Services of Wholeness start<br />

Sept. 23 in Sanctuary<br />

The nine Services of Wholeness for <strong>2012</strong>-<br />

13 begin <strong>September</strong> 23, and each bears<br />

the name of a Biblical title of Jesus, for example,<br />

Good Shepherd, Living Word, The<br />

Way, Healer.<br />

These services are an important part<br />

of the healing ministry of our church and<br />

other churches in <strong>Georgetown</strong>.<br />

We find Jesus Christ present as Emmanuel,<br />

in Communion, and in the<br />

singing of his praises and assimilating of<br />

his word.<br />

Taize prayer music is performed during<br />

the service and includes tunes with words<br />

that are repeated in a posture of prayer.<br />

Praying through singing has a unique way<br />

of opening us to the presence of God.<br />

The same leaders will continue, with<br />

an added minister, Rev. Amy Forsythe of<br />

<strong>First</strong> United Methodist, and a new vocal<br />

soloist, Vicki Moffatt.<br />

The services are held in our sanctuary<br />

at 7:30 p.m., and are all on the 4 th Sunday<br />

of the month except the one December 9.<br />

Child care is provided, and we will try to<br />

help with transportation.<br />

All-<strong>Church</strong> Retreat<br />

<strong>September</strong> 21-23<br />

the time…It’ll be a great time of study,<br />

Barker will lead us in a study of Psalm<br />

Volunteers needed to build<br />

Habitat home in <strong>Georgetown</strong><br />

Williamson County Habitat for Humanity<br />

is building a Habitat home at 1403 Hart<br />

St., <strong>Georgetown</strong>.<br />

Those of you who have carpentry skills<br />

and/or interest: As your advocate for Habitat<br />

from FPC, I am informing you that here<br />

is an excellent mission opportunity.<br />

After <strong>September</strong> 8, we can present<br />

ourselves for work individually at the job<br />

site each Wednesday and Saturday<br />

through October. This is excellent flexibility;<br />

come and check us out.<br />

As of the newsletter deadline, preparation<br />

is under way to pour concrete footings.<br />

elected for <strong>2012</strong>-13<br />

The congregation elected a nine-member<br />

<strong>Church</strong> Officer Nominating Committee<br />

for <strong>2012</strong>-13 on August 12. They are: Session,<br />

Bill McKenna (Chair) and Courtney<br />

Root (Vice Chair); Diaconate, Lois Stanley;<br />

Trustees, Joe Porch; <strong>Presbyterian</strong> Women,<br />

Lenice Smithwick; Men’s Christian Fellowship,<br />

Marv Hulshizer; <strong>Church</strong> School,<br />

Gene Gregory; Logos/Youth, Katie Bradford;<br />

and Music Ministry, Amy Pratt.
