1. Synopsis:<br />

Understanding <strong>the</strong> nature of human development <strong>across</strong> <strong>the</strong> lifespan is essential to professionals<br />

concerned with enhancing <strong>the</strong> life quality of individuals as <strong>the</strong>y grow from infancy to maturity.<br />

This course is intended to help students explore <strong>the</strong> physical, emotional, cognitive and social<br />

development of men and women from infancy to adulthood through various <strong>the</strong>ories and<br />

methodologies. Attention will be given to <strong>the</strong> appropriate application of developmental <strong>the</strong>ories<br />

and research findings within <strong>the</strong> Hong Kong context.<br />

developmental progress in different domains.<br />

Analyze intra-individual and contextual factors affecting human development<br />

in different developmental stages.<br />

Explain and critically reflect on developmental, educational and social issues in<br />

light of developmental <strong>the</strong>ories and concepts.<br />

Demonstrate an understanding of key methodologies in studying human<br />

development and be able to adapt and apply appropriate data collection designs<br />

and techniques to systematically collect data.<br />
