With the emergence of the <strong>1871</strong>-<strong>SFO</strong>, <strong>HME</strong> reintroduced practicality into custom <strong>chassis</strong> design by providing functionality and<br />

safety while reducing overall <strong>cab</strong> dimensions. Today the <strong>1871</strong>-<strong>SFO</strong> is still the most maneuverable, high-performance custom <strong>chassis</strong><br />

around.<br />

The <strong>1871</strong>-<strong>SFO</strong> literally turns inside the competition with its standard 45˚ cramp angle and a Short Front Overhang (<strong>SFO</strong>) <strong>cab</strong><br />

configuration. This truck is available with analog or state-of-the-art multiplex electrical systems. Dead space between the front<br />

and rear seating area was removed to shorten the <strong>cab</strong> to axle length to 120” allowing for a 165” wheelbase. This also gives the<br />

<strong>SFO</strong> a greater approach angle than any other custom <strong>chassis</strong> design. These two important features give the <strong>SFO</strong> the ability to<br />

navigate alleys, cull de sacs, narrow paths, and tight fire scenes with ease. The <strong>SFO</strong> also has a <strong>cab</strong> tilt height under 13’ so low<br />

firehouse ceilings aren’t a problem when servicing it.<br />

Despite its smaller, more maneuverable stance, none of the functional or comfort features that have become synonymous with the<br />

<strong>HME</strong> name were sacrificed in building this <strong>chassis</strong>. The upgraded 96” wide <strong>cab</strong> is a big improvement<br />

over earlier models, allowing for more shoulder room and seating options in the <strong>cab</strong>. The<br />

<strong>cab</strong> is available in two styles: the Short Front Overhang, Medium Four Door (<strong>SFO</strong>-MFD) 12”<br />

raised roof and the Short Medium Four Door (<strong>SFO</strong>-SMFD) flat roof models. The <strong>SFO</strong> seats five<br />

<strong>Fire</strong>fighters comfortably in any configuration.<br />

<strong>Custom</strong> features allow you to design the <strong>SFO</strong> that suits your needs from engine, transmission<br />

and wheelbase options to lighting, interior, and seating choices.<br />
