Each group presents key findings from <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

background reading<br />

Developing a communication strategy, Part two:<br />

Each group describes policy audience <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir key<br />

findings<br />

Evening: Read notes on how to write a news<br />

release<br />

Tuesday 18 th October<br />

Day Two: How to work with <strong>the</strong> media<br />

Lecture on how to reach policymakers through <strong>the</strong><br />

media<br />

Lecture on how to write a news release<br />

Groups write news releases based on <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

background reading<br />

Lecture on how to answer questions from<br />

policymakers or <strong>the</strong> media<br />

Groups practice being interviewed by a journalist<br />

Evening: Read notes on how to write a factsheet<br />

and prepare a policy presentation<br />

Wednesday 19 th October<br />

Day Three: How to write a fact sheets and prepare policy<br />

presentations<br />

Lecture on how to write a factsheet<br />

Groups write factsheets based on <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

background reading<br />

Lecture on how to prepare a policy presentation<br />

Groups begin preparing PowerPoint presentations<br />

based on <strong>the</strong>ir background reading<br />

Evening: Prepare policy presentations<br />

Thursday 20 th October<br />

Friday 21 st October<br />

Day Four: Give a policy presentation<br />

Morning session<br />

Lecture on how to deliver a policy presentation<br />

Groups complete factsheets and presentations and<br />

practice delivery<br />

Afternoon session<br />

Policy makers invited to group presentations<br />

Introduction of workshop to policy audience<br />

Groups give presentations to a policy audience<br />

Wep Kanawi to give farewell speech<br />

Dinner <strong>for</strong> Participants and Facilitator plus PNG<br />

Australia HIV & AIDS program<br />

End of program<br />

Evening: Relax after a job well done<br />

Participants go home<br />

*Note <strong>the</strong> program will start at 8.00am sharp every day<br />

*Lunch hour is from 12.00 pm – 1.00 pm<br />
