Terms & Conditions<br />

The Company<br />

Refers to the <strong>Champneys</strong> Resort <strong>Club</strong>.<br />

1. Objectives<br />

The objectives of the club are:<br />

a) to provide and make available to members of the club, and their bonafide guest,<br />

health and fitness facilities, and to promote and encourage a greater degree of<br />

physical well-being. While resident in the <strong>Club</strong>, guests are deemed to be Members<br />

of the <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Club</strong> and are referred to as such hereafter.<br />

b) to provide a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere throughout the <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Club</strong>.<br />

c) to provide and maintain the premises and employ staff in order to facilitate the<br />

attainment of the above objectives.<br />

2. Election<br />

When an applicant for membership is elected a Member, and has paid the relevant<br />

subscription, he or she shall be a Member of the <strong>Club</strong> and entitled to all the privileges<br />

of <strong>Membership</strong> and shall be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules. Any<br />

application for membership or renewal of membership, shall be determined by the<br />

<strong>Health</strong> <strong>Club</strong> Committee whose decision shall be final and binding. Absolute discretion<br />

is granted to the Committee to reject any applicant for membership without submitting<br />

any reason for so doing; in this event any subscription monies received will be<br />

immediately returned.<br />

3. <strong>Membership</strong> Cards<br />

An elected Member shall be given a membership card and must register and present<br />

valid membership card on entering the <strong>Club</strong>. Failure to do so could result in<br />

termination of membership. If on occasion the card is forgotten, the Member will be<br />

asked to complete a temporary Pass Card. If a Member should lose his/her<br />

<strong>Membership</strong> card, this loss should be reported to the <strong>Club</strong> immediately it is<br />

discovered and a replacement will be issued at a cost of £5.00.<br />

4. “Signing in” and Guests<br />

Each member may bring up to TWO guests per visit by prior arrangement with the<br />

<strong>Club</strong> Administrator or Fitness Department. A guest fee of £15.00pp is payable for<br />

standard membership guests and a £30.00pp is payable for premier membership<br />

guests. All members' guests must sign in / sign out at the resorts Fitness Reception<br />

on arrival/departure and any member failing to register a guest in the correct manner<br />

will have their membership terminated immediately.<br />

Members may not leave the <strong>Club</strong> before their guests and are responsible for their<br />

good conduct and safety whilst on the <strong>Club</strong> premises. No member should introduce a<br />

Guest who has been rejected as a Member or has had his/her membership revoked.<br />

All guests must be accompanied by a Member on entering the <strong>Club</strong> and register at<br />

Reception before entering the changing facilities.<br />

5. Children<br />

Children under the age of eighteen years may not become a Member or accompany<br />

Members as guests.<br />

6. Admissions and Conduct<br />

The Company reserves the right of admission to the <strong>Club</strong> and may expel any Member<br />

(or guest) who’s conduct is such as shall in its opinion be injurious to the character of<br />

the <strong>Club</strong> or the interest of its Members.<br />

The Company in its absolute discretion and without ascribing any reasons therefore<br />

may terminate the <strong>Membership</strong> of any member refunding that unexpired portion of<br />

their current subscription. In the event of a serious or repeated breach of the <strong>Club</strong><br />

rules no refund will be made.<br />

The Company may refuse to renew the membership of any member without giving<br />

any reason thereafter.<br />

Swimming pool and surrounding area: To ensure that the swimming pool and<br />

surrounding area are kept peaceful and quiet, there shall be no jumping, diving, or<br />

splashing in the pool.<br />

7. Liability<br />

The Company shall not be responsible or liable for any loss or damage to property<br />

whatsoever or howsoever caused. The Company shall not be responsible or liable for<br />

any personal injury death or illness of any member or guest arising out of or sustained<br />

as a result of the misuse of any equipment/and or facilities of the <strong>Club</strong>. Members are<br />

advised to undergo a medical examination prior to joining the <strong>Club</strong>. The Company will<br />

not be responsible for the death, injury and/or mental impairment of any<br />

Members/Guests caused and/or aggravated by any prior injury or illness of the<br />

nominee whether known or unknown through the use of facilities.<br />

8. Saftey and Hygiene<br />

For reasons of hygiene and safety of all, Members and their Guests shall:<br />

a) Not drink alcohol before exercising<br />

b) Receive instruction on use of the Gymnasium equipment (Members may<br />

supervise their guests)<br />

c) Shower before and after using the swimming pool, spa pool, Sauna, Laconium<br />

and Steam Room<br />

d) Consume food and drink only in the spa cafe, terrace and <strong>Mere</strong> restaurants<br />

e) Not dry their clothing or towels in the sauna<br />

f) Not use hair conditioner in the swimming pool or membership will be terminated<br />

immediately.<br />

g) Eye Protection must be worn whilst using the sun towers<br />

h) No smoking in any area of the resort apart from the designated smoking area.<br />

i) Not allow children under 18 to use any of the facilities<br />

j) Please take all personal belongings from lockers when leaving the <strong>Club</strong>.<br />

k) Those with diabetes, heart problems, high/low blood pressure or who are on<br />

strong prescriptions or have any form of indication of a medical condition, should<br />

consult their Doctor before exercising and using the Spa Pool, Sauna and Steam<br />

Room and participating in activities in the gym and on the fitness schedule.<br />

9. Spa Café<br />

Sports bags must not be taken into this area. Smart casual wear only permitted in<br />

these areas.<br />

10. Dress<br />

Correct exercise attire must be worn at all times whilst exercising.<br />

If outdoor shoes must be worn around the swimming pool area please wear the<br />

protective shoe covers which are provided. No black soled shoes are permitted in the<br />

studios. Correct tennis attire and shoes shall be worn on the tennis court.<br />

11. Opening Hours<br />

Saturday & Sunday 6.30am – 9.30am 5.30pm – 9.30pm<br />

Premier & County Wide <strong>Membership</strong>s<br />

Saturday & Sunday<br />

6.30am – 9.30pm<br />

Standard Plus <strong>Membership</strong><br />

Monday – Friday 6.30am – 10.00am 6.00pm – 10.00pm<br />

Saturday & Sunday<br />

6.30am – 9.30pm<br />

The Company reserves the right to vary these times without prior notice.<br />

Members must have left the premises by the <strong>Club</strong> hours stated. The Company also<br />

reserves the right to amend/alter any class agreement as they wish.<br />

Individual Treatment and Therapy:<br />

Due to popular demand, appointments need to be made 2 weeks in advance.<br />

Pre-booked treatments require 24 hour cancellation notice otherwise full tariff rate will<br />

be charged.<br />

12. Cancellation and Suspension of membership<br />

<strong>Membership</strong> is non-transferable and non-refundable. All requests and cancellations<br />

pertaining to <strong>Membership</strong> should be put in writing and addressed to the <strong>Club</strong><br />

Accounts Administrator where all cases will be considered at managements<br />

discretion. The subscription for classes of <strong>Membership</strong> shall be such the sum as The<br />

Company may from time to time determine.<br />

13. <strong>Club</strong> Account<br />

Members may charge any purchases within the resort to their <strong>Club</strong> Account.<br />

A statement of your account will be sent out each month and payment is due by<br />

return. Alternatively, resort purchases may be settled with cash or credit/debit card as<br />

and when they are made. Members will also be responsible for all payments relating to<br />

their guests. The company reserves the right to alter membership fees,giving the<br />

members no less than 30 days notice prior to such increase.<br />

14. Notice<br />

The company at its discretion may vary these rules from time to time and members<br />

will be informed accordingly.<br />

15. Disputes<br />

In the event of any dispute arising out of the interpretation of these rules the decision<br />

of the Company shall be final.<br />

16. Discount<br />

Members will receive a 20% discount on any day or stay at <strong>Champneys</strong> Springs -<br />

Leicestershire, <strong>Champneys</strong> Henlow - Bedfordshire, <strong>Champneys</strong> <strong>Forest</strong> <strong>Mere</strong> -<br />

Hampshire or <strong>Champneys</strong> Tring - Hertfordshire. Members will also receive a 10%<br />

discount on any treatments at the Resort <strong>Club</strong> they have joined. These discounts can<br />

only be applied to full tariff rate.
