Fundamentals of Reliability
Engineering – Part 1
Presented by: Bob Mehta
Recently there have been
heightened concerns due to
product reliability.
Organizations are spending
significant resources due to the
failure of units during a
warranty period. It is due to a lack of understanding of
fundamental reliability engineering concepts. This two-session
clinic will provide an overview of reliability engineering. The
presentation will outline:
• Reliability principles
• Bathtub curves for modes of failure
• Mean Time to Failure (MTTF) and Mean Time Between
Failure (MTBF)
• Use of the design tools necessary to ensure a reliable product
including prediction, allocation, and FMEA.
5:45 pm Clinic # 2, Mark Lindsay presents World Cafe -
Affinity Diagram - Performance Issues - Part 1 of 2 . He
who has the best supply chain/base has a competitive
advantage. This presentation will cover how to that they are
trying to resolve. Each Group will have its own unique colors
of post-it-notes to represent their industry
• Participants will organize the issues into natural groupings
and create Summary Header Cards.
• The individual Groups Summary Header Cards will be
placed on a Master Affinity Diagram and Master Summary
Header Cards will be created.
• Will share and discuss what the Participants have created.
What are the general common issues across industries What
is unique
• Pictures will be taken of the Affinity Diagrams and made
available to the Participants.
At 7:30 pm, the dinner presentation will be The Power
Resilience and You Presented by Dr. Frumi Rachel
Barr, MBA, BC What makes some people, who are
knocked down, jump up, dust themselves off and keep on
going The key to achieving your dreams, no matter what
adversity shows up, is the Power of Resilience. Join us to
learn some tools to bolster YOUR resilience and an
interactive exploration.
Are You Getting All of the Benefits from your ISO 9000 or
AS9100 Quality Management System If not, Why Not
Find Out How to Improve Your Continual Improvement
Process.
Presented by: Mr. Kim Victorine, Senior Consultant/
Business Advisor for California Manufacturing Technology
Consulting (CMTC)
Many organizations do not maximize the benefits they could achieve form the implementation
and sustainment of a Quality Management System (QMS). As a consultant, I am shocked on the
low level of the Return on Investment (ROI) that many organizations accept from their QMS. In
working with over 150 organizations since 1998, I have found a few areas that seem to be the
primary cause of this problem.
The agenda for the presentation is:
• What Are the 5 Key Components of an Effective QMS
• What is the Difference between QMS Compliance, Effectiveness and Efficiency
• How Should You Measure Your Organizations Continual Improvement Performance
• What Are the Typical Challenges for an Organization that Impact the Continual
Improvement Journey
• What Can Your Organization do to Improve their Continual Improvement Performance
• Who is CMTC
• How Do We Assist our Clients in Maximizing the ROI on their QMS
• CMTC Performance Report
• Q&A
Presenter: Kim Victorine, Senior Consultant/Business Advisor
Kim Victorine has over 15 years experience in developing, implementing, managing and
improving management systems using continual improvement systems and methods like ISO
9000, AS9100, Total Quality Management and Lean Manufacturing. He started his career in
Production Test & Test Engineering with Hughes Aircraft Company – Ground Systems Group in
Fullerton, CA. He has worked with over 150 Southern California manufacturing organizations as
a Consultant with CMTC since 1998. He has held certifications as a Lead Auditor for Quality
Management Systems (ISO 9000) and as an Aerospace Auditor (AS9100) from RAB/QSA.
Presently he is working with clients developing strategies for growth, identifying opportunities to
develop new products or services thru the use of innovation engineering methods, the continual
improvement of management systems and operations using ISO 9000 based standards and lean
manufacturing methods. He is a certified trainer/facilitator by Zenger-Miller and Achieve Global.
He is currently pursuing a Black Belt in Innovation Engineering.
