***JEFFERSON SCHOLARS FOUNDATION
The Jefferson Scholarships, to the University of Virginia, are granted to individuals on
the basis of merit alone; financial need is not a consideration in the selection process.
Students must possess exceptional ability in superior citizenship, leadership, scholarship
and show promise of making a significant contribution to the University community as
students and to society at large as graduates. Students must have a strong academic
profile (winners typically have a 3.8 GPA or higher and above 1400 on the SAT’s). In order to
apply to a college or university under a binding early decision plan. However, any
senior who wishes to apply under a non-‐binding early admission plan would be
eligible to compete for and win a Jefferson Scholarship.
Archmere can nominate one student, if interested in being considered, please see Mr.
Mulhearn, Mrs. Lyon or Mrs. Doyle by October 20, 2010.
