Admission Requirements
for September 2012 Intake
Scholarships
Grades for BSc programme for Sept 2012 intake:-
• A-Levels: BBC with Grade B in Chemistry and 2 other subjects, such
as Biology, Physics or Mathematics.
• STPM: B+B+B in Chemistry and 2 other Science subjects or
Mathematics.
• IB Diploma: 28 points, including Chemistry and 5 points in
Mathematics (SL).
• UEC: 4As, including Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, or Biology
and Grade B in 2 other academic subjects.
• SAM/AUSMAT/HSC: ATAR (UAI)/TER/ENTER 82, including
Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
• Canadian Pre-U: 80% average based on 6 subjects, including
Mathematics and Science subjects.
• Nottingham Foundation in Science: Average pass mark of 40% or
above, including a pass in all Chemistry modules.
• SPM/GCSE/IGCSE must have Grade B in Mathematics.
• Other equivalent qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case
basis.
English Language Requirements
• IELTS: 6.0 (with no elements below 5.5)
• TOEFL (iBT): 79 (with no elements below 19)
• SPM: Grade B+
• 1119 (GCE O): Grade C
• GCSE/IGCSE: Grade C
• UEC: Grade B3
• IB English A1 or A2 (SL or HL): 4 points
IB English B HL: 4 points
IB English B SL: 5 points
• Muet Band 5 may also be considered
• IELTS and TOEFL test results must be less than 2 years old.
Our university scholarships are only applicable to privately-funded
students.
High Achievers’ Scholarship (HAS)
HAS will be awarded to both MPharm and BSc students with the
following qualifications and grades:
• A-levels 3As (including A in Chemistry; Thinking Skills and General
Studies not counted)
• STPM 3As (including A in Chemistry; A- and General Paper not
counted)
• UEC (7As including A in Chemistry)
Students who meet these criteria automatically receive a 25% reduction
in their Year 1 tuition fee. Students must submit their Offer Acceptance
forms and pay their acceptance fee before the HAS may be awarded to
them.
The HAS is awarded for one academic year only. Students may
subsequently be eligible at the point of progression for the Dean’s
Excellence Scholarship.
Dean’s Excellence Scholarship (DES)
The DES amounts to a fee reduction of 25%. These scholarships are
awarded to top achieving students at the point of progression for each
academic year, i.e. from:
• Year 1 to Year 2 (for MPharm and BSc students)
• Year 2 to Year 3 (for BSc students)
All students are eligible for the DES irrespective of whether they
qualified for the Year 1 HAS.
