TRADITION A HISTORY OF SERVICE STUMP I History In 1906 Willaim Edgar Isle became manager of the Kansas City branch of the J.F. Rowley Company, which became the W.E. Isle Company in 1920. In 1923, with the purchase of the first knitting '^machine, Knit-Rite came into being. By the 1930s, departments had been established to manufacture prosthetic and orthotic components. In 1938, a 24-page catalog, offering a wide variety of supplies, was published. Through the 1950s and '60s, Knit-Rite developed as a major broad-line distributor. Through the 1970s, textile production was automated, expanded and diversified and distribution continued to expand.
