Regular Meeting, April 30, 2008 2 2. Proclamation given to Livingston Park School – 2008 New Jersey School of Character Be it resolved by the Board of Education that the following resolution be approved: WHEREAS, the Board of Education recognizes the efforts of our staff to perform above the highest levels of academic standards, it also recognizes the accomplishment of exceptional achievement; and, WHEREAS, the Board of Education recognizes the importance of the pursuit of academic excellence, and values teaching accomplishments, and it wishes to make known its pleasure to those teachers who have put forth a consistent effort throughout their teaching careers; and, WHEREAS, with a firm determination to be diligent while preserving excellence, they stand among their peers and represented the North Brunswick Township School District, and themselves, in an exemplary manner; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this public acclaim be given to the staff of Livingston Park School for their recognition as a 2008 New Jersey School of Character. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the staff at Livingston Park School shall be recognized appropriately, and that a copy of this resolution be spread in the permanent minutes of this Board. 3. Mrs. Segally, a teacher at John Adams, was the recipient of the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program. A presentation by John Adams students was given about Japan. MEETING MINUTES: 5. A motion was made by Mr. Malvone and seconded by Mrs. Padovano to approve the following Board minutes: Special Meeting - March 1, 2008 Special Meeting - March 5, 2008 Executive Session - March 5, 2008 Special Meeting - March 11, 2008 Conference Meeting - March 12, 2008 Special Meeting - March 17, 2008 Executive Session - March 17, 2008 Regular Public Meeting - March 19, 2008 Executive Session A and B - March 19, 2008 Special Meeting - March 26, 2008 The results of the motion were: All present voted aye. 6. Communications: None REPORTS: 7. A motion was made by Mr. Malvone and seconded by Mrs. Hirrschoff to approve the following reports: Administrative Report • Isaac Lee, grade 12 and Mark Enache, grade 11won 1st and 3rd place awards respectively, for their photography entries in the annual "Congressional Art Competition" sponsored by Rush Holt. This competition is held nationwide in every Congressional District, culminating in the grand prizewinners from each District having their works displayed in the Capitol Building for a full year. Although Isaac's photo did not win the Grand Prize, it garnered enough attention from the judges that Rep. Holt will have his work on display in his offices in Washington for a full year. • Pamela Reyes, grade 11, entered her hand-thrown ceramic pitcher in the annual "Clay in Mind" exhibit/competition in Burlington, NJ this past weekend earning a 2nd place finish. Her pitcher is now on display at the Clay Studio in Philadelphia, where it will remain for the next several weeks. Printed 5-2-08
Regular Meeting, April 30, 2008 3 • Amit Singh, grade 11, won the Greater Middlesex Conference First Singles Tennis Tournament on Saturday, held at Thomas Edison Park at Middlesex County College. Amit joins his brother, Gaurav, the 2005 champion for North Brunswick, as a GMC first-singles champion. • Rishi Tirumala, grade 10, auditioned for the Region II Jazz Band and was awarded First Chair Alto Saxophone. This ensemble encompasses every school in Central Jersey. • Sandra Roberts, Student Assistance Counselor, has received her State certification for Disaster Response Crisis Counselor. She joins Val Elko and Colleen Kacerosky in this very prestigious distinction. • Mariano Buttitta, technology teacher at Linwood, has been awarded the Technology Teaching Excellence award by the New Jersey Technology Education Association. Student Report - Tanya Witlen • Talent Show Fund Raiser went well. • Mr. Chesler is the in Advisor for Student Government Organization. Elections of officers will be taking place.
