From The President’s Perch:
It is hard to believe we are nearing the end of second
quarter! And, like our students, the Mothers’ Club has
also been very busy this past autumn! We began the
year with our Fall Social on September 6 th . It was a
lot of fun and very well attended! Thank you to
everyone who came to this event and took the time to
volunteer for the Mothers’ Club’s many activities. On
Wednesday, September 28 th , the Fall Festival may
have been a rainy evening, but inside the “fun” was
shining! Games and treats made for a successful
event! Please take a minute to read the reports from
our committees and you will appreciate the countless
hours of service that these mothers donate to Bishop
Watterson School. I would especially like to extend
my gratitude to the following committee chairs for all
Fundraising:
The Fundraising Committee has already been hard at work this fall seeking
and finding opportunities to benefit the Mothers’ Club treasury.
We would first like to thank everyone who took advantage of our own personal
Kings Island ticket website designed especially for Bishop Watterson!
Amusement park tickets were purchased from our site and Mothers’
Club received a commission! It was very easy to use and customers were
able to print e-tickets to use the same day if needed! This was an ongoing
fundraiser during the entire season that required little effort!
Thank you!
Polaris Fashion Place makes a concerted effort to give fundraising opportunities
to schools and we are taking advantage! From August 8 th to October 1 st , points could be earned by a school for purchases
made at the mall’s retail stores and restaurants. The Earning for Learning promotion awarded prize money to the schools that redeemed
their receipts at the Guest Reception Desk for the highest totals. Dollars spent were converted to points and bonus opportunities
offered additional credits. The Mothers’ Club received $500 for our efforts.
The Magical Night of Giving was held at Polaris Fashion Place on Sunday, November 13 th and offered a fundraising opportunity for
Mothers’ Club as well. Tickets were $5 each to enter the mall during special shopping hours. From 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., exclusive
sales and discounts were offered to these special ticketholders. In addition, the tickets offered a registration form for numerous prizes
that were awarded during evening. It was a great opportunity to kick-off your holiday shopping and Mothers’ Club received 100% of
the proceeds!
On Saturday, October 8 th , many families enjoyed our restaurant fundraiser at Graffiti Burger. Bishop Watterson supporters who presented
a flyer at the Clintonville or Dublin locations gave Mothers’ Club the opportunity to earn 15% of their purchase. This was strategically
scheduled to coincide with a home football game at Hagely Field since Graffiti Burger in Clintonville is right down the street!
Many fans celebrated the victory and supported the Eagles in more ways than one! Stop in some time and enjoy their unique burgers
while looking at the great Watterson Eagle graffiti (Clintonville location)!
Back by Popular Demand! - Eagle Collection Jewelry was so well-received in its inaugural year that it is back with new additions!
Look for a new order form on the school website, www.bishopwatterson.com after the beginning of the year. Original styles and new
designs are available!
Please watch for more upcoming fundraising events and feel free to contact us with your great ideas!
Beautification:
We hope you have enjoyed the beautiful colors of the changing leaves, the cool
evenings, pumpkins, and all that reminds us that God’s special harvest season
is upon us.
The Beautification Committee strives to keep the areas surrounding BWHS
beautiful for all of our students, staff, and guests. Yellow and burgundy mums
were added to the urns that adorn the main entrance to the school. In addition
40 mums that were donated from Monsignor Grimes’ funeral were added to the
beds, urns, and landscape surrounding the school. The entrance to the new addition was beautifully decorated for
our Eagle Auction. Corn stalks, mums, and pumpkins were added to the urns to provide a warm Autumn welcome
to all of our guests.
The Beautification Committee and our many volunteers met at BWHS on Saturday, October 29 th for “Fall Clean-Up”.
At this time all of the urns and the beds surrounding the entrances to the school were cleaned up and mums
were planted. We would like to thank the following mothers who have graciously volunteered their time to help
us beautify Watterson this fall: Theresa Canute, Diana Carilli, Carolyn Delp, Shelly Diodore, Sandy Eberts,
Elizabeth Morrison, Ann Ralston, Leslie Schaab, Kathy Sroka, Kathy Taylor, Leslie Wiley, and Janet Wilki.
Your help is very much appreciated. We also decorated the urns for the holiday season and will be planting
this spring. If you would like to help but did not have the opportunity to sign up at our Fall Social, please send
an email to TerriKernan@gmail.com and we will get you on the list!
Staff Appreciation:
We hope the wonderful staff members at BWHS have had a great start back to school! We started the year off with treats and goodies
for the staff at their August meetings. In September, Sister Mary Hope won a basket of mums and $50 Lowes gift card. She was very
appreciative and the drawing was on her birthday for an extra special surprise! Thank you to Connie Brewer, Leslie Fresco, Nicole Toscano,
Suzanne Bowen, Nancy McEwan, Carol Clinton and Amy Malone for contributing to the gift. October's staff appreciation basket
included many "treats" for the lucky recipient. Mr. George Gornall. Autumn goodies galore along with coffees and hot cider filled a large
leaf shaped serving bowl. A special thanks to those who donated to this effort; Leslie Fresco, Christine Hucek, Veronica Seguin, Michele
Elmo, Sharon Saia, and Lisa Smith.
In November, our bread baking volunteers were busy baking for the November 22 nd and 23rd Staff Appreciation baskets. Each faculty
and staff member received a mini loaf of Thanksgiving bread and in December a gift card from Panera’s.
Look forward to hearing about more giveaways and prizes as we try to show all of the staff how much we appreciate their hard work and
effort. Our students are blessed to have such caring, dedicated individuals helping them learn, develop and grow.

Fall Social:
Thank you to all who came and made this year's Mothers' Club FALL SOCIAL a
great success. This year's social was on September 6th in Dominican Hall.
Guests were treated to a cooking demonstration by our very own Sue Preston of Preston Catering.
Sue is also a Watterson graduate and mom. She featured recipes from the NEW Watterson
Cookbook.
A big thank you to all the volunteers who signed up for the many Mothers’ Club events as these
programs could not happen without you!
AND...Watterson cookbooks and aprons still for sale! $15 book, $20 apron. (Great Christmas gifts) Just contact your parish representative.
Fall Festival:
The Fall Festival was held on September 28,
and fun was had by all who attended. The
Mothers’ Club had games – pop bottle toss,
putt-putt, and a “cookie walk”. It was a fun
evening to see the students and their siblings
enjoy the games. It was also fun to see friends and meet new
ones. A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered at the Mothers’
Club games, and to everyone who donated pop, candy and
cookies!
