Foreword by Craigavon DPP Chairman
One of the statutory responsibilities of Fermanagh District Policing As
outgoing Chairman of Craigavon District Policing Partnership, I am
delighted to contribute to the Local Policing Plan for 2009/10
The plan has been drawn up by the Area Commander in consultation with
the public and members of the District Policing Partnership. I would like to
express my acknowledgement to those members of the public who have
attended our meetings and participated in this consultation process. This
work has been especially instrumental in guiding the DPP on what policing
issues are important for different sections of the community and has been
used to guide the development of the local policing plan.
The DPP will now monitor the local police against the targets included in
the plan in line with their statutory roles and responsibilities.
I am very pleased with the increasing level of public interest in the work of
the DPP and we will endeavour to continue to build effective relationships
with the PSNI and the wider public to address crime in Craigavon.
Foreword by Craigavon Area Commander
The Craigavon Policing Plan for 2009-2010 will provide policing with an
essential focus on the issues that affect the lives of our communities. It has
been compiled following a wide ranging community consultation and I am
grateful to those who contributed to this process.
The targets are challenging, but I am confident that tackling these issues
will have a very positive impact on those who live, work and socialise in
Craigavon. But policing alone cannot achieve this, and we remain
committed to working with our communities, statutory partners and the
voluntary sector to provide long-term solutions to the problems identified.
My officers, including the newly established Neighbourhood Policing
teams have already had a positive impact on crime and anti-social
behaviour. In the forthcoming year, we will continue to enhance our
policing style to enable us to provide a quality service.
