FAST FRIENDS WHAT IS FAST FRIENDS Friends of the Children’s mission is to provide our most vulnerable children a nurturing and sustained relationship with a who teaches positive values and has attainable expectations for each child to become a healthy, productive member of our community. Through the Friends program, commitments are made to children for 12 ½ years. One of our three long-term goals for program participants is success in school. This is evidenced by obtaining a high school diploma or GED, which 86% of our youth achieve. As students graduate from the formal Friends program, many of them want to further their education by attending college or a trade school. Fast Friends was founded in 2009 to help these youth reach their long-term goals. Fast Friends is a group of Friends of the Children supporters committed to assisting program graduates in paying for tuition and expenses at traditional four-year colleges, community colleges and trade and vocational schools. Fast Friends supporters are commited to helping graduates obtain sustainable careers that will support themselves and their families well into the future. FRIENDS FOREVER SOCIETY & CHILD INVESTMENT PROGRAM Each year, Friends of the Children Portland works to grow its program and serve more children in need of a Friend. As the number of benefiting youth increases, the Friends Forever Society and Child Investment Program are necessary parts of sustaining services for years to come.
