Profile<br />

1.1 Brief overview<br />

The Public Power Corporation S.A. (PPC S.A., or the Company) is <strong>Greece</strong>’s largest company produc<strong>in</strong>g and<br />

supply<strong>in</strong>g electricity with more than 7.3 million customers. Along with its 100% subsidiaries, ADMIE S.A. and<br />

DEDDIE S.A., it owns the National Power Transmission System and the Distribution networks. PPC has extensive<br />

<strong>in</strong>frastructure that <strong>in</strong>cludes lignite m<strong>in</strong>es, generation, transmission and distribution facilities for electricity. It is<br />

also one of <strong>Greece</strong>’s largest <strong>in</strong>dustrial companies <strong>in</strong> terms of fixed assets, and is a lead<strong>in</strong>g public utility offer<strong>in</strong>g<br />

electricity <strong>in</strong> <strong>Greece</strong>.<br />

On ma<strong>in</strong>land <strong>Greece</strong> most of the Company’s production capacity is concentrated <strong>in</strong> the north of the country close<br />

to large lignite m<strong>in</strong>es which are the ma<strong>in</strong> source of fuel.<br />

The Ionian and some Aegean islands are connected to the ma<strong>in</strong>land <strong>Greece</strong> power transmission system and<br />

together with that system form the <strong>in</strong>terconnected system.<br />

The other islands are classed as non-<strong>in</strong>terconnected islands and have their own power generation plants which<br />

are oil-fuelled. In addition, demand on some islands is met by renewable energy sources (RES).<br />

PPC’s strategic goal is to ensure susta<strong>in</strong>able development, while at the same time to meet the requirements of<br />

all its stakeholders <strong>in</strong> equal measure by:<br />
