The trainee will be able to:
1. understand the social and governmental aspects of health care
provision.
2. offer professional services while keeping the cost effectiveness of
individual forms of care in mind.
3. apply an understanding of hospital and community-based
resources available for patients and care givers in rural areas.
4. demonstrate an understanding of health service management
and health economics in rural areas.
5. understand the use of 'telemedicine' in practicing health.
CLINICAL COMPETENCIES
The clinical competencies, a specialist must have, are varied and
complex. A list of the core procedural competencies including those
required during training in the Department of Obstetrics and
Gynaecology and the departments during rotations is given below.
The level of competencies to be achieved each year is specified
according to the key, as follows:

LEVELS OF COMPETENCE
Level 1 Observes Observes the clinical activity
performed by a Colleague
Level 2 Assists Assists a colleague perform the
clinical activity
Level 3 Direct Supervision Performs the entire activity under
direct supervision of a senior
Level 4 Indirect Supervision Performs the entire activity with
indirect supervision of a senior
Level 5 Independent Performs the entire activity without
need of supervision
Note: Levels 4 and 5 for practical purposes are almost synonymous
