Admission Requirements<br />

for September 2012 Intake<br />

Scholarships<br />

Grades for BSc programme for Sept 2012 intake:-<br />

• A-Levels: BBC with Grade B in Chemistry and 2 other subjects, such<br />

as Biology, Physics or Mathematics.<br />

• STPM: B+B+B in Chemistry and 2 other Science subjects or<br />

Mathematics.<br />

• IB Diploma: 28 points, including Chemistry and 5 points in<br />

Mathematics (SL).<br />

• UEC: 4As, including Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, or Biology<br />

and Grade B in 2 other academic subjects.<br />

• SAM/AUSMAT/HSC: ATAR (UAI)/TER/ENTER 82, including<br />

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.<br />

• Canadian Pre-U: 80% average based on 6 subjects, including<br />

Mathematics and Science subjects.<br />

• <strong>Nottingham</strong> Foundation in Science: Average pass mark <strong>of</strong> 40% or<br />

above, including a pass in all Chemistry modules.<br />

• SPM/GCSE/IGCSE must have Grade B in Mathematics.<br />

• Other equivalent qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case<br />

basis.<br />

English Language Requirements<br />

• IELTS: 6.0 (with no elements below 5.5)<br />

• TOEFL (iBT): 79 (with no elements below 19)<br />

• SPM: Grade B+<br />

• 1119 (GCE O): Grade C<br />

• GCSE/IGCSE: Grade C<br />

• UEC: Grade B3<br />

• IB English A1 or A2 (SL or HL): 4 points<br />

IB English B HL: 4 points<br />

IB English B SL: 5 points<br />

• Muet Band 5 may also be considered<br />

• IELTS and TOEFL test results must be less than 2 years old.<br />

Our university scholarships are only applicable to privately-funded<br />

students.<br />

High Achievers’ Scholarship (HAS)<br />

HAS will be awarded to both MPharm and BSc students with the<br />

following qualifications and grades:<br />

• A-levels 3As (including A in Chemistry; Thinking Skills and General<br />

Studies not counted)<br />

• STPM 3As (including A in Chemistry; A- and General Paper not<br />

counted)<br />

• UEC (7As including A in Chemistry)<br />

Students who meet these criteria automatically receive a 25% reduction<br />

in their Year 1 tuition fee. Students must submit their Offer Acceptance<br />

forms and pay their acceptance fee before the HAS may be awarded to<br />

them.<br />

<strong>The</strong> HAS is awarded for one academic year only. Students may<br />

subsequently be eligible at the point <strong>of</strong> progression for the Dean’s<br />

Excellence Scholarship.<br />

Dean’s Excellence Scholarship (DES)<br />

<strong>The</strong> DES amounts to a fee reduction <strong>of</strong> 25%. <strong>The</strong>se scholarships are<br />

awarded to top achieving students at the point <strong>of</strong> progression for each<br />

academic year, i.e. from:<br />

• Year 1 to Year 2 (for MPharm and BSc students)<br />

• Year 2 to Year 3 (for BSc students)<br />

All students are eligible for the DES irrespective <strong>of</strong> whether they<br />

qualified for the Year 1 HAS.
