Nano materials play key roles in science and technology in the 21 century, the objective of this symposia series is to provide
an interdisciplinary forum for scientists engaged in the full spectrum of research, development, application, and to discuss the current status
and recent developments of these materials with a focus on chemistry and practical approaches. In addition, the symposium will provide an
opportunity to overview the field by covering a wide range of topics. Themes have been selected to accommodate a wide range of interests
to facilitate interdisciplinary interactions in both academic fields and industrial science and technology.
The “MAM Symposia” is a symposium, series, that has been initiated and organised by Prof. Kurt E. Geckeler, GIST, South Korea. MAM-12,

is the 6 symposium in this series and will be held at Coimbatore, India, during 21-25 November 2012.
DATE & VENUE
The symposium is scheduled from 21 to 25 November 2012, at Le Meridien (5 Star Deluxe) Hotel in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India.
The venue offers ample presentation facilities for the conduct of parallel technical sessions in several air-conditioned conference and
seminar halls.
K. S. RANGASAMY COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY
The K. S. Rangasamy College of Technology (KSRCT), started under the KSR Group of institutions in the year 1994, has come up with all basic
and advanced modern infrastructure facilities, excelling both in academic and research activities. The college has earned reputation
among all the self-financing colleges in South India by the way of academic excellence, introduction of new courses and providing necessary
amenities for the betterment of student community. The institution is now focusing on research and development through sponsored
research projects and consultancy services.
KSRCT established by the KSR Educational and Charitable Trust is located at Tiruchengode around 12 km from Erode on the
Erode-Tiruchengode state highway. It is an autonomous institution, affiliated to Anna University of Technology Coimbatore, approved by
the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, accredited by National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi (certified by
ISO 9001-2000, TÜV Germany). It offers 14 undergraduate and 16 postgraduate courses besides M.S./Ph.D. programs in different science,
engineering and technology disciplines. The college excels in academic performance by securing university ranks and gold medals.
This institution is headed by Prof. Dr. K. Thyagarajah. The Educational Institutions, which come under the KSR Group are the KSR
Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Rajammal Rangasamy Higher Secondary School, Avvai KSR Matriculation School,
Rajammal Rangasamy I.T.I., KSR College of Technology, KSR Institute of Technology, KSR College of Arts and Science, KSR Polytechnic
College, KSR College of Engineering, KSR Institute of Engineering and Technology, RR TeacherTraining Institute,
KSR Institute of Dental Sciences and Research, KSR College of Education, KSR College of Arts and Science for Women, KSR ITI, and the
KSR Institute of Industrial Training School. The total student's strength nurturing the arts, science, engineering, technology and dental
medicine education is around 25,000. The students are coming from not only in India but all over the globe especially from countries
such as South Africa, Kenya and Nepal.

Centre for Nano Science and Technology (CNST), KSRCT
In continuation of the dedicated service of KSR Educational Trust, the management extends full support in establishing a unique and offshore
research Centre for Nano Science and Technology (CNST) with dedicated team of faculty and scientists working to bring innovation in
nano science and technology under the directorship of Prof. Dr. V. Rajendran. The centre is aimed to cater to the academic and industrial
needs in collaboration with a wide range of national/international universities/research centres/industries. The management is keen in
bringing out the CNST as a world-class research centre to take up any challenging research work in nano valley for the benefits of the nation
and the society. The centre has already completed 4 major & twelve minor projects successfully from DRDO, DST and DAE New Delhi at a total
grant of 2.11/- crores. Three major and one minor research projects from DST, DRDO and DAE-CSR and IGCAR with a total grant of 1.22/- crores
are ongoing. The centre has filed 13 patents in nano metal oxides from natural minerals, nano silica from rice husk, and nano particles from
herbal plants for various industrial applications. These patents are ready for technology transfer. The centre has already signed MoUs with
leading research institutes in India and foreign countries like Germany, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, UK and USA for joint collaborative
research work. The centre is also looking for joint collaborations with multinational companies such as Mintek (South Africa), Elton (UK) on
mutual interest. The department offers postgraduate M.Tech. course in Nano Science and Technology in addition to M.S. /Ph.D. programmes.
The department has already conducted one international confrence and three national symposium and two workshops.
GWANGJU INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (GIST)
The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology is a research-oriented graduate school established by the Korean government in 1993 and
includes since 2010 also an undergraduate school. To enhance its competitiveness, GIST has carefully selected five leading fields of science
and technology, which includes Information and Communications, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechatronics, Environmental Science
and Engineering, Life Science and recently Nanobio Materials and Electronics as areas of special focus. All faculties and students are involved
in Brain Korea 21 projects selected and supported by the Korean Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST). The new Department
of Nanobio Materials and Electronics (DNE) with about 30 domestic and international faculty members has been established in 2008 within
the World - Class University Program at GIST. Prof. Dr. Kurt E. Geckeler is the Chair of this department .
TECHNICAL PROGRAMME
The symposium covers all frontier topics in the area of macro- and supramolecular architectures and materials in general. For MAM-12 there
is a special emphasis on nano systems and applications. The symposium includes plenary lectures and invited talks by eminent personalities
both from India and abroad in addition to contributed papers both oral and poster presentations. MAM-12 invites original contributed papers

GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT / PAPER SUBMISSION
One page abstract with experimental findings on A4 size paper should be submitted before the deadline.
• The paper should be original one, not submitted/published elsewhere.
• The paper should contain original results with definite conclusions. commercialisation/review papers should be avoided.
• Authors are requested to restrict to six A4 size pages including text, references, figures and tables, typed in Times New Roman font
(12 size) with double line spacing.
• The soft copy (Word file) of the paper should be submitted to: mam12@ksrct.ac.in
• At least one of the authors has to register for the symposium. A registered delegate is permitted to present one paper only.
• The paper(s) received without registration fee will not be included in the symposium program/journal publication.
The delegates are requested strictly to adhere to the above guidelines.

TECHNICAL EXHIBITION
It is planned to convene an exhibition during the symposium period. The technical exhibition includes state of art developments on materials
in general and also on nanomaterials and nanotechnology, instrumentation, components, scale models, characterisation equipment,
sensors and systems, etc. The exhibition will provide an opportunity for the industries to exhibit their products to the materials and
nanotechnology community.
Each stall consists of 3x3 meter size with required lighting and furniture facilities. Exhibition consists of a total of 20 stalls which will be
allotted on first come first serve basis. Exhibitors are entitled 25% discount on additional registration for their employee in addition to one
free delegate registration. In order to motivate the exhibitors a 10% discount will be given for advertisement in souvenirs.

Research Scholars and students should produce the bonafide certificate from the head of the institution. Registration fees for the
accompanying person include participation in inaugural and concluding sessions, admission to exhibition, symposium lunch and dinner, local
tours scheduled to take place during session hours and cultural programmes. Registered delegates will receive a confirmation letter through
mail.
REGISTRATION CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
Cancellations will be accepted (less 25% of administrative charges), if the request from the delegates is received on or before 10 November

2012. Cancellation will not be accepted after 1 November 2012. The dispatch of approved refund will be done after the symposium.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Delegates from abroad / overseas should possess a valid passport and entry visa. Visa can be obtained from the nearest Indian Embassy /
Consulate / High Commission. Multiple entry visa is required for visiting neighbouring countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, etc.,
and re-entering India.
POST-SYMPOSIUM TOUR
Post-Symposium tours to visit places such as Ooty, Kodaikanal, Yercaud, and Kolli hills will be arranged based on delegate's response on
a payment basis. Details of the payment for one person and the itinerary will be forwarded on receipt of the request.
