Dr. Benhardt Yemo Quarshie, <strong>for</strong>mer Senior Lecturer, Dept. <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Study</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Religions</strong>,<br />

Dr. Brigid Maa Sackey (cf. also http://www.a-asr.org/index.phpid=377), who served<br />

as Acting Director <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Institute <strong>of</strong> <strong>African</strong> Studies <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Ghana in<br />

2008 and 2009, was promoted to Full Pr<strong>of</strong>essor in 2009, shortly be<strong>for</strong>e her compulsory<br />

retirement. She delivered her inaugural lecture on February 3, 2011. For <strong>the</strong> summary<br />

<strong>of</strong> its contents, see above. She is on a post-retirement contract now with <strong>the</strong> Centre <strong>of</strong><br />

Social Policy Studies in <strong>the</strong> School <strong>of</strong> Graduate Studies <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Ghana.<br />

Dr. Cephas N. Omenyo, Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor in <strong>the</strong> Dept. <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Study</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Religions</strong><br />

(cf. also http://www.a-asr.org/index.phpid=460), has been appointed Acting Dean <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Arts <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Ghana in August 2011.<br />

Dr. Elom Dovlo, Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor in <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Study</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Religions</strong> (cf.<br />

also http://www.a-asr.org/index.phpid=453), served as Vice-Dean <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong><br />

Arts <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Ghana till August 2011. He has now been appointed Acting<br />

Deputy Director in charge <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Distance Learning Programme <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong><br />

Ghana. In addition, he teaches and supervises research students in <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>for</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> <strong>Study</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Religions</strong>.<br />

Marja Hinfelaar, PhD (2001) in History (Utrecht University, Ne<strong>the</strong>rlands;<br />

http://www.a-asr.org/index.phpid=370) resided as an historian and an independent<br />

academic in Zambia since 1997. Her projects <strong>the</strong>re include <strong>the</strong> coordination <strong>of</strong><br />

digitization projects at <strong>the</strong> National Archives <strong>of</strong> Zambia, Livingstone Museum and<br />

ANC/UNIP archives. Research topics are post-colonial history, church-state relations,<br />

politics and elections She is also <strong>the</strong> coordinator <strong>of</strong> longitudinal study on political party<br />

dynamics at <strong>the</strong> constituency level in <strong>the</strong> run-up to <strong>the</strong> 2011 elections in Zambia; a<br />

founder member and editor <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong> Lembani Trust, a Zambian academic publishing<br />

house; and Member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> advisory board <strong>of</strong> Journal <strong>of</strong> Sou<strong>the</strong>rn <strong>African</strong> Studies. In<br />

2012 she will take up a new appointment as Director <strong>of</strong> Programs and Research <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

newly established Sou<strong>the</strong>rn Africa Institute <strong>for</strong> Policy and Research (SAIPAR) at<br />

Lusaka, Zambia.
