relating to the novelist John Cowper<br />
Powys (1872-1963) was purchased,<br />
including correspondence, drafts of<br />
works and family items.<br />
• A copy of an unusual children’s book,<br />
The Origin, Rise and Progress of the<br />
Paper People (London, 1856), the text<br />
manuscripts, reports, photographs,<br />
maps and plans relating to the<br />
geological inquiry into the causes of<br />
the Aberfan Disaster, 21 October 1966.<br />
• A manuscript, written circa 1811, by<br />
John Jones, ‘Jac Glan-y-gors’ (1766-<br />
1821), containing a number of his<br />
poems, some of which have not been<br />
previously recorded (<strong>NLW</strong> MS 23942).<br />
• A framed pencil portrait, circa 1899-<br />
1900, of the artist Gwen John (1876-<br />
1939) drawn by her brother Augustus<br />
John (1878-1961), when they were<br />
both students at the Slade, London,<br />
and living at the same lodging-house;<br />
lot 11 at the Christie’s sale, London, 10<br />
June <strong>2005</strong>.<br />
• Papers of the writer and critic D.<br />
Tecwyn Lloyd (1914-92), containing<br />
by Jane Williams, Ysgafell (1806-85)<br />
and the pictures by Augusta Hall, Lady<br />
