Procedures
A
s a public body, the Rotunda Hospital
must comply with prescribed
procedures in relation to the
procurement of goods and services.
Procurement incorporates all activities from
requisition and approval to purchase, receipt
and distribution of goods, commissioning and
training, through to payment of suppliers.
The purchasing of supplies is governed by
the following core values:
• Achieving best value for money
• Patient and customer focus
• Dealing with quality suppliers and
contractors
• Operating in a fair, open, transparent
and non-discriminatory manner
• Complying with all relevant European
and national legislation and government
guidelines
• Operating to the highest ethical standard
The Procurement Committee was established
to ensure compliance with the values outlined
above and also that purchases conform to the
hospital’s standards in relation to hygiene,
infection prevention and control and health
and safety. The multidisciplinary committee
meets on a regular basis to review and
assess any new products or services being
considered for introduction by the Hospital.
The requester must submit an evaluation
form for review by the relevant committee
members prior to approval. Urgent requests
should be discussed with the Materials
Manager who will advise on the procedure
to fast track the approval process.
To maximise economies of scale the
Rotunda is a member of the Hospital
Procurement Services Group who tender
on behalf of a group of voluntary hospitals.
We also avail of HSE tendered prices
where appropriate.

The Private Clinic
T
he Rotunda Private Clinics have
recently undergone some cosmetic
changes. These changes help to
reflect the new marketing position the Private
Clinics are undergoing. The Private Clinics
have begun an extensive advertising campaign
with GP’s and in local news and magazines.
The purpose is to highlight the excellent
facilities and care that women will receive
if they choose to go semi-private or private.
A new package was recently introduced
called Semi-Private Consultant Led care.
This package allows a mum to see a
consultant on every visit yet avail of semiprivate
care at the birth & for accommodation
after the birth. This new package has proved
to be a success and there is a waiting list of
patients wishing to avail of this option.
