new research projects in the
Middle Kingdom accordingly fell on fertile soil. These
two new projects are an investigation of plant growth
and an attempt to reduce the quantities of chemicals
coupled with a simultaneous improvement in quality
in a textile dyeing factory in Hong Kong. Both final
reports are available in the original Chinese language
and in both German and English translations.
Science
A new dissertation at the Polytechnic
University of Hong Kong examines
the application of the Grander Technology
at a textile-dyeing factory.
At the Polytechnical University in Hong Kong graduate
student Wong Siu Kuen examined the application
of Grander Technology in textile dyeing factories, which
often find it difficult to comply with environmental
regulations and operate in a very competitive business
sector. Before a textile product can be sold, it must be
subjected to dry and wet treatments. Experts know that
with the wet treatment the quality of the water has a
decisive effect on the quality of the final product. The
quality of water in Asia is often quite bad, and one
attempts to compensate for this by the addition of chemicals
such as metal masking products, anti-chlorine products
or resin treatment. The dosage of these chemicals
must be calculated exactly as otherwise there is the risk
of dyeing faults with a consequent inability to reproduce
the products correctly. The study examines whether water
revitalised using Grander Technology behaves differently
from local tap-water and whether it is possible by
its use to reduce the environmental impact and costs.
A summary of the results: “Introducing the revitalised
water system is a breakthrough for textile wet treatment,
because the revitalised water improves the effectiveness
of the process. The most important point for the manufacturer
is that the revitalising process does not result
in any by-products, and there is no need for electric
power, filters or chemicals. In other words, the installation
of a revitalised water system is the sole initial
investment necessary, and the system proves itself to
be advantageous for the factory from the moment it
is installed.” (The original dissertation is available in
Chinese, German and English).
Textiles treated with revitalised water
have a higher degree of whiteness; colour
pigments and contaminants
are better removed.
The Institute for Vegetable Research and Quality
Assurance within the Ministry for Agriculture
in Beijing has performed plant tests with and without
application of Grander Technology on behalf of New
DAWN Environmental Technology Co. Ltd. from Hong
Kong. In a first study they planted youcai leaf vegetables
and radishes in various test plots, where four of the plots
were irrigated with non-revitalised tap-water and the
other four plots with water revitalised using Grander
Technology. A Grander Revitalisation unit (1 1/4
size; W540) is fitted to the water-supply pipes to the
plots to be irrigated with revitalised water. The tests
were performed in Beijing at the Supervision and Testing
Centre for Vegetable Quality, Ministry of Agriculture,
from 24 December 1999 to 14 March 2000. To
ensure that the tests could be reproduced as accurately
as possible, all the plots for the water cultures were built
up from the same basic materials: grass coal, firing slag
and vermiculite. The results are obtained by calculating
the mean value of plant tests made with large numbers
of samples and they are therefore significant from a
statistical point of view. The plants were observed and
examined during all important phases of growth.
cultivation in China using the
Grander Technology
The following parameters were tested and compared
using Grander revitalised water and non-revitalised
water:
Number of leaves
Vegetable mass above ground and root fibres
underground
Dry weight of the plant above ground and root
fibres underground
Nutrient content
Proportion of extracted fibre
Na, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn
Sugar content, proteins, flavour
Yield
Results leaf vegetables:
Leaf canopies and root fibres are more developed
Vegetable mass and dry weight increase
Proportion of extracted fibres decreases
Intake of nutrients and trace elements improves
Yield increases by 13%
Roots are formed much faster in young plants,
providing the plants with greater resistance during
their first phase. In the later growth phases, the
growth forces shift from the roots to the leaves.
Results radishes:
Vegetable mass and dry weight increase
Proportion of extracted fibres decreases
Intake of nutrients and trace elements improves
Yield increases by 12.75%
In the case of radishes it is noticeable that after an
initial strong development of leaves above ground,
the increase in mass progressively shifts towards the
fruit as development proceeds. Non-revitalised plants
show a more uniform growth process. It seems that
revitalisation causes the plant’s strength to concentrate
where it is needed most.
A second study shows the effect of the application
of the Grander system to tomatoes. Test period: 8
December 1999 to 12 June 2000. The experimental
plots were set up as in the first study, although
some additional parameters were measured. Again
the high number of samples taken guarantees meaningful
results.
Results tomatoes:
The quality of the tomatoes was significantly improved
by using revitalised water:
Plant height: +13.07%
Stem thickness: +5.88%
Vegetable mass above ground: -2.67%
Dry weight of the plant above ground: +9.90%
Sugar: +24.56%
Lycopene: +25.48%
Increase of nutrients and trace elements
Extracted protein: +6.56%
Yield increase: +11.85%
It seems worth noting that the vegetable mass and
the dry weight of the root mass of the plant were 71%
higher than those in the non-revitalised control group
during the early growth phase. The increase in sugar,
minerals, lycopene and the sugar-acid ratio significantly
improve the quality of the fruit. Additionally
the different sugar-acid ratio improves the flavour
of the tomato. Another interesting thing, already
described in the previous study, is that the plants concentrate
their strength on building up a strong root
mass during their early phase, whereas the increased
growth shifts to the fruit in the later phase.
Conclusion:
It should be noted that in the experiments with
tomatoes the plants achieved greater height and a
better yield solely through revitalisation and without
additional fertilisation. The Chinese Institute for
Vegetable Research is convinced that the revitalisation
devices are uncomplicated to use and simple to implement
and recognises their positive effect by awarding
the Academy’s seal, which is accepted world-wide and
recognised by the WHO.
Research in Austria
For the first time Grander water revitalisation
has been examined scientifically within the
context of a degree dissertation. The results
confirm what is already well known from
practical application of the technology.
Science
The dissertation Physical and Physical-Chemical Data
in the Application of Revitalised and Non-revitalised
Water and the Use of Grander Water Revitalisation in
Industry was written by Klaus Faißner at the Institute
for Process and Environment Technology at the Technical
University Graz under the tutorship and approval of
Professor Rolf Marr. It contains some extremely interesting
results. The dissertation comprises two parts:
laboratory experiments comparing the physical properties
of water revitalised in accordance with Grander
Technology with non-revitalised water, and the results
of a questionnaire returned by users of Grander Technology
in various industries. In this research project Klaus
Faißner is the first to prove systematically that water
revitalised according to Grander undergoes a physical
change. The result shows that the surface tension of
the water is significantly reduced – by as much as 17%
– following revitalisation according to Grander.
In order to be able to assess the significance of this
proof properly, it is essential to consider that it is often
necessary to reduce the surface tension by adding chemicals
and detergents, or by raising the temperature. The
proof of this change in the surface tension of water
suddenly makes the statements issued by many users
of Grander Technology both plausible and comprehensible,
when they say that they need fewer detergents,
washing-up and household cleaning products but still
achieve the same cleaning effect at lower temperatures
(thereby saving energy). Other traditional physical
parameters such as ion balance, density, electrical
conductivity, pH values etc. do not show any significant
changes.
Engineer Johannes Larch, head of
the Grander Laboratory, helped
Klaus Faißner with his dissertation.
Klaus Faißner MS: “Science
is on the track of
water´s secret.”
The dissertation makes for thrilling reading when
the subject switches to practical application. Ten businesses,
ranging from a public hospital to a chemical
company to a leading specialist plastics manufacturer
with global presence, were chosen to answer questions
about their practical experience when using the Grander
Technology. The results illustrated by the student in his
dissertation are manifold. Companies and businesses
are naturally mainly interested in the operational cost
savings made possible by the application of this technology.
Savings in terms of chemicals were a particular
focus for measurements, with astonishing results: one
company stated that they achieved annual savings of
ATS 650,000 (Euro 47,237) compared to purchase
costs of ATS 160,000 (Euro 11,628). Interesting
results were posted by another company that did not
experience any significant changes. It was only after the
dissertation had been completed that adjustments were
made within the company and all chemicals purged from
the cooling circuits, resulting in complete microbiological
sanitation of the circulation-system water.
This dissertation has brought science another step
closer to the puzzle of water, and it will obviously not
be the last publication in this direction.
