CMDS<br />

Petards Joyce - Loebl provides a full range of technical<br />

support services for Countermeasures Dispensing Systems<br />

(CMDS) - including the licensed manufacture of the<br />

internat<strong>ion</strong>ally renowned ALE-47 Threat Adaptive<br />

Countermeasures Dispensing System (TACDS) - that are in<br />

use with the British Army, the Royal Air Force and the Royal<br />

Navy across a range of Fast Jet, Rotary Wing, and Transport<br />

platforms. The ALE-47 is being integrated in<strong>to</strong> a range of<br />

Defensive Aids Suites (DAS), and Petards Joyce-Loebl is<br />

supporting these developments with their wealth of technical<br />

knowledge in installat<strong>ion</strong> design and trials support.<br />

MWS<br />

Petards Joyce - Loebl’s Gateshead site is equipped with a full<br />

depot repair and refurbishment facility for the AAR-47 Missile<br />

Warning System equipment providing a cost- effective, fast<br />

turnaround service. This was established as the first full<br />

facility outside of the US, and is approved as a European Base<br />

for maintenance of the full range of AAR-47 vers<strong>ion</strong>s<br />

including the Laser Warning funct<strong>ion</strong> of the (V)2 generat<strong>ion</strong>.


Real Threat Systems<br />

Petards Joyce-Loebl provides a full on-site and depot level repair,<br />

refurbishment, and maintenance service facility for ‘real threat’<br />

systems including the SA-6, the SA-8, and the ZSU 23. In<br />

addit<strong>ion</strong> <strong>to</strong> sourcing the original equipment manufacturer’s<br />

components Petards’ engineering team design, develop, and<br />

source suitable alternatives either by reverse engineering or by<br />

incorporating modern, solid state components. The engineering<br />

team has broad experience in the mechanical, electro -<br />

mechanical, and microwave aspects of the vehicles.<br />

Simula<strong>to</strong>rs<br />

Joyce-Loebl provides a full engineering support service for the<br />

EW Threat Simula<strong>to</strong>rs based at RAF Spadeadam and, over the<br />

course of recent years, has fully refurbished and modernised the<br />

equipment, including the repackaging of the J-Band Emiss<strong>ion</strong>s<br />

Threat Simula<strong>to</strong>r (JETS) from the ISO Container in<strong>to</strong> a standard<br />

Land Rover vehicle producing a flexible, mobile facility.<br />

Petards Joyce-Loebl has developed a Pre-Flight Message /<br />

Miss<strong>ion</strong> Data File Validat<strong>ion</strong> Facility for the ALE 47 TACDS<br />

that is installed on the majority of the UK’s military aircraft.<br />

The validat<strong>ion</strong> equipment allows the Service’s engineers <strong>to</strong><br />

fully exercise a development PFM/MDF, including its<br />

integrat<strong>ion</strong> with associated elements of a Defensive<br />

Aids Suite, before it is installed on an aircraft.<br />

This facility enables enor<strong>mous</strong> reduct<strong>ion</strong>s in flight<br />

line te<strong>sting</strong> and verificat<strong>ion</strong> <strong>to</strong> be made.
