We welcome you wholeheartedly . Your presence here indicates your willingness to entrust your development into our expert and capable hands and indeed to acquire the best education that can be found in this region; our commitment, as we stand here with you today and as you prepare to embark on a life-transforming journey, is that we will be there with you throughout including a few years hence to celebrate your achievements. I applaud you for your excellent decision to invest in the quality of your life for the future. Mona School of Business is a unit of the University of the West Indies and provides exceptional education here in Jamaica. We see our role as both addressing the current needs of students for certification and being active participants in nation building by ensuring that our graduates possess the competence and commitment to make a positive difference. MSB has long been a major provider of quality business education as evidenced by our growing list of approximately 2000 distinguished and highly successful alumni who are a major strength of the School, providing sources of current business knowledge for each new generation of students and tremendous opportunities for networking. In recognition of the increasing complexities of the domestic, regional and international business community and the resultant changing needs of the student populace, the MSB determined that a deeper symbiotic relationship with its students is a prerequisite to its success. In addition to appointing a student representative to the Board of Directors of the school, the MSB after consultations with the then student body, encouraged the formation of the MSB Student Association (SA). The association was officially inaugurated in September 2009. The Executive of the SA are grateful for the opportunity provided by the Mona School’s Business newsletter to update all the stakeholders of the happenings in SA since its inauguration. The SA has been established and recognized by the MSB as the student government body that represents the interest of the all registered members (DBA, EMBA, MBA, MSc., MBM, Dip., etc) of programmes offered by the MSB.
