TO THE READER The Northwest Territories’ climate and environment present special challenges to designers and builders of water and sewer systems in the NWT. In recognition of these special challenges, the Department of Public Works and Services of the Government of the Northwest Territories has developed the Good Engineering Practice for Northern Water and Sewer Systems guidebook. Therefore I am pleased to present this guidebook, which is intended to assist all stakeholders involved in designing, constructing and operating quality water and sewer systems in the NWT. In developing the guidebook, Public Works and Services relied on the experiences and contributions of a wide variety of people and businesses.
