COMPETITION GUIDELINES & RULES
A. CONTENT:
a. Contestants are encouraged to be as creative as possible for their “Letters from Camp” video.
Video must be 90 seconds or less. Campers can perform a skit, song, dance, musical number,
poem, speech or any other form of creative expression that will help them best deliver their
“Letters from Camp.” Some ideas for topics include but are not limited to:
• What makes Maine such a great place to go to camp
• What’s your favorite thing about camp in Maine
• Will you come back next summer and why
• What’s your best memory from camp in Maine
• What’s the coolest animal you’ve seen at camp in Maine
• What’s the most awesome thing you’ve done at camp in Maine
Please do not mention actual camp names in the video or appear in camp uniforms.
b. By participating in the competition, you agree not to submit, upload, or post any video that
includes any material that:
• Libels, defames, invades privacy, or is abusive, profane, or threatening;
• Infringes on any intellectual property or other right of any person or entity;
• Falsifies or deletes author attributions, legal notices, or other proprietary
designations;
• Violates any law;
• Advocates illegal activity; and,
• Knowingly contains viruses, corrupted files, or other materials that may cause
damage to any computer system.
B. FILMING PEOPLE:
a. Filming of any person under the age of eighteen (18) is prohibited unless the contestant
has obtained written consent (Attachment A) from the parent or guardian of said person.
A consent form is needed for each person appearing in the video.
b. Please note that the Title of Video and the Contestant’s Name must match the submitted
video entry posted on YouTube.
c. The consent form can be found at the end of this document as Attachment A.

d. Video clips are not officially entered into the contest until both the consent and entry
forms have been received by Burgess Advertising & Marketing.

C. ENTRY RULES:
a. Must be a current camper at a member camp of Maine Summer Camps (DBA name for
Maine Youth Camping Foundation) located in Maine.
b. Video entries cannot exceed a length of more than ninety (90) seconds.
c. All contestants are required to submit a completed Consent Form. See Attachment A at
the end of this document.
d. All contestants are required to submit their name, parent/legal guardian’s name, home
address, telephone number, e-mail address, camp name and camp contact person. See
Attachment B at the end of this document.
e. All videos and forms must be received and uploaded before August 31, 2011. Winning
contestants will be notified by September 15, 2011.
f. The video submission must be the work of the entrants – no counselors, staff or adult
relatives are permitted to participate in the making of the video other than acting as
camera-person.
D. HOW TO UPLOAD YOUR VIDEO:
Follow these steps to submit your “Letters from Camp” video entry:
a. Visit YouTube.com to create and/or login to your personal account. (Note: if you do not
already have an account you will have to create one.)
b. Once you are logged into YouTube, upload your Letter from Camp video to your personal
account.
c. After your file has been uploaded, please title your video entry like this:
Letters from Camp – ENTRY TITLE – CONTESTANT NAME
d. Next, visit our official contest page (YouTube.com/LettersFromCamp) and click the
SUBMIT YOUR LETTER link in the About Me section.
e. Click on the Your Videos drop down menu beneath the message box and select your
video file.
f. Complete your message and send your entry to us.

E. RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS:
As a prerequisite to participation in “Letters from Camp,” each contestant must submit the
permission slip attached as Attachment A that has been signed by a parent or guardian of the
contestant and the entry form attached as Attachment B. By executing Attachments A and B, the
contestant, by and through his/her parent or guardian, agree to the following terms:
a. That the contestant agrees that Maine Summer Camps shall own any and all property
rights to any video clip submitted by a contestant as part of “Letters from Camp,”
including, but not limited to, any intellectual property rights or royalties associated with
the same;
b. That Maine Summer Camps maintains all rights to its marks, patents and all other
property, tangible or intellectual;
c. That, unless the contestant specifically requests otherwise, Maine Summer Camps may
credit the contestant as being the original artist;
d. That the contestant waives any and all legal rights stemming from participation in “Letters
from Camp,” including, but not limited to, any right to compensation for submitting an
entry; and that the contestant acknowledges that the sole consideration that may be
expected from the submission of an entry into the competition is the possibility of being
selected by Maine Summer Camps as the winning entry;
e. That Maine Summer Camps may select any venue to use any video entry submitted by
contestant;
f. That contestant is authorized to use the Maine Summer Camps name, images, and logo
for the limited time period of, and for the limited purposes that are necessary for,
participation in the “Letters from Camp,” and that such authorization shall terminate once
a contestant has submitted a video clip for consideration in the competition;
g. That contestant’s participation in the competition does not create any affiliation,
partnership, or agency between the contestant and Maine Summer Camps, nor does it
create any obligation on the part of Maine Summer Camps;
h. That, at the request of Maine Summer Camps, contestant shall remove any and all video
clips entered in the competition from any publicly available viewing venue.
F. PRIZES:
One winning contestant will be selected from each age group. One group will include campers
ages 7 - 11, and the other will include campers ages 12 - 16. The winner from the 7 - 11 division
will be awarded with a Nintendo 3DS. The winner from the 12 - 16 division will be awarded with
an iPad. Winners will also receive a congratulatory certificate and the chance at having their
“Letter from Camp” used for promotional purposes.
