Side effects
Tell your doctor or pharmacist as
soon as possible if you do not feel
well while you are taking Genox.
Like all other medicines, Genox may
have unwanted side effects in some
people. Sometimes they are serious,
most of the time they are not. You
may need medical treatment if you
get some of the side effects.
Do not be alarmed by this list of
possible side effects.
You may not experience any of them.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist to
answer any questions you may
have.
Tell your doctor if you notice any
of the following and they worry
you:
* hot flushes
* nausea, vomiting, stomach upset
* mild skin rash, itching
* headache
* dizziness or lightheadedness
* hair loss or thinning
* swelling in your hands, feet or
ankles
* itching around the vagina or
genitals.
Tell your doctor immediately if
you notice any of the following:
* problems with your eyesight
* unusual vaginal bleeding or
discharge
* changes in your menstrual
periods
* pain in the bones or at the site of
your cancer
* yellowing of the skin and eyes
* dark coloured urine.
Tell your doctor immediately or go
to Accident and Emergency at the
nearest hospital if you notice any
of the following:
* sharp, stabbing pain or swelling
in the groin, chest or leg
* coughing up blood, sudden
shortness of breath
* loss of appetite, thirst, nausea,
vomiting, constipation and
stomach pain, sometimes together
with confusion and muscle
weakness due to high calcium
levels in the blood
* severe upper stomach pain with
nausea and vomiting
* signs of frequent infections such
as fever, chills, sore throat or
mouth ulcers
* bleeding or bruising more easily
than normal
* severe blisters, or bleeding in the
lips, eyes, nose, mouth or genitals
* swelling of the face, lips, tongue
or other parts of the body,
shortness of breath, wheezing or
trouble breathing.
Other side effects not listed above
may also occur in some patients.
Tell your doctor if you notice
anything that is making you feel
unwell.
Some changes in the body may arise
from the breast cancer itself, rather
than the treatment. For this reason,
contact your doctor immediately if
you notice any of the following:
* unusual vaginal bleeding or
discharge
* pain or reddening around the
tumour
* bone pain
* loss of appetite, thirst, nausea,
vomiting, constipation and
stomach pain, sometimes together
with confusion and muscle
weakness due to high calcium
levels in the blood.
After taking Genox
Storage
Keep Genox where children cannot
reach it.
A locked cupboard at least
one-and-a-half metres above the
ground is a good place to store
medicines.
Keep your tablets in the pack until
it is time to take them.
If you take the tablets out of the pack
they may not keep well.
Keep the tablets away from light.
Keep your tablets in a cool dry
place where the temperature stays
below 30 degrees C.
Do not store Genox or any other
medicine in the bathroom or near a
sink.
Do not leave Genox in the car or on
window sills.
Heat and dampness can destroy some
medicines.
Disposal
If your doctor tells you to stop
taking Genox, or your tablets have
passed their expiry date, ask your
pharmacist what to do with any
that are left over.

What it looks like
Genox comes in 2 strengths of
tablets:
* Genox 10 - round, white tablet
marked TN over 10 on one side
and G on the reverse
* Genox 20 - round, white, scored
tablet marked TN over 20 on one
side and G on the reverse.
Each pack contains 60 tablets.
Ingredients
The active ingredient in Genox is
tamoxifen (as tamoxifen citrate):
* each Genox 10 tablet contains
10mg of tamoxifen
* each Genox 20 tablet contains
20mg of tamoxifen.
The tablets also contain:
* mannitol
* maize starch
* croscarmellose sodium
* magnesium stearate.
The tablets are gluten free.
