<strong>COMPETITION</strong> <strong>GUIDELINES</strong> & <strong>RULES</strong><br />
A. CONTENT:<br />
a. Contestants are encouraged to be as creative as possible for their “Letters from Camp” video.<br />
Video must be 90 seconds or less. Campers can perform a skit, song, dance, musical number,<br />
poem, speech or any other form of creative expression that will help them best deliver their<br />
“Letters from Camp.” Some ideas for topics include but are not limited to:<br />
• What makes <strong>Maine</strong> such a great place to go to camp<br />
• What’s your favorite thing about camp in <strong>Maine</strong><br />
• Will you come back next summer and why<br />
• What’s your best memory from camp in <strong>Maine</strong><br />
• What’s the coolest animal you’ve seen at camp in <strong>Maine</strong><br />
• What’s the most awesome thing you’ve done at camp in <strong>Maine</strong><br />
Please do not mention actual camp names in the video or appear in camp uniforms.<br />
b. By participating in the competition, you agree not to submit, upload, or post any video that<br />
includes any material that:<br />
• Libels, defames, invades privacy, or is abusive, profane, or threatening;<br />
• Infringes on any intellectual property or other right of any person or entity;<br />
• Falsifies or deletes author attributions, legal notices, or other proprietary<br />
designations;<br />
• Violates any law;<br />
• Advocates illegal activity; and,<br />
• Knowingly contains viruses, corrupted files, or other materials that may cause<br />
damage to any computer system.<br />
B. FILMING PEOPLE:<br />
a. Filming of any person under the age of eighteen (18) is prohibited unless the contestant<br />
has obtained written consent (Attachment A) from the parent or guardian of said person.<br />
A consent form is needed for each person appearing in the video.<br />
b. Please note that the Title of Video and the Contestant’s Name must match the submitted<br />
video entry posted on YouTube.<br />
c. The consent form can be found at the end of this document as Attachment A.<br />

d. Video clips are not officially entered into the contest until both the consent and entry<br />
forms have been received by Burgess Advertising & Marketing.<br />

C. ENTRY <strong>RULES</strong>:<br />
a. Must be a current camper at a member camp of <strong>Maine</strong> <strong>Summer</strong> <strong>Camps</strong> (DBA name for<br />
<strong>Maine</strong> Youth Camping Foundation) located in <strong>Maine</strong>.<br />
b. Video entries cannot exceed a length of more than ninety (90) seconds.<br />
c. All contestants are required to submit a completed Consent Form. See Attachment A at<br />
the end of this document.<br />
d. All contestants are required to submit their name, parent/legal guardian’s name, home<br />
address, telephone number, e-mail address, camp name and camp contact person. See<br />
Attachment B at the end of this document.<br />
e. All videos and forms must be received and uploaded before August 31, 2011. Winning<br />
contestants will be notified by September 15, 2011.<br />
f. The video submission must be the work of the entrants – no counselors, staff or adult<br />
relatives are permitted to participate in the making of the video other than acting as<br />
camera-person.<br />
D. HOW TO UPLOAD YOUR VIDEO:<br />
Follow these steps to submit your “Letters from Camp” video entry:<br />
a. Visit YouTube.com to create and/or login to your personal account. (Note: if you do not<br />
already have an account you will have to create one.)<br />
b. Once you are logged into YouTube, upload your Letter from Camp video to your personal<br />
account.<br />
c. After your file has been uploaded, please title your video entry like this:<br />
Letters from Camp – ENTRY TITLE – CONTESTANT NAME<br />
d. Next, visit our official contest page (YouTube.com/LettersFromCamp) and click the<br />
SUBMIT YOUR LETTER link in the About Me section.<br />
e. Click on the Your Videos drop down menu beneath the message box and select your<br />
video file.<br />
f. Complete your message and send your entry to us.<br />

E. RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS:<br />
As a prerequisite to participation in “Letters from Camp,” each contestant must submit the<br />
permission slip attached as Attachment A that has been signed by a parent or guardian of the<br />
contestant and the entry form attached as Attachment B. By executing Attachments A and B, the<br />
contestant, by and through his/her parent or guardian, agree to the following terms:<br />
a. That the contestant agrees that <strong>Maine</strong> <strong>Summer</strong> <strong>Camps</strong> shall own any and all property<br />
rights to any video clip submitted by a contestant as part of “Letters from Camp,”<br />
including, but not limited to, any intellectual property rights or royalties associated with<br />
the same;<br />
b. That <strong>Maine</strong> <strong>Summer</strong> <strong>Camps</strong> maintains all rights to its marks, patents and all other<br />
property, tangible or intellectual;<br />
c. That, unless the contestant specifically requests otherwise, <strong>Maine</strong> <strong>Summer</strong> <strong>Camps</strong> may<br />
credit the contestant as being the original artist;<br />
d. That the contestant waives any and all legal rights stemming from participation in “Letters<br />
from Camp,” including, but not limited to, any right to compensation for submitting an<br />
entry; and that the contestant acknowledges that the sole consideration that may be<br />
expected from the submission of an entry into the competition is the possibility of being<br />
selected by <strong>Maine</strong> <strong>Summer</strong> <strong>Camps</strong> as the winning entry;<br />
e. That <strong>Maine</strong> <strong>Summer</strong> <strong>Camps</strong> may select any venue to use any video entry submitted by<br />
contestant;<br />
f. That contestant is authorized to use the <strong>Maine</strong> <strong>Summer</strong> <strong>Camps</strong> name, images, and logo<br />
for the limited time period of, and for the limited purposes that are necessary for,<br />
participation in the “Letters from Camp,” and that such authorization shall terminate once<br />
a contestant has submitted a video clip for consideration in the competition;<br />
g. That contestant’s participation in the competition does not create any affiliation,<br />
partnership, or agency between the contestant and <strong>Maine</strong> <strong>Summer</strong> <strong>Camps</strong>, nor does it<br />
create any obligation on the part of <strong>Maine</strong> <strong>Summer</strong> <strong>Camps</strong>;<br />
h. That, at the request of <strong>Maine</strong> <strong>Summer</strong> <strong>Camps</strong>, contestant shall remove any and all video<br />
clips entered in the competition from any publicly available viewing venue.<br />
F. PRIZES:<br />
One winning contestant will be selected from each age group. One group will include campers<br />
ages 7 - 11, and the other will include campers ages 12 - 16. The winner from the 7 - 11 division<br />
will be awarded with a Nintendo 3DS. The winner from the 12 - 16 division will be awarded with<br />
an iPad. Winners will also receive a congratulatory certificate and the chance at having their<br />
“Letter from Camp” used for promotional purposes.<br />
