Part 1: <strong>JOB</strong> PROFILE<br />
1. OVERALL OBJECTIVE(S) OF THE POST<br />
The purpose of this role is to help end factory farm<strong>in</strong>g. This role will contribute by hav<strong>in</strong>g responsibility for<br />
support<strong>in</strong>g the provision of a professional and effective management account<strong>in</strong>g service, and for develop<strong>in</strong>g<br />
and enhanc<strong>in</strong>g the quality of budget<strong>in</strong>g and management account<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>formation, whilst ensur<strong>in</strong>g compliance<br />
with statutory requirements.<br />
2. POSITION IN ORGANISATION<br />

3. SCOPE OF <strong>JOB</strong> (These are expanded on <strong>in</strong> Section 6)<br />
Production of monthly management accounts<br />
Develop<strong>in</strong>g a strategic partnership (‘bus<strong>in</strong>ess partner<strong>in</strong>g’) relationship with all parts of the organisation<br />
Assistance as required <strong>in</strong> the production of the organisation’s annual accounts<br />
Assistance as required <strong>in</strong> the development and preparation of the annual budget and five year f<strong>in</strong>ancial<br />
plan<br />
Develop<strong>in</strong>g bus<strong>in</strong>ess case framework<br />
Participate <strong>in</strong> the execution of organisation wide projects and <strong>in</strong>itiatives as required<br />
4. DIMENSIONS & LIMITS OF AUTHORITY<br />
Deputises for the Head of F<strong>in</strong>ance when he is absent with respect to the Management Account<strong>in</strong>g aspects<br />
of the charity globally<br />
May recommend discipl<strong>in</strong>ary action and tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g requirements for staff with<strong>in</strong> own department<br />
Formulates relevant policies and procedures<br />
Will liaise with statutory bodies and key service providers to the organisation <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the auditors,<br />
bankers, <strong>in</strong>vestment and ethical advisers, account<strong>in</strong>g and other system providers<br />
May question the performance of <strong>in</strong>dividual suppliers (with the Head of F<strong>in</strong>ance) and recommend areas of<br />
service delivery for performance review<br />
Has specific authority to authorise cheque payments up to the value of £12,500 <strong>in</strong> the absence of the<br />

Part 2: DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES<br />
6. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES<br />

Production of monthly management accounts<br />
Prepare monthly management accounts to deadl<strong>in</strong>es, show<strong>in</strong>g performance aga<strong>in</strong>st budget, and<br />
<strong>in</strong>vestigat<strong>in</strong>g and <strong>in</strong>terpret<strong>in</strong>g variances for budget holders to enable them to take action<br />
Develop<strong>in</strong>g a strategic partnership (‘bus<strong>in</strong>ess partner<strong>in</strong>g’) relationship with all parts of the<br />
organisation<br />
Adopt a bus<strong>in</strong>ess partner<strong>in</strong>g approach with a number of budget holders to understand bus<strong>in</strong>ess needs<br />
Develop an understand<strong>in</strong>g of the different <strong>in</strong>come streams <strong>in</strong> order to be an effective Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Partner to<br />
the Senior Management and budget managers<br />
Undertake f<strong>in</strong>ancial plann<strong>in</strong>g and analysis, anticipat<strong>in</strong>g chang<strong>in</strong>g patterns of <strong>in</strong>come and costs – advis<strong>in</strong>g<br />
on remedial action where necessary<br />

Ensure the effective reconciliation of appropriate control accounts on a monthly basis<br />

report<strong>in</strong>g of this to budget holders<br />
Assist as required <strong>in</strong> the preparation of budgets and forecasts to tight deadl<strong>in</strong>es<br />
Produce regular forecasts for each department<br />
Advise the non UK staff on budget construction, f<strong>in</strong>ancial management and transactional record<strong>in</strong>g as<br />
required (<strong>in</strong> l<strong>in</strong>e with HQ policies and procedures)<br />
Manage additions, virements and other changes to the budget throughout the f<strong>in</strong>ancial year.<br />
Develop<strong>in</strong>g bus<strong>in</strong>ess case framework<br />
Support budget managers <strong>in</strong> specific management account<strong>in</strong>g tasks, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g production of bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />
cases, identification of costs sav<strong>in</strong>gs, and the preparation of bid documentation for project funds<br />
Work with services to track, monitor and report benefits and efficiencies and to conduct post project<br />
reviews<br />
Participate <strong>in</strong> the execution of organisation wide projects and <strong>in</strong>itiatives as required<br />
Present at <strong>in</strong>ternal tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g events as part of the F<strong>in</strong>ance Department staff development/<strong>in</strong>duction on<br />
offer to staff<br />
Dissem<strong>in</strong>ate f<strong>in</strong>ancial policies and procedures throughout the organisation<br />
