1:OBJECTIVES
The scope of the audit was to identify efficiencies currently affecting the operation of
the irrigation system. The following areas were focused on in assessing irrigation
Water Use Efficiency (WUE):
• Assessment of Distribution uniformity (DU) this identifies the evenness of
water application over the targeted irrigation area
• Assessment of current water precipitation rates and field infiltration rates
• Identification of system constraints to WUE (Water use efficiency)
• Assessment of current irrigation practices used on site
• Assessment of system pressures
• Identified areas where water is being misused due to incorrect management
of existing equipment.
• Identify mechanical issues effecting the irrigation system operation and price
to rectify these issues
• Develop a site specific irrigation schedule
This audit was undertaken to provide the following for Brookvale Oval:
• Clearer picture on all the above criteria
• Recommendations and action plans providing strategies, schedules and
processes resulting in a more efficient water management and lower water
costs
• Ensure best practice water use guide lines are met
