President’s Report
The month of February offered a spectacular range of sell-out
Club events along with an industry exhibition which highlights
the growth and development within the current oil and gas
sector.
We would like to extend our thanks to our guest speaker Sam
Allen, Managing Director of Technip, for his informative and
insightful presentation. The concept of FLNG is very topical and
with an attendance of 300 guests at this event, this truly reflects
the value our members and industry colleagues placed on this
presentation.
We also had a sell out event of our Introduction to Petroleum
Industry Seminar at the start of February, and it is also worth
noting that the March Intro Seminar has also sold out. The
success of these seminars is a direct result of our fantastic range
of industry speakers and the voluntary contributions and time
that they provide to these events.
UPCOMING EVENTS: 12 March Dinner Event
Our next dinner event is scheduled for 12 March with Hugh
Cuthbertson, Managing Director of McDermott. This
presentation will provide a review of how much change has
occurred in the offshore construction industry over recent years
and a look ahead at the challenges facing offshore contractors.
This also leads nicely in to the May Dinner event with Mike
Sangster from TOTAL E&P of which McDermott have quite a
large involvement in their Ichthys development.
SOCIAL EVENT: SAILING REGATTA
The annual Dockwise Sailing Regatta is now open for bookings.
This is a very popular sell-out event on the social club calendar.
Only 16 boats are available each day. Get you team of 10 sailors
together and join us for a great day out on the water. This event
is excellent Corporate team building or why not invite your
clients along For those that are competitive, Intecsea are the
Thursday team to beat from 2012, and Technip team B are the
Friday defending champions.
The recent AOG was a great success for the Club with 16 new
members joining us. We would like to extend our thanks to our
AOG event partners, Diversified Exhibitions and Furniture Hire
and Sales for your support and contribution to the Club.

EDUCATION
Next Generation Report
The Next Generation schools program is now well underway.
The initial introductory school visits are completed, with the
first mentor visit scheduled for March.
As part of AOG, the Next Generation committee conducted a
number of visits to stand holders for the inclusion of interactive
elements for the Next Gen half day event and mini expo. We
believe the key is utilising the fantastic range of available
technology within the industry to help us engage with the
students at a level that the understand. Through this, we aim to
further increase their awareness of the overall industry and the
diverse facets within this sector. We were delighted with the
positive response that we received when we approached
companies at AOG to participate in the program
MENTORS
We have had an overwhelming response to our call for mentors
from many of our members and Club supporters. As we only
have a limited number of school placements available and
have created a list of guest speakers that our mentors can
access to assist with the student project research. We thank
you all for volunteering your time and making yourself
available to the students.
NEW SPONSORS
As a final note, we are delighted to welcome back APPEA and
ECU as continuing sponsors of our program and to welcome
John Holland as a new supporting sponsor of the Next
Generation program.
We still have a number of sponsorship packages available. The
more support we receive for the program the more we can
provide for the students at our half day event and mini
interactive expo.
MINI EXPO AND INTERACTIVE DISPLAY

students to further engage with the industry, please consider
assisting with the development of this expo as an official Next

A FINAL COMMENT ....

ROV Simulator at Next Gen Expo

the Next Generation Schools Program, Interactive Expo as part

for the students.
