HondaJet Makes Surprise Visit To Des Moines<br />

DES MOINES, IOWA – The much-anticipated HondaJet<br />

visited Des Moines Flying Service, March 16, 2013, while<br />

conducting cold weather tests. Certification of the $4.5<br />

million bizjet is expected in 2014. Once certified, HondaJet<br />

<strong>Midwest</strong> at Aurora Municipal Airport in Sugar Grove, Illinois,<br />

will receive one of the first aircraft for customer delivery.<br />

HondaJet <strong>Midwest</strong> serves the states of Illinois, Iowa,<br />

Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska,<br />

North Dakota, South Dakota, Ohio and Wisconsin, and<br />

Glenn Kinneberg of Spring Grove, Minnesota, converted his 1941<br />

Ercoupe to mount on a three-wheeled golf cart, powered by an<br />

electric motor to run the propeller and rotating beacon. “Snoopy” goes<br />

along for the ride! Kinneberg uses his “Golfcoupe,” as he calls it, to<br />

promote aviation in community parades and to entertain people in the<br />

campground at EAA AirVenture, Oshkosh, Wis.<br />

SPRING GROVE, MINN. – Retired farmer Glenn<br />

Kinneberg has been flying for 66 years, and lives on a farm<br />

in Spring Grove, Minnesota, which his great grandfather<br />

homesteaded in 1856. Kinneberg has had an airstrip on the<br />

farm since 1947, where he bases his Piper PA-11, which<br />

he bought new in 1947. Kinneberg has been a member of<br />

the “International Flying Farmers” since 1947, and is past<br />

president of the Minnesota Flying Farmers of which he is<br />

currently Region Five Director. Kinneberg is a veteran of the<br />

U.S. Air Force.<br />

Kinneberg wrote a book about his flying called “Flaps Up.”<br />

In 2012, he flew to EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin<br />

with 185 Piper Cubs, and got the oldest pilot award and<br />

an award for owning his airplane longer than anyone else<br />

there…65 years.<br />
