PJ Party Fundraiser Dance 

Right before the holidays, help make a difference in a child’s life. 

We will be hosting our Third Annual Pajama Party fundraiser. Help make 

a difference in many children’s lives this season. The Pajama program offers 

warm pajamas and books to needy children, many who are waiting and hoping 

to be adopted. They are youngsters who do not know the comforts of a mother 

or father to tuck them into a cozy bed and read them a bedtime story. Many of 

these less fortunate kids have been abandoned or abused; most deprived of any 

love at all. Every year VillageWalk of Bonita Springs will be taking part in this 

wonderful endeavor to help those children in need. Join us in the Town Center 

on Saturday, November 14 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. for this themed dance. DJ 

George Nice will be rockin’ the night away for all attendees. If you would like 

to get in the spirit of the event, please come dressed 

in your PJ’s! We will provide the ice, cups, and 

non-alcoholic beverages. So BYOB and bring a 

snack to be shared with your table. $5.00 

per person with a pair of PJ’s, 

$10.00 per person without. If 

you are unable to attend our 

party, but would still like to 

donate to this worthy cause, 

we have a donation box 

located in the Town Center for 

early drop off. The Pajama Program 

is looking for PJ’s in all sizes 

and gently used or brand-new

and FREE Breakfast! 

Display all of your garage sale items in one central 

location in the Town Center! Join us for this fabulous 

event on Saturday, November 7 from 8:00-11:00 a.m. 

Bring your own table and chair. Set up will begin 

at 7am. No early birds please. If you are in need of a 

table they can be rented for $5 from the HOA Office. 

One table per resident, while supplies last! If 

you have large pieces of furniture to sell, 

bring pictures and get ready to negotiate!

An Afternoon of 

Fashion and Chocolate! 

Join us for this afternoon of fashion and desserts on 

Friday, November 13 here at the Town Center beginning 

at 2:00 p.m. Boutique on Wheels offers a unique Fashion 

Show Program that every woman will love. Their clothes 

are washable, perfect to travel in, take on a cruise, and they 

come in separates and sets! The best thing is they bring 

racks and racks of clothes with them on the day of the 

show. If you see something that you love, you can actually 

take it home with you that day! They carry all sizes from 

small to x-large in average and petite lengths; of course, 

some smaller and larger sizes are available. All forms of 

payment are accepted. For groups of 30 people or more, 

ten lucky participants will receive a $5.00 gift certificate 

to be drawn at the conclusion of the program! So get 

your girlfriends together and enjoy some fashion on 

this Friday afternoon. Please make reservations by

planning purposes. 

To make this fashion show a success, I am looking 

for five models to participate in the show. Models can be 

sizes 8-18 and only need to arrive with a pair of dress

Volunteer Recruitment Fair/ 

Country Store 

Are you looking for something to do that will benefit the 

community Why not become an active part of the Bonita 

Springs community and volunteer at the local charities 

VillageWalk is hosting our first Volunteer recruitment Fair 

here at the Town Center. Representatives of local nonprofit 

charities are coming to VillageWalk on Saturday, 

November 14 from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. to speak with 

interested residents about volunteer opportunities. Charities 

on-site include: Harry Chapin Food bank, YMCA, the 

Literacy Council of Bonita Springs, Music for Minors, 

Susan G. Komen, American Red Cross, Center for the 

Arts and more! Do something good for the community; 

VOLUNTEER! Free muffins, juice and coffee will be 

available for all. While you are in the Town Center, stop 

by the Country Store that will be going on as well. Various 

resident vendors will have items on display to get your 

holiday shopping done in the convenience of your own 

community! Tables are $5.00 for residents and $15.00 for 

non-residents.

Botanical Gardens Tour 

Experience the beauty of Naples at the newly renovated 

Botanical Gardens on Thursday, November 19 at 10:00 

a.m. This guided tour will take us through two beautifully 

cultivated gardens --Caribbean, Brazilian, and an 

interactive Children’s Garden on 70 acres that reflect a 

profound mastery of landscape design and architecture. The 

garden, along with three acres of natural areas, showcases 

seven natural habitats unique to our area, a tropical 

paradise. All guests should wear appropriate shoes and 

clothing for an active, outdoor walk. Your day includes 

admission, a one-hour guided tour by an experienced 

garden guide, and a 10% off coupon redeemable at the 

Garden Gift Shop. The cost for this guided tour is $12.00 

per person. Please RSVP with the Town Center by Monday,

Deep Sea Fishing on the 

Connie Jean 

Hop on this 31’ Contender fishing boat on Monday, 

November 23 rd , 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for a 3/4 

day fishing trip on the Connie Jean! Venturing 15 

- 20 miles out into the Gulf of Mexico fishing for 

Grouper, Snapper, Flounder, Snook, Yellowtail and 

more! Your day includes: charter, rod, reel, tackle, 

bait, license and fish filleting. The Connie Jean also 

provides water and Gatorade. All other beverages 

(and food) is BYOB, however, a cooler with ice is 

provided for your convenience. 

This charter departs from the Cocohatchee 

Marina (North Naples) as the fishing from this 

location has proven good. The minimum for 

this trip is four persons and the maximum is six 

persons. Pricing is as follows: four persons, 

$125.00 each; five persons, $100.00 each; or six 

persons, $84.00 each. Please RSVP to the HOA

Segway Tour of Ft. Myers Beach! 

Wednesday, November 25th 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. 

The Ft. Myers Beach guided Segway tour combines the 

coolest personal transportation device with beautiful vistas of 

Estero and San Carlos Islands. Your Segway adventure begins 

at the Yucatan Beach Stand Bar and Grill located one half 

block from Times Square on Ft. Myers Beach. Following basic 

operational and safety instructions, riders are allowed to “warm 

up” (aprox.5 mins.) prior to departure. The tour leaves the 

Yucatan and proceeds down to Times Square. The group then 

travels on sidewalks and quiet side streets to Bowditch Park 

located at the extreme north end of Estero Island. The tour then 

backtracks to the Matanzas bridge, then safely proceeds down 

the Matanzas Bridge and heads south towards Shrimp Boat 

Lane and the Ft. Myers Beach shrimping fleet. Then up Main 

Street to Bonita Bills Waterfront Bar & Grill. Refreshments 

(beer, wine, soft drinks) are provided to tour patrons free of 

charge. The group then leaves Bonita renegotiates the Mantazas 

bridge and returns to the Yucatan.

Spa Day 

Everyone wants to be pampered! Join us in the Town 

Center on Tuesday, November 17 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 

p.m. for this morning of pampering. Contour Body Works 

will be coming into our Town Center to share with us some 

of the unique treatments they offer. Each participant will 

be able to try two free treatments and have a chance to win 

fabulous door prizes! The treatment choices are as follows: 

15-minute chair massage, Mini Facial, Pulse Electro- 

Magnetic therapy or a Foot Detox. You may register for your 

treatments at time of payment. A limited number of time 

slots are available for each treatment. Register early. Muffins, 

fruit and Juice will be provided. Maximum of 20 residents 

for this day of beauty. Cost is $5.00 per person to cover the 

food, beverage and all paper goods. 

New Year’s Eve 2009-2010 

Putting on the Ritz 

Join us on Thursday, December 31 for this 

elegant evening at the Town Center to ring in 

the New Year! Get dolled up and come ready 

to be pampered, because this is going to be the 

affair of the year. Be prepared to dance the 

night away as DJ Joe Subin will be keeping the 

party going until 1:00 a.m. 

Your evening will begin at 8:00 p.m. with 

passed Hors D’oeuvres; marinated grilled 

Gulf shrimp, chicken salad stuffed baby bells, 

artichoke and spinach stuffed mushroom caps, 

and a display of assorted cheeses, crudites, 

crackers and dip. 

Next we will move into the ballrooms for a 

plated dinner which consists of baby spinach 

salad with mangos, macadamia nuts and dried 

cranberries with rolls and butter. You will enjoy 

a dual entree consisting of Beef Brochette (kabob 

of tenderloin tips with peppers, onions, and 

cherry tomatoes) and bronzed Mahi-Mahi with 

Mango Chutney, Rosemary roasted red bliss 

potatoes and Christian’s famous green beans. 

To follow throughout the evening is dessert 

(a Coupe Maison [French berries with raspberry 

puree and French vanilla cream sauce]), coffee 

service, assorted petit-fours, chocolate dipped 

strawberries for each table, and a champagne toast.

Tree Trimming Party!

7:00-8:00 p.m. for our second annual Tree 

Trimming Party in the Town Center! 

Holiday music, coffee and dessert will 

be free for all residents in attendance. 

For admission, we ask that you bring 

an ornament for our community tree. 

Please feel free to be creative with 

your ornaments and personalize 

them as you wish. We are hoping 

to recreate this tradition year after 

year. We are in need of some 

bakers and volunteers to make this

Holiday Dinner Dance 

Join us on Friday, December 4 from 6:30-10:00 p.m. in the 

Town Center for our Holiday Party! Doors open at 6:00 p.m.

famous Billie Dean and Dawn performing live on our stage. 

Dinner will be catered by Southern Accents featuring the 

Holiday Feast which includes Roast Turkey with Gravy, Baked 

Pit Ham, Whipped Potatoes, Cornbread Stuffing, Peas and 

Onions, Garden Salad, Cranberry Sauce, Rolls and Butter, 

and a themed dessert. Enjoy dinner, dancing and a whole lot

Cookie Exchange 

Join us in the Town Center on Monday, December 14 at 

7:00 p.m. for our Community Cookie Exchange! Each attendee 

should bring 3 dozen (36 treats) of one type of home-made 

holiday cookie or candy (please nothing requiring refrigeration). 

This is a wonderful way to meet your neighbors, get some great 

recipes, and impress your friends and family with a delightful 

assortment of holiday treats! $2.00 per person to cover the cost 

of light refreshments and snacks. Remember to bring a container 

to place your new cookies in! If we have 36 people sign up, then 

everyone receives 3 of each Holiday Cookie. Please remember

Muscle Car Museum Tour 

Get ready all of you hot rod fans! We are 

headed to Punta Gorda on Sunday, November 

29 for this day of Muscle Cars and fun. We will

1:00 p.m. Muscle Car City is a 99,000 squarefoot 

museum with well over 200 vintage ’50s 

to early ’70s muscle cars featuring classic cars

cars from ’67-’70 Z-28 Camaros, ’68-’71 

396 Camaros, ’64-’71 SS Chevelles, ’65-’71 

SS El Caminos, ’58-’67 Big Block Impalas, 

’64-’71 Pontiac GTOs, ’64-’72 Oldsmobile 

442s and a huge assortment of hot rods and 

antique Chevys. In addition to the museum, 

you may enjoy lunch on own at the famous 

Muscle Car City Diner which has old-fashioned

The Memorabilia Store, which is one of the

Children’s Holiday Affair 

Join us in the Town Center on Thursday, December 10 at 

6:30 p.m. Don’t miss out on Santa’s Special Arrival, Pictures 

with Santa, Cookies and Milk, Coloring Contest and much 

more. $6.00 per child, parents and guests are free. Sign up 

and payment must be made at the Town Center window 

by Tuesday, December 8. Please don’t wait until the last 

minute. We want to make sure we have enough goodies for 

all of the children. We are looking for a few bakers to make

Hanukah Lighting! 

Join us on Friday, December 11 at 

sundown to light the Menorah. We will 

gather in the Town Center main lobby for 

this special occasion. No entry fee but we do 

ask that you bring a themed dish or dessert 

to share. Small plates, napkins, water and coffee will be 

provided. Please RSVP to the Town Center by Thursday, 

December 10 for planning purposes. 

Festival of Lights 

Join Expanding Horizons on Wednesday, December 16 as 

we take a trolley ride to the Edison Estates Holiday Nights! 

This Historic site prides itself on recreating the holiday 

tradition in the days of the Edison and Ford families and their 

hundreds of visitors. The historic buildings, porches, interior 

rooms and the gardens are all seasonally decorated. This year, 

there is a new spin - the lights will be brilliantly colored which 

was the fashion and original design of the 1920’s. Even if you 

have seen the Edison Home in the past, this year is going to 

be even more amazing! Upon arrival back at the Town Center 

join us for a holiday social. Please BYOB and any snacks/ 

holiday cookies you may wish to munch on! The trolley will 

depart from the Bocce Courts at 6:30 p.m. Please arrive at 6:15 

p.m. to check in. This evening out is only $25.00 per person. 

Space is limited so please register at the HOA Office early. 

Sunset Cruise on Cocohatchee 

Enjoy a romantic evening out on the water while watching 

the sun set in the distance. Join us on Sunday, December 20 

as we set sail aboard the Cocohatchee Nature Centers sunset 

cruise. Hors d’oeuvres on the patio deck will begin at 4:15 

p.m. Cruise departs at 4:30 p.m. and returns at 7:00 p.m. 

$26.00 per person for the Sunset Cruise which includes hors 

d’oeuvres and gratuity. Please sign up at the HOA Office

Ladies Christmas Tea 

Join us on Wednesday, December 2 from 

1:30-4:00 p.m. for this holiday event. You will be greeted 

with a champagne reception in a beautiful, formal holiday 

environment and have the opportunity to shop both before 

and after a delicious, traditional tea presentation. This 

tea benefits the Jamaican Outreach Program. For more

Living Christmas Tree 

Join us on Sunday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m. for this year’s 

presentation called, “The Christmas Post”. Week after week, 

year after year, decade into decade, The Saturday Evening 

Post found its way into American homes and hearts. The 

corner barbershop, the pediatrician’s waiting room, the lobby 

of the local bank—the magazine was simply everywhere, 

a part of the national decor. And gracing the cover, issue 

after issue, was the wonderful world of Norman Rockwell. 

In singular moments of triumph, whimsy and heartache, 

Norman Rockwell captured the American spirit on canvas. 

The postman, the sales girl, the soldier, the kid next door—he 

painted us all—everyday Americans. Each picture was a story 

about folks we knew and people we cared about—a story so 

vivid you could practically see it come to life right there on the 

cover of the Saturday Evening Post. So...What if it did come 

to life What if you could just walk into the magical world of 

a Rockwell painting The Christmas Post does just that. From 

the moment the lights come up on Hattie McGee’s tiny news 

hut on a snowy Christmas Eve in 1947, until the curtain falls 

late that afternoon on the exhausted Alice Garfield in the toy 

department of Herzog’s Department Store, The Christmas 

Post takes us into a world of ordinary Americans who, just 

like people today, need to rediscover their faith in Jesus and 

be reminded of what Christmas is really all about. Tickets go 

on-sale Tuesday, November 2. $8.50 each. Limited number of 

seats available. Once they are gone, they are gone! 

Angel/Shoe Tree 

Come support our local charities this holiday season. 

VillageWalk will be hosting an angel tree for two important 

local charities, the Shoe that Fits and the Salvation Army. 

The tree is centrally located in the Town Center and is full 

of children in need. Please pick a child from the tree and 

purchase a gift for them for the holidays. All gifts should 

be received no later than Monday, December 14 by 4:00 

p.m. Please drop your gifts off to the HOA or the Activities 

Office with the child’s information attached. All gifts

Selby Gardens 

Join us on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 as we take a trip up 

to Sarasota to visit Selby Gardens and St. Armand’s Circle! 

Selby Gardens is the home to ever-changing botanical art and 

photography exhibits. The garden is home to 20,000 plants, 

seven greenhouses, stunning orchid display houses, a colorful 

Koi Pond, an outdoor butterfly garden, world-class exhibitions 

and much more. From there we will head to the famous St. 

Armand’s circle where we will enjoy lunch on our own and 

some time for shopping! Superb exclusive shops, galleries, 

exotic boutiques, sophisticated restaurants are all located in 

St. Armand’s Circle. We depart VillageWalk at 8:15 a.m. and

Are you ready for some Pro Bowl Football! The Pro 

Bowl is being held in the mainland for the first time 

in 30 years and it’s in Miami! Join 86 of the NFL’s 

brightest stars at the Land Shark (Miami Dolphins) 

Stadium. The cost of the trip would be $95.00 

per person, on Sunday, January 31 and would 

include; transportation to and from VillageWalk, 

Tailgate Party at stadium featuring hot grilled 

food, sandwiches, sides, dessert, beer, wine, nonalcoholic

The seats are located in the Upper End Zone. We

Painting on Glass! 

Unleash your creative powers by learning how to 

paint on glass! No experience is required, only your

Container Gardening Seminar 

Susan Gold from Pottery As Art will be discussing 

Lanai Gardening for SW Florida gardeners. She will 

demonstrate how decorative containers are a great 

way for the garden lover to embellish whatever space 

is available. Aside from the basics (pots, soil, plants, 

watering, fertilizing & hurricane tips) special attention 

will be paid to planning and designing your containers. 

A hands-on demonstration will amaze you at the ease 

of creating your own professional looking container. 

All attendees will enter for a drawing to receive the pot 

Susan has designed. She will also offer special hints 

on maintaining and caring for your container gardens in

Fly-tying class

learn the sound fundamentals of tying our own saltwater 

fishing flies. This two-hour class is focused on the basics 

techniques for tying the saltwater flies used by local guides 

for Snook, Tarpon, Redfish, Bonefish, and everything 

in between. All equipment and materials required for 

the class are provided, but you may bring your own 

equipment if you would like. This is a serious “handson” 

class and not a show-and-tell affair. Both men and 

women are welcome and will enjoy learning this creative 

art. Our main objective is to have plenty of fun and at 

the same time, learn essential skills in fly tying. Students

Join the VillageWalk Bike Club for our second outing of the

Hooked on Books/Book Fair 

Village Walk Book Club Wednesday November 12, 2009 

Hooked on Books members will gather at 12:00 p.m. 

for a brown-bag lunch and to view the film “Pride and 

Prejudice.” In a remote Hertfordshire village, a country 

squire must marry off his five vivacious daughters. 

At the heart of this all-consuming enterprise are his 

headstrong second daughter, Elizabeth Bennet, and 

her aristocratic suitor, Fitzwilliam Darcy, two lovers 

whose pride must be humbled and prejudice dissolved 

before this novel can come to its conclusion. Rosalie 

Marchesani will lead the discussion following the film.

Expanding Horizons 

Join “Expanding Horizons” when we go to the 

Metropolitan Opera’s live simulcast of Bizet’s popular opera, 

Carmen, on January 16, 2010 at 1:00 at the Coconut Point 

Hollywood Movie Theater. Carmen is the story of a fiery 

gypsy, Carmen, and her lover, Don Jose. With a plot full 

of passion and violence, it is rich with luscious arias, glorious 

sets, costumes, and, of course, divine singing. This will truly 

be a feast for the eyes, ears and soul. Tickets are limited

Bee Swarms Seen

Precautions to Take 

What makes a honey bee colony swarm 

Overcrowding and congestion in the nest are 

factors which cause colonies to swarm. 

Are honey bee swarms dangerous 

No - honey bees exhibit defensive behavior only 

in the vicinity of their nest. Defensive behavior is 

needed to protect their young and food supply. A 

honey bee swarm has neither young nor food stores 

and will not exhibit defensive behavior unless unduly 

provoked. 

What type of nesting sites will honey bees seek 

Honey bees are cavity nesters and will seek a cavity 

of at least 15 liters of storage space. Hollow trees are 

preferred nesting sites. Occasionally, bees will nest in 

the hollow walls of buildings, under porches, and in 

other “man-made” sites if they can find an entrance to 

a suitable cavity. 

What can be done if a honey bee swarm establishes 

itself in an undesirable place 

If honey bees nest in the walls of a home, they 

can be removed or killed if necessary; however, it 

is advisable to open the area and remove the honey 

and combs or rodents and insects will be attracted. 

After removal, the cavity should be filled with foam 

insulation as the nest odor will be attractive to future 

swarms. You may want to seek the assistance of a 

professional beekeeper or exterminator. Nests should 

be removed promptly from problem sites. After 

several months, they may have stored a considerable 

amount of honey. Bee keepers and removal 

companies can be found in the Yellow Pages. 

You can prevent swarms from nesting in walls 

by preventative maintenance. Honey bees will not 

make an entrance to a nest. They look for an existing 

entrance, so periodic inspection and caulking is all 

that is necessary to prevent them from occupying 

spaces in walls. Check your soffit and other areas for 

cracks and spaces where bees can enter, and caulk to 

protect your home.

Holiday Décor 

You may light your home for the holidays beginning 

the day after Thanksgiving and all seasonal décor must 

be removed by no later than January 10 th . Keep in mind 

that neither the Association nor any vendor will be 

held responsible to any damages that may occur while 

maintaining your lawn or shrubs. It is possible that if you 

have decorations in the yard your home will not be mowed. 

Pool Rules 

As season is upon us we find it necessary to remind you 

of a few items. Please let your visitors know that glass is 

NEVER permitted at the pool. Shower before entering 

the pool, especially if you are leaving the fitness center. 

It is very important to be aware of your verbiage. Many 

families are in the pool area during the holiday months 

and we do not want to offend anyone with inappropriate 

language. Thanks for your cooperation. 

Ballroom Window Tint 

In October we had the Western windows in the ballroom 

tinted. This will not only reduce the heat factor in the 

ballroom but it will also cut down on the glare as the sun 

sets in the evening.
