Relative Abrasion Rates of Acrylic Denture Teeth. D.L. Cipra,
E. Papazoglou, R.R. Seghi
No single dental material is universally accepted as the best for artificial denture
teeth. The wear resistance of porcelain assists in providing longevity of a prosthesis
while the adjustability of synthetic resin provides for application to a
wider variety of clinical situations. Many manufacturers have attempted to
blend the two attributes through increasing the wear resistance of acrylic resin
teeth. The purpose of this study was to assess the relative abrasion rates of five
acrylic resin denture teeth: Bioblend and Bioform (IPN) (Dentsply), Justi Blend
(JB), Imperial (IP), and Viform (VF) (American Tooth Industries). A continuous
flush pin-on disk was used with the various materials acting as the pin and
abrading against a 30pm diamond disk. The pin length was digitally recorded
at one second intervals over the entire test period and the number of revolutions
recorded. The means (pm/rev) and standard deviations for the wear rate were:
JB, IP and VF = 1.368 (0.052), IPN = 1.323 (1.031). One-way ANOVA and
Trukey multiple comparison tests were used for analysis of the data (0.05). End
results showed no significant difference in wear. All wore essentially the same.
Dear Mr. Pozzi:
Thank you for asking my company to independently evaluate your posterior
product line. As you know, I do work with every manufacturers’ products in the
U.S. When we instruct in an individual laboratory, we always use the teeth in
their inventory.
I’ve instructed and used your teeth extensively. Of all products, I have found
yours to be the highest quality available. When we look at product evaluation
we first examine the following: cross-linked; wear resistant; solvent resistant; fluorescent.
You meet every requirement at the “top”.
One big problem that we find throughout the US and Canada is a nagging issue
of bonding. In my opinion, this is one of the key considerations for using a
product. We tried every method to test this with your Justi Blend posterior, Justi
Imperial, Justi Triplex MSLV posteriors and Dymon-Hue HPT. I am happy to
say they all came out at the top of the class. We attempted every way we could
think of to break the bond. Your product proved superior in every way.
As you know, our company has been teaching lingualized and linear occlusion
for over ten years. We articulated every posterior combination to test the integrity
of fit for lingualized occlusion. We matched the following: 30/30; 10/10; 10/
0(block); 0(block)/0(block). All of the above met with flying colors. Your Levin
Lingual Bladed teeth, in my opinion, are of the finest quality and integrity that I
have ever tested.
To sum up my evaluation, Mr. Pozzi, I have never tested a line of teeth that
exceeds yours. Congratulations! You should feel really proud.
The foundation of my laboratory is based on quality: quality professional
skills and quality materials. My laboratory is dedicated to producing the
very best prosthetic appliances. With these ideals and goals, we select products
from American Tooth Industries because they meet our standards.
For example, Justi Pakto is 100% non-porous which assures vital color
endurance, constant contour security, and eliminates bacterium invasion.
Justi Blend and Justi Imperial teeth are manufactured with strict quality
control. They surpass the requirements for certification by the American
Dental Association. Combined, these products are advised for the adaptation
of overdentures on all brands of implants, especially when united with
Hader Bars.
Additionally, Justi Denture Base process in the Justi Miracleflask cured with
the microwave irradiation eliminates residual monomer which can cause
tissue irritation and allergic reactions in the patient. The complete cure
avoids internal stress and thus guarantees structural stability.
In more than 1500 cases no failures have been attributed to Justi Products.
Justi Products are generic and I recommend them to dentists, prosthodontists
and laboratories universally.
Sincerely,
