StyroCut: Important technical novelties and special offer
For StyroCut there is not only a new manual
available, but also essential improvements have
been realized. On the one hand the cutting wire now
is led through a metal clamp pad on the table
whereby working gets more simple and is easy to
the table. On the other hand a socket for the manual
device is assigned, which simplifies its use. StyroCut
is supplied in improved version by now.

Unimat1, UniTurn and UniMill: technical training
instrument range
Universiti Teknologi MARA decided to
equip their workshops at campus
Kedah with StyroCut, Unimat1,
UniTurn and UniMill. The co-workers of
the institution had been instructed in
situ by our chief-engineer, Mr. Ing.
Alexander Pasicznyk, and the
machines had been given their final
rub. The entire machine park is now at
the student’s disposal. In the beginning
a solid basic knowledge can be earned
on the Unimat1 machines. Larger
workpieces and materials like steel can
be worked with the mills and lathes
UniMill and UniTurn. In Universiti
Teknologi MARA we found a very
interesting and ambitious partner. We
are already looking forward to
equipping the machines for CNCcontrol
in a further step.

The Precise range now has a new, larger
member in the family, the Precise 1000 with a
working range of 1015 x 600 mm and a Z axis
with 160 mm lifting height.
This machine is designed for industrial users
who often have to produce large parts. To meet
especially high requirements, as an option we
plan to produce this machine with supported
guides and circulating ball spindle.

DeskProto 4 – New Version and Price Cut
In early February Delft Spline Systems announced the 1000th user of its DeskProto CAM
software for Rapid Prototyping.
"The production cost of software is almost independent of the number of licenses sold, so
a higher sales volume makes lower prices possible. The milestone of selling the 1000th
license is a very good occasion to announce new, lower prices for DeskProto."
What’s new
• The N-Sided Milling Wizard, which enables rotation axis users to machine a part
from several (N) sides, making it possible to cut very complex parts without undercuts.
• High on the user's wish list was the Waterline strategy, with tool paths on constant
Z-level.
• Second new strategy is the Contour-only strategy, which is useful both for roughing
(machining the block to size first) and for finishing (contour at higher precision).
• Also new is the Spiral strategy, where the top view is a real spiral.
• Simple 2D Machining has been implemented, using a new 2D Operation. This allows
you to import a 2D DXF file, enter Z-levels for "pen-up" and "pen-down" and machine
the lines in the file.
• Optionally you can even project the 2D contours on the 3D geometry.
• DeskProto now can show a Machining Simulation: a rendering on screen of the part
to be machined. The simulation shows where the cutter cannot reach (rest material),
how smooth the surface will be, and eventually also where too much material will be
removed.

50 years International Treaty
This year Austria has a special anniversary. 50
years ago the International Treaty was signed
to restore an independent and democratic
Austria.
On May 15 th 1955 Leopold Figl, Foreign
Minister of that period (and former Federal
Chancellor), presented the just signed
International Treaty on the balcony of Castle
Belvedere. A short time ago at signing the
treaty he had spoken the legendary words
“Austria is free!”…
The document was a treaty between Austria
and the victor nations of WW II, France, Great
Britain, USA and USSR. With this treaty the
small country in the heart of Europe got back
its sovereignty. 1938 Austria became part of
the German Empire. As this it took part in the
World war. Since April 27 th 1945 the country
was independent again, but occupied by
France, Great Britain, USA and USSR.
The common patrolling representatives of the
occupying powers, called “The four in the
Jeep”, formed the street life of the devastated
Danubian metropolis.
