II. APPLICATION OF RATES<br />

LOCAL EXCHANGE SERVICE<br />

A. General<br />

T<br />

1. The rates and charges listed in this section apply to the<br />

T<br />

<strong>local</strong> exchange service provided by the Cooperative in its<br />

service area which is specified by the Cooperative’s<br />

exchange service area maps, approved and on file with the<br />

Public Utility Commission of Texas.<br />

The tele<strong>com</strong>munications services described in this section<br />

are subject to the other rates, charges, rules and<br />

regulations of the Local Exchange Tariff in its current<br />

form or as it may be revised in the future.<br />

2. The <strong>local</strong> exchange service rates and charges specified in T<br />

this section are for basic <strong>local</strong> exchange service and<br />

facilities only. The rates for other ancillary services or<br />

facilities not specifically shown in this section are<br />

presented in other sections of this tariff.<br />

3. Unless otherwise specified, the rates and charges quoted T<br />

in this section are for a minimum period of one month,<br />

payable in advance and provide unlimited flat rate calling<br />

within the exchange area.<br />

4. Local access trunks are required for <strong>local</strong> access T<br />

connections terminating in, or for use with, customerprovided<br />

premises equipment with switching (Private Branch<br />

Exchange or PBX). For applicable trunk charges, see the<br />

PBX Trunk rates as shown in Part III, Page 5 of this<br />

Section.<br />

5. Party line service will be furnished to applicants only<br />

T<br />

where facilities necessitate this type of service. The<br />

Cooperative may deem it necessary to connect business and<br />

residence access lines to the same party line service.<br />

6. Downgrading of <strong>telephone</strong> service, when necessary to T M<br />

provide service to a new applicant, will be on a temporary<br />

basis only. The initial grade of service will be restored<br />

as soon as facilities be<strong>com</strong>e available. Affected customers<br />

will be notified before downgrading occurs.
