NO-LIMIT HOLD’EM
SENIORS
SUNDAY 10.16.2011
TED SPENCER AND ANTHONY VLAHOS ARE
CO-CHAMPIONS COLLECTING $18,601 EACH!
A total of 277 players entered the $500 No-Limit Hold’em Seniors event in the 2011 Foxwoods World Poker Finals with a total
prize pool of $118,223 on the line. The final three chopped the remaining prize pool taking $18,601 each and played for the Trophy
and Watch. In the end Brian Leblanc of Danvers, MA took 3rd, Ted Spencer and Tony Vlahos called it quits after Brian was eliminated
declaring themselves Co-Champions with Ted taking the Commemorative Watch and Tony claiming the Championship Trophy.
The final table got underway at 6pm on Sunday after starting day 2 action at noon with 51 players. Nancy Bartleson of Amherst,
NH moved all-in with 10d9d after the 9c4s2c flop. She was called by Ted with a set of Deuces. The Ac9h gave Nancy trips, but
Ted filled and left Nancy with $2,246 for 10th place. Next to leave was Neal Freits moving all-in after Ted checked the Jc10d8s flop.
Ted called immediately with AhJd to Neal’s pocket Deuces. The board ended with Ks7c to end Neal’s run with 9th place earnings of
$3,080 to take back home to Keene, NH. Shortly thereafter, Mike Riordan moved all-in with AhKc, and was called by Ted, who had
pocket Fours. The 10h5c3cJh8d board missed Mike, and left the North Andover, MA resident with 8th place money of $3,665. Paul
Chakoian of North Reading, MA moved all-in with his last 100k, and was called by Ted who had AdJh. Paul could not improve his
10d8d with the 9c7c3h2d2s on the board and had to settle for 7th place and a $4,492 payday. The next eliminating hand saw Steve
Daniel of Belmont, MA raise all-in with 75k from the under the gun, only to be called by Ted and Tony from the blinds. They checked
the Kc10c4d flop, but after the 5c turn card, Tony bet 100k, and Ted folded. Tony showed Kh7d to Steve’s 9h6h. The 2d on the river
left Steve to settle for $5,380 for his 6th place finish.
Next to go was Al Matthew of Peabody, MA. Ted raised to 125k only to be raised all-in to 270k by Al. Ted calls with pocket
fives to Al’s Kc10c. Once again the board (7d5d2d8d3h) disappointed the all-in, ending Al’s run with a 5th place finish and $6,620.
The next departure was Glenn Wityak, who raised all-in with As10h and was called by Brian with Jd10d. Glen survived the flop
(KhQc4d), but the 9s on the turn gave Brian the straight and with the Qd on the river Glenn was left to settle for 4th, and $8,630 to take
back home to Griswold, CT.
The final three chopped the remaining prize pool and continued play for the watch and trophy, and an hour later Ted bet 75k
on the KsJs5h flop. Tony raised to 150k and was called by Brian and Ted. After the 6s turn card, Brian moved all-in, and was called
by Tony after Ted folded. Brian showed Qc10d for the straight draw to Tony’s pocket Aces with the nut flush draw. The 5s gave Tony
the flush and left Brian Leblanc with $18,600 for 3rd. Ted Spencer and Tony Vlahos decided to call it a night and to end as Co-
Champions with each collecting $18,601, while Ted claimed the Commemorative Watch and Tony collected the Championship Trophy.
