HERE’S AN IDEA! Take a look at giving electronically! It’s easy, convenient and saves trees! Please call the church office and speak to Ginny Denmark, or go to our website, www.fumctc.com and look under resources to get the authorization form to fill out. NEW WORSHIP TIME Throughout Lent our traditional worship service will begin at 11:15am. All other times will remain the same. This trial is in order to help our Sunday school classes have more time for learning, our parents to have more time to transport children from class to worship, our choir members to have more time for Sunday school, and everyone to have more time to fellowship prior to the traditional worship. This trial run will begin Sun., Feb. 17 at 11:15am! CLEAN HANDS: They say, “cleanliness is next to Godliness!” During this season of germ spreading we want to invite you to keep clean hands so that our greeting time in worship can be both hospitable and healthy! We have installed hand sanitizer dispensers on the exterior of the main sanctuary doors on either side as you enter from the foyer. We invite you to enter church by sanitizing your hands. If you can’t find the dispenser, ask an usher. Thanks for your hospitality and health! HOLY LAND TRIP 2013 Our church is taking a trip to the Holy Land this fall. There is still time for YOU to join the trip. The dates of the trip are October 5-13, 2013. The cost of the trip, fully inclusive, will be approximately $3000/person. A land only option is available (you secure your own flight). We will visit much of the Holy Land and places that Jesus walked. If you would like to go or want more information, contact Rev. PRESCHOOL/CHILDREN’S MINISTRY SPAGHETTI DINNER Feb 23rd, 6-8pm. Tickets go on sale Sun, Feb. 3rd, adults $8, kids under 12 $3, and family packs $20 (2 adults and kids.) We also NEED donations of auction items and bake sale goodies! INFERTILITY / ADOPTION GROUP Mon., Feb. 4, 6:30-8pm. If you are going through infertility and/or adoption and would like a safe, supportive place to talk and get insight from others, this group is for you! NEW WORSHIP SERIES Feb. 3 & 10 our worship series will be, Operation Serving from the Heart, where we will discover how God has gifted us for ministry and how God sends us into ministry. If you have been trying to discern what God wants you to be doing and how to do it—this series is for you! Be sure to invite a friend to join the operation! ASH WEDNESDAY We will begin Lent on Wed., Feb. 13 with a Taize worship experience at 7pm. Come experience prayer, song, scripture, light, and ashes as we begin a holy Lent. The Justice Journey begins now! ~Snack Sacks assembly Sun., Feb. 10, 3-4pm in Fellowship Hall. IT’S TAMALE TIME AGAIN! Walk to Emmaus Spiritual Retreat The Walk to Emmaus is a 72 hour spiritual renewal retreat designed to strengthen our Christian faith and discipleship. The Walks are held at the Briarwood Retreat Center outside of Argyle. For more information, sonya@fumctc.com. Upcoming Dates: Men's Walks - Feb. 21-24 and Sept. 19-22. Women's Walks - April 18-21 and Oct. 10-13. Happy Ground Hog Day! January seemed to go by so very quick and I’m wondering where it went. Well, the youth certainly had a great month! The highlight was the Mid-Winter retreat at Bridgeport Conference Center. The youth had the pleasure of hearing from Rev. Baughman who helped lead the youth in the importance of putting their faith in action! The youth also got to see firsthand other youth leading the whole event and the small groups. It was an amazing time of fellowship and worship and the youth left with a better understanding of what Christ is calling all of us to do. My favorite take away from Rev. Baughman was that the opposite of love is indifference, and as Christians we need to strive towards love, not indifference! February will be the start of another Bible study for both Sr. and Jr. High youth. Sr. High will be doing a study on Sticky Faith, how to keep their faith after high school. Jr. High will study the top 13 questions youth have about God! These studies will be Wednesdays from 7-8:30pm! I am excited to once again discover with the youth their relationship with Christ and how we all can share that relationship with the world!!
